A winter's tale

...Last year I bought my husband this scarf from Ben Sherman department in Debenhams. I chose this particular scarf because it looked very nice. The colours are very simple and so it should go with whatever he was wearing and it wasn't offensive looking or dazzling which I know that he wouldn't like. The scarf has lots of thin stripes of different colours; an olive green, white, pale blue, dark blue, dark green. It certainly was a very classy looking scarf and he was pleased with it. The feel of the scarf is very soft. We have had scarved before which have been quite itchy which i sthe last thing that you need when you're wrapping it around your neck which is a very sensitive area of the body, not ideal to have something itchy rubbing up against it! Winter Wonderland

Advantages: Beautifully put together in every way
Disadvantages: Quite dark and depressing

...One of the best books I have ever read was ?Back Roads? by Tawni O?Dell, a story of how hard it can be to be a teenager with responsibilities and little support in backwoods America. I always believed that making a film of that novel would be ineffective, as you could never catch the beauty of O?Dell?s writing on screen. Outdoor Winter Cyclamen - Hardy Little Gems!

Advantages: Beautiful colour from Autumn through to the depths of Winter
Disadvantages: Rather expensive initial layout

...Many of us are familiar with cyclamen, usually sold either as winter time house plants or as plants sold chiefly for outdoor autumn displays. The first kind, beautiful as they are and often evoking fond memories of childhood, may prove difficult to care for in modern centrally heated homes, as they thrive in cool conditions. The outdoor kind can tolerate a degree of cold, but usually succumb to hard frost. Less well known are the hardy cyclamens that can be grown and left in the garden all year round, and I am reviewing these today. I have grown these in my own garden for many years now. I?ve been able to allow them to naturalise in some locations ? more of which later. I believe there are at least 20 types of cyclamen in total, not all of them hardy.
