Review of Netgear WG311 54 Mbps Wireless PCI Adapter by
plain
Advantages: NONE!
Disadvantages: EVERYTHING! PC crashes, won't connect, poor range, crap software, crap product!
...Bought a NETGEAR Wireless-G Modem Router (DG834G), set-up was easy (once I remembered to disable my previous modem in Device Manager). My wifes laptop wireless connection took seconds to set-up & conect to the modem. Everthing was going really well ... untill, I TRIED TO SET-UP & INSTALL A NETGEAR WG311 PCI ADAPTER ON A THIRD PC, WHAT AN ABSOLUTE TOTAL & UTTER NIGHTMARE! Several knowledgable people, dozens of PC crashes, dozens of 'System Restores, dozens of times going over & over the instructed process step-by-step from scratch (on a new & 'System Restored PC each time) LATER! This PCI adapter could not stay connected .... even when the NETGEAR modem was set-up 4 inches away! SO LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR A WIRELESS PCI ADAPTER! This is just a waste of money & time!...

Netgear
Review of NETGEAR DG834G 54 Mbps Wireless ADSL Firewall Router - wireless router by
vicke_p
Advantages: No problems with connection
Disadvantages: None
...I used modems supplied my my internet service provider and experienced problems with connectivity and drop out. In the end I got so sick of phoning the ISPs to report problems to be given the same twaddle (updating drivers etc.) that I went into my local branch of PC World and asked for their recommendation. The Netgear DG834G was the salesman's recommendation. It cost £50 and has been one of the better purchases I have made. My desk top PC and now my son's laptop use the same router and the wireless signal has never failed. We do not suffer from connectivity issues and trust the routers security to protect us from freeloaders and hackers. I would personally recommend this router type over those supplied by service providers....

Linksys Wireless USB Adaptor's
Review of Linksys Wireless-G USB Network Adapter with SpeedBooster WUSB54GS by
daveylee20
Advantages: Perfection in every way. Shame it dosnt make you a cuppa tea also :-)
Disadvantages: The price would be seen as a little steep. But well worth it.
..., the more unstable your connection will be. Any signal lower than 45% is prone to disconnections on high traffic loads.
WUSB54G
This model does not have the speed booster. However because I own both the 45G, 45G-S & 45G-R I put them all threw there paces. Even though the 54G-S has speed boost, It's signal to my modem which is in the next room to me at 87% coming from a NetGear Wireless Router. However when connecting the 45G, the signal strength was 99%. So, in my opinion. If your modem is close to your pc. The 54G would be great for signal quality. However if its far away, like more than 2 rooms away from you. The 54G-S would be best suited.
WUSB54G-R
This has come as the new version of this product & not without its problems. This is easy to spot, the standard blue & dark gray. However this version is light gray & dark gray, so any confusion...

Netgear WGR614 54 Mbps Wireless Router
Review of NETGEAR WGR614 54 Mbps Wireless Router - wireless router by
OllyBacon
Advantages: Easy setup, great customer support, good price
Disadvantages: None
...In short: Excellent router, easy to set up and good support from Netgear.
I bought this modem router from Ebay to set up a wireless home network. Depsite paying AOL money each month and seeing new customers getting this router for free we were told that we would still have to purchase it separately. As this was one of the AOL compatible routers I plumped for it due to Netgear's good name.
The router was installed easyily and using AOL software from their site my main computer was up and running using an ethernet cable. We did have a couple of problems setting up our two laptops to work wirelessly but one short call to Netgear and that was all sorted out. If you don't have laptops with built in wireless capability I would recommend getting the compatible wireless adapters from Netgear, these also are installed very easily. Even though...

Buffalo's Brillant
Review of Buffalo AirStation Wireless-G Broadband ADSL2+ Modem Router WBMR-KG54 - wireless router - with AirStation 54 Mbps Keychain Adapter by
craigcheats_uk
Advantages: Wide range of connection,Supurb Firewall In Built, Easy to use, Small and Stylish
Disadvantages: only up to XP capatible, Vista driver soon hopefully
...I recently bought one of these routers after my dlink blew up, I was told by a friend that buffalo made excellent wireless routers and he wasn't wrong, this router works brillantly.
This router has wireless access, including 4 ports intergrated for any ethernet cable needs, its small and easy to place anywhere without it looking out of place, It has a 54mbps data transfer rate which is rather good for todays router standards, a 2.4ghz frequency band, which means it can be recieved over a good distance, but the distance can be changed using the easy browser setup.
It has many data link protocols incluing Ethernet, Fast Ethernet. IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11g.
It also has many features to this device as, Firewall protection (never had a virus since using it), auto sensing per device, DCHP support, auto uplink, IGMP snooping, Stateful...

