Behind the times
Review of Cable & Wireless Internet by
Becky67
Advantages: Fast reliable ISP
Disadvantages: Cost
...Cable and Wireless Connect Package at 29.99 per month for up to 75 hours off peak surfing per month was far too expensive and appears to have been withdrawn since the takeover by NTL. I originally thought that with the NTL takeover, Cable and Wireless phone users would be able to take advantage of the excellent NTL service with unmetered calls. This is not the case, Cable and Wireless Customers have been left in limbo, cant use most unmetered ISPs without a BT phone or the NTL service. Cable and Wireless Lite is still available to people who dont mind paying the local call charges and this is a fast reliable service, but for heavy internet users dont touch Cable and Wireless with a bargepole...

Belkin Wireless LAN I Love You
Review of Belkin ADSL Modem with Wireless-G Router wireless router by
mirrah
Advantages: Can connect computers together in home or office without wires all over the pace
Disadvantages: Might interfere with some cordless phones
...We recently decide to buy a Belkin ASDL Modem with Wireless G Router because we have two computers at home.
My other half found it easy to install and get working on our main computer which is upstairs. Downstairs is our family computer and we though it would help the family,(kids not allowed in mum and dads bedroom), to access the internet for school work, research and e mail access.
Everything worked fine, even the remote dongle worked really well and gets a really good signal.
The best thing about this wireless LAN is that you can use the main computer to allow certain settings on the remote computer and turn internet access on or off, transfer files from main computer to remote computer and view what the remote user is accessing so you can net nanny any of your kids while they surf without actually looking over their shoulder all...

Excellent and fast wireless adapter
Review of Buffalo AirStation WLI-U2-KG54 by
beanp-271
Advantages: Fast setup, works with vista, easy connection
Disadvantages: none
...This is probably one of the best, and most simple to use wireless adapters there is. It connects to your computer via a USB 2.0 port or the USB 1.1, and the driver CD loads up straight away. It is simple to set up, and you can choose whether to use Windows own connection manager, or Buffalo's Client Manager V. You can connect to a wireless network almost straight away, even the ones protected with passwords. It is 54Mbps, thats 5 times faster than the standard 802.11b wireless. It also supports AOSS, and the one touch secure setup button. The password protected wireless networks that this adapter supports, are WPA and 128/64-Bit WEP. I am currently using the WEP and unlike some wireless adapters, you can save the passcode for the networks, so you don't have to enter it evrytime you want to connect. Includes full support for Windows...

Great if you want to use a wireless set with a KVM
Review of Labtec Media Wireless Desktop keyboard , mouse by
jon_c_holmes
Advantages: Price, quality, ease of setup, looks
Disadvantages: none
...I've just installed this great keyboard and mouse wireless set.
It is great - the mouse is optical and the keyboard, well made.
One vital piece of information: this keyboard works seamlessly with a KVM. I have a Belkin 2 port KVM and it set up perfectly.
Some of the Logitech wireless sets do not support KVM switches and in fact one in particular does not have a "scroll lock" key - which is the hot-key for switching between the computers connetced to the switch.
So, in short, if you are looking to have a wireless keyboard and mouse and need a PS/2 connection and are using a KVM (Belkin or otherwise) and are on a budget - you simply cannot go wrong with this set....

Wonderful wireless bridge
Review of Buffalo AirStation Turbo G High Power WLI-TX4-G54HP - bridge by
ncdave4life
Advantages: best way to get a wired ethernet port at the other end of a wireless connection
Disadvantages: none
...This is a fabulous product! It is absolutely the BEST way to get wired ethernet at other end of a wireless connection.
his is a wireless bridge. It is like hanging a 6-port switch off one of the wired ethernet ports on your wired+wireless router, in that it gives you four more ethernet ports. However, it connects to your router wirelessly, so you can put it anywhere, and it doesn't use up any of the existing wired ethernet ports. With this device, you can have four more ethernet ports, equivalent to the ones that are on your wireless router, but but they can be anywhere in your home or office, because they are connected to the router wirelessly.
If you need a wireless connection to a device or computer that cannot use a dedicated wireless adapter, then a wireless bridge, like this, is the only way to do it.
I also have a Linksys WET...

