Reviews of wireless g router
Netgear DG834GT, top wireless router
Review of NETGEAR DG834GT 108 Mbps Super G Wireless ADSL Router - wireless router by
ronniwonni
Advantages: fast, easy to set up, good signal strength
Disadvantages: slightly more expensive
...This was my first wireless router and i have to say i found it all a bit confusing with all the different types of router out there ones with modems ones without, adsl, cable etc etc.
This router is for people who get their internet access through their phoneline and not from telewest or ntl.
It has a built in modem and comes with a usb wireless adaptor so it has everything you need.
Setting the router up was so suprisingly simple after all of the confusion of trying to find the right type. You plug phone cable from your phone line into the back of the router and then the power cable and thats it.
My laptop already had a built in wireless card so i didn't need to touch that, it dected my router right away and i just followed the simple step my step instructions to set it up.
I use the usb wireless adaptor that came with the router...

A good, solid investment with a couple of niggles
Review of Belkin ADSL Modem with Wireless-G Router and Wireless G USB Network Adapter - wireless router by
sosull
Advantages: Reliable, easy to setup and use, small footprint.
Disadvantages: Gets very got through constant use, wireless adapter software can be annoying at times
...The Belkin ADSL Modem Wireless-G Wireless Router was the first wireless router I owned. It materialized in my home due to the sheer distance of my computer from the phone socket and running an RJ11 phone cable across the house was not a viable option. The router came with a thin but multilingual instruction leaflet which outlined the initial un-boxing and setup but it really could have been more concise. Nevertheless, initial setup was easy enough and I didn't experience any issues.
I had one Ethernet connected computer but I did set up everything first with a wireless computer using the supplied Wireless G USB adapter. The adapter works very well, is good and stable but the supplied Belkin adapter software is fiddly to use and can be confusing.
The router control panel is simple to navigate and offers a lot of options to configure...

Netgear
Review of NETGEAR DG834G 54 Mbps Wireless ADSL Firewall Router - wireless router by
vicke_p
Advantages: No problems with connection
Disadvantages: None
...I used modems supplied my my internet service provider and experienced problems with connectivity and drop out. In the end I got so sick of phoning the ISPs to report problems to be given the same twaddle (updating drivers etc.) that I went into my local branch of PC World and asked for their recommendation. The Netgear DG834G was the salesman's recommendation. It cost £50 and has been one of the better purchases I have made. My desk top PC and now my son's laptop use the same router and the wireless signal has never failed. We do not suffer from connectivity issues and trust the routers security to protect us from freeloaders and hackers. I would personally recommend this router type over those supplied by service providers....

Router minefield!!!
Review of NETGEAR DG834G 54 Mbps Wireless ADSL Firewall Router - wireless router by
zakkman
Advantages: ease of setup,reliable connection
Disadvantages: not the fastest on the market
...When looking to go wireless in the computer world it is an absolute minefield when it comes to wireless routers/modems. I sat at my latop(tethered to the telephone socket with wires) scouring google for write ups about this router and that router when i came across this one. Now this is rated as being the best selling router/modem in the UK and has been for some time. I think i paid around £40 from ebuyer.com. I chose it because of the fact its reasonably priced. Its a good trustworthy brand and it seemed to come up to scratch on speed.
Upon opening the box the installation was very simple indeed. I just followed the instructions that came with the router and hey prsto i was wireless on my laptop.Software is easy to install and self explanatory. Its not the fastest band of router on the market but for what i needed it was ample...

Not a router i would recommend
Review of Belkin High-Speed Mode Wireless G Router wireless router by
abacus1983
Advantages: Cheap. easy Installation
Disadvantages: Everything Else
...through my modem then through the router so that my PC in my bedroom can also have Wireless internet, This has turned out to be a complete shambles, My main PC running the router is less than 30ft away from my other PC in my bedroom and the connection between the two is so slow I sometimes regret even having the router in the first place.
Not only that at least once a week I have to unplug my router and reset my modem as the router basically stops transmitting the signal
This is not a router I would recommend to anyone who wants a proper working Wireless connection in there home.
Anyway I have put my views across but will also provide the specifications of the router just encase you want to try it for yourself.
Brand: Belkin
Model: FD7230-4
Device Type: Gateway, Router, DSU/CSU, Switch, Wireless Router