Zyxel ADSL2+ Wireless Router
Review of ZyXEL Prestige 660HW-61 - wireless router by
chappy81
Advantages: Easy Install, 4-Port & Wireless, Reliable
Disadvantages: -
...Wireless Settings.
The Router is compatible with ADSL speeds right through to ADSL2+ so it is a great modem if you can only get ADSL now but your ISP is planning to roll out ADSL2 or 2+ soon.
The greatest thing about this router is the Wired and Wireless option. The ethernet hub on the rear of the router allows for up to 4 PC's to be connected at 100Mbps, and the Wireless allows for multiple (lots) of wireless connections of speeds up to 54Mbps. The modem is compatible with Wireless protocols 802.11b (11Mbps) and 802.11g (54Mbps)
The wireless option is made particularly secure by being compatible with several security schemes. Ranging from WEP (64 - 256bit) and WPA, as well as RADIUS authentication. These security features are essential. Making the Security features even stronger is the potential to filter by MAC address (Basically you can...

Always a Netgear
Review of NETGEAR DG834G 54 Mbps Wireless ADSL Firewall Router - wireless router by
Clifford_Uk
Advantages: Everything!
Disadvantages: None!
...I have owned this Modem / Router for about 2 years now, and i can honestly say, i have not needed to touch the thing since i set it up when i bought it! It's been sat on the floor behind my desk for as long as i have owned it, Being an AOL user, i was recommended this router becasue of it's easy set up. (AOL Customer care is useless), But i managed it flawlessly, the wireless range is impressive, on my laptop, the signal strength is Excellent/Very Good everywhere in my house, and it remains Good in my garden (about 20 meters from it!), I have never had to reset the router because of wireless problems. I would never replace it with any other brand, if this one decides it's had enough, i will definatly get another netgear router. Hope this helps....

Well... link my sys and call me brother.
Review of Linksys Wireless-G PCI Adapter WMP54G by
china_wolf
Advantages: Easy to install, it's inside your PC so is nicely hidden!
Disadvantages: Slow, crap range, I can send more data faster on foot
...card as a solution, you'll go straight back to cabled networking with a curse upon all wireless equipment to ever infiltrate into your abode.
Linksys' Wireless-G PCI Card, model number WMP54G, capable of 54Mbps compared to the older 11Mbps of the older wireless network standard, nearly 5x faster. Also compatible with the old standard as well so that you don't have to worry about immediately purchasing all new cards for all your PCs! Sound good on paper, but that's until you plug it in and find out what porkies Linksys has spewed out upon it's silver tray.
Firstly, ignore that picture in the top left hand corner.. that's the wrong image of what the card looks like. Ciao are really not good at keeping their websites up to date nowadays. The card comes very nicely boxed with instruction manuals, warrantee info and driver's CD. Installation...

Crappest wireless router, looks blue for a reason
Review of Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router WRT54G - wireless router by
china_wolf
Advantages: When it works it works
Disadvantages: Unreliable, slow, low range, ugly as a killer whale's backside
...One day, the father of networks wanted his progeny to evolve their wireless routers and hubs further. He gathered his four apprentices and told them to do so with strict instructions.
The first was Belkin. Belkin learnt from his old ways and became faster and more reliable than ever before.
The second was Netgear. It decided to take the reliable route as reliability was a better cause, and speed should take secondary priority, although is is rather fast.
The third was Buffalo. Contrary to Netgear, Buffalo took the speed path and have reliable as a secondary priority, although it is very reliable.
The last was Linksys. Seeing that his classmates have all taken the routes that he might have undergone, Linksys goes 'I know! I wont change at all! I will just add the word Wireless-G 54Mbps on my chest and paint it green!'
And so the rest...

Broadband for Idiots
Review of NETGEAR DG834G 54 Mbps Wireless ADSL Firewall Router - wireless router by
rallenhome
Advantages: speed, size, looks, ease of use, router AND modem in one
Disadvantages: The launch of the DG834GT 108Mbps
...and then you're done.
FUNCTIONALITY
------------------------
Once you've set up the box, you're ready to surf the internet. There is nothing else to do. The speed of the internet connection depends on your broadband provider and wireless card, but this box allows for up to 54Mbps, which for those of us who aren't techies, is maybe 1.5 seconds to load a full web page. If you are using its wireless function, then you can carry your laptop around the house and the internet connection is constantly available. If you live in a reasonably sized house, you should be able to use it anywhere, including the garden! The box also has sockets in the back for you to plug directly into the box with a cable, rather than using wireless.
SUMMARY
--------------
Its a very cool gadget that allows you to surf the internet from anywhere without having to worry about...