Is your PC Wireless yet?
Review of Linksys Wireless-G PCI Card WMP54G by
mw2870
Advantages: Easy of Installation, Backwards Compatible, Price
Disadvantages: Only compatible in PC's
...The Linksys Wireless-G PCI card is perfect for adding Wireless functionality to your home Computer and is a definite buy if you are building your own home wireless network.
Before buying its worth checking that you have a spare PCI slot in your PC, installation is nothing more daunting than removing the cover of your computer (powered off of course!!) and slotting the card into one of the free PCU slots. If you are running Windows XP the operating system will detect the new card automatically and prompt you for the driver CD, other operating systems will require that you insert the CD first.
The card comes with a quick start guide which contains more than adequate instructions for installation; however for the more advanced user there is a full instruction manual in electronic form on the enclosed CD-ROM.
It is backwards compatible...

KCORP PCI Wireless. Cheap and worth it;)
Review of KCORP Silver Series - Generation II KLS-660 by
beanp-271
Advantages: Cheap, easy to use and value for money
Disadvantages: Weak aerials
...I bought this PCI wireless card when I was first introduced into the craze of wireless networking. Its pretty basic, and slots straight into a standard PCI slot. The driver CD is simple to use as well, also giving drivers for the other wireless equipment in the KCORP range. It installed straight away, with no problems. The software is easy to use, and very simple to understand, and will have you connected to a wireless network in seconds. It works fine with Windows XP, but does not support Windows Vista. It usually heats up to around 40°C, and connects to encrypted networks such as 128-bit and 64-Bit Wep, and WPA-PSK. If you are looking for a long range wireless adapter, i would certainly not reccomend this 1 to you, as it doesn't work well in a big house, but if you are looking for a cheap, value for money card, this is the right one...

A little thing reaches a long way!
Review of Linksys Wireless-N USB Network Adapter WUSB300N by
lhough20
Advantages: Small, strong signal, styligh looks
Disadvantages: A little clumsy and obtrusive
...This is a review of the Linksys Wireless N USB adapter. Following my review of the Linksys wireless N router I thought I’d follow it up with the other component that makes the system complete!
So what’s this then?
------------------------
This is a USB adaptor for laptops and PC’s that connects to the wireless network in your home or at work and allows you to access the internet, email, download stuff etc. (even post more reviews on Ciao!)
What’s different about this?
----------------------------------
Wireless N is the new upgraded wireless protocol to wireless G. The range and spped is increased so when you’re sat upstairs with your laptop or in the garden, the signal will be faster and stronger. Wireless N is much more adapted to travelling through walls and obstacles. The download speed is also up to 12 times faster than wireless...

Wireless Network Set-Up By Beginner
Review of D-Link DKT-710 Wireless G ADSL2+ Starter Kit - wireless router by
pippab
Advantages: Everything you need in the box
Disadvantages: Could come with a jargon buster
...Being an experienced computer user who has previously done basic upgrades to my PC I was still a little worried about going wireless. I had security worries & the terminology is baffling. Do I go with wireless-g or wireless-n? If it's wireless, why did I need ethernet cables? I also was not sure exactly how to set it up & friends had had problems setting up their systems. However, I decided to go for it when my wired modem apparently gave up the ghost last weekend and I lost all internet.
This one promised easy set-up wizard, install in seconds. I did have problems initially but to be fair, later discovered these were due to problems on the ADSL telephone line not the product. Once the line was "fixed" the router basically did just plug in & set up easily via the wizard.
The quick install guide DOES NOT explain however where to stick...

Trust TeleViewer 1620W Wireless Review
Review of Trust TeleViewer 1620W Wireless by
tjg1
Advantages: Easy to use, cheap
Disadvantages: Can get interference from wireless networks, microwaves, other wireless equipment etc.
...This was bought as a wireless connection between a laptop and projector to show presentations etc. in a church. I am a little disappointed with the quality of the picture when using wireless and also that it easily gets interference from other electrical/electronic equipment. At the moment, I use it mostly to convert a VGA signal from a computer to a video signal for a TV; I don't use the wireless as often.
The product has a very good menu which lets you move, resize and adjust the colour of the image and it comes with a large range of cables and adapters.
Overall, I would recommend it as a computer - to - TV adapter but only as a wireless video sender if you sending low quality images/videos (i.e. not lots of text like PowerPoint presentations)....