Unmitigated garbage
Review of Belkin ADSL2+ Modem with Wireless G+ MIMO Router - wireless router by
gvincent3000
Advantages: Make a good Paper weight
Disadvantages: Drops Connection, Poor coverage
...After Unpacking This router, the supplied DSL Filter was DOA requiring me to spend $20 to purchase another one.
The Setup Interface is very poor, Slow and Clumsy. Manual is hard to understand. Signal range is pathetic, i receive a stronger signal from my neighbors d-link router in the House next door than this router placed directly upstairs. Frequently drops internet connection. Requires constant reboots, sometimes three times a day. password has been set to prevent unauthorized access to the setup page but the router still allows any one access without a password prompt. Investigating other reviews of all of the different belkin products, this is not uncommon and serious questions need to be asked why a company is allowed to get away with making such trash....

Packed with features, excellent value for money
Review of Acer WLAN 11g Turbo Broadband Router wireless router by
faizamansoor
Advantages: Packed with features, excellent value for money
Disadvantages: Coverage A Bit Poor
...I bought this router for £35 from Ebuyer after sending back a Buffalo one which didn't work very well. What Ebuyer don't say on the website is that this Acer router comes with a free PCMCIA laptop wireless card in the box so for £35 this is excellent value for money.
The router is small, light and packed with features. You can add mac filtering for both wireless and wired clients, wep and features an activity log. There is an option to hide the ssid although this does not seem to work. Also it states on the box the coverage is up to 300m however sitting in the room below the router the coverage is quite poor, I receive a "low" signal strength and a connection of 2mbps on my computer which is pretty bad since the maximum should be 108mbps. I can pick up my 2 neighbours wireless lan a lot stronger than my own.
I haven't received any...

Brilliant Belking Bargain!!
Review of Belkin Wireless G Router F5D7230-4 - wireless router by
pfishers
Advantages: Fast speed wired, No connection loss, Less lagg than other routers
Disadvantages: Slow wireless connection
...no loss or drop in signal
Wireless:
Speed: 54 Mbps
Signal Type: IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11g
Antena: Single antena, adjustable position
Connection: slight breaks in connection (rare) but nothing too bad
Installation:
the instilation of this router was easy and fast it took me less than ten mins to install the router and set up the network of 3 computers (althought the cable was already laid from the previouse router). All the user has to do is connect the router to the modem and then connect the computers to the ports (or wireless signal) and the rest will be automatically set up. although the main settings for the router are stored in the routers firmware which is accessable through any internet explorer software (such as IE). and to gain access the user must enter a pre defined ip address such as "192...

Connect Me!
Review of Belkin Wireless G Router F5D7230-4 - wireless router by
mjawales
Advantages: Easy setup, very good performance.
Disadvantages: sparse Web site support
...The first good aspect of this router is its support of the quicker 802.11g products. The Belkin 54g wireless cable/DSL gateway router is competitively priced but its easy installation, good range, and perfect compatibility with old and new data radios put the router at one of the best around. Add in a built-in firewall, a lifetime warranty, and a six-month subscription to a versatile Web-filtering program for parents, and you have a great all-around solution for distributing Internet access, audio, and video throughout a home or a small office.
Setup is very easy. Simply open the box and read the three-minute setup for the 54g wireless cable/DSL gateway router. This is no joke, as it took exactly 2 minutes and 45 seconds and i had a fully operational 802.11g wireless network with four wired Ethernet ports. As amazing as it sounds, it...

Belkin Wireless G Router
Review of Belkin Wireless G Router F5D7230-4 - wireless router by
Sasha23
Advantages: Works very well 3 floors up.
Disadvantages: If you are on Vista, takes a costly telephone call to get you connected.
...We bought this wireless router as my son wanted to use his Wii on the internet. His room is on the 3rd floor and the computer and router are on the ground floor.
It was simple to set up and the instructions were good, however, because we are using Windows Vista, nothing is ever straight forward. With one longish phone call to India, via the number on the instructions to ring, everything was sorted out. The phone call took 35 minutes for which I am sure i was charged a fortune for and there is no way I could have worked it out for myself, it was far too complicated to get this router to work on Vista.
Once it was working though everything has gone smoothly. I do find that the internet is somewhat slower however he has a great connection on the 3rd floor and we have no complaints. Although the initial set up was frustrating...
