Simply Wizard

Advantages: well made, great story, excellent film for the kids
Disadvantages: None

...This is one film which has certainly stood the test of time. It is the original and still the best portrayal of the excellent story The Wizard of Oz. A marvel in it's day as the film was partly in full colour. It was originally planned to be just monochrome but the producers decided that the film was so magical that the land of Oz deserved to be portrayed in full colour so hence the black and white start and finish. Judy Garland puts on a great performance as do the other actors. No need to bore you with what the film is about, I'm sure everyone knows the story. This is an endearing film which all children should watch, adults too if you've not seen it. It is fantasy at its very best....

The Wizard of Oz

Advantages: Fun for most of the family
Disadvantages: Seems a little dated but that's to be expected

...on TV at Christmas. I like this film but as a young child I found the Witch of the West rather frightening. It may not be suitable for very small children, I think. Or maybe I was just too soft! What's often startling about "The Wizard of Oz" is the change from black and white to colour and back again. At the time this version was made, black and white signified reality as used in documentaries and colour meant fantasy. This is how we know Oz isn't real but we wonder how Dorothy will get back. As I said earlier, the story has been made lots of times but this is the one everyone remembers, not least because of Judy Garland's performance. She looks like a woman but again, is playing someone supposedly much younger. It's worth putting it into context as well. In 1939 trouble was brewing in Europe with the Second World War...

Advantages: Well written, very fast moving plot
Disadvantages: Not all areas well described, very brief

...A Wizard of Earthsea is a fantasy novel by Ursula Le Guin published in 1968. While not the first work set in the archipelago world, it is the most famous of them. A coming of age tale, it chronicles the growth of the titular wizard, Ged, as he develops from an adventurous young goatherd, to an arrogant prodigy at the Roke school of magic, then to a sombre, regretful young man. Themes of self-acceptance and responsibility, along with Jungian elements raise it above the trite fantasy fare it easily could have been. ...I always remember as a kid two things at christmas for entertainment. One is that there would always a James Bond movie and the other was that "The Wizard of OZ" would be on. The Wizard of OZ is a classic film and one that i never tires me no matter how many times i see it. Wizard of Oz - Nice childrens book

Advantages: Interesting scenes that weren't in the film

...After watching the film of the wizard of oz a few times, I spotted the book in my local store and thought I would try it, it turned out to be a good read. However, it doesn't compare with the film. -PLOT- The plot is the same as the films plot, just padded out with a couple of extra scenes and description. Advantages: A great classic given a good treatment

On the advice of the good witch, Glinda, she heads to the Emerald City for the help of the wonderful Wizard with her little dog Toto trotting all the way with her. Advantages: Gets rid of MOST stains

White wizard is a spot remover and all round purpose cleaner.Thats its official name and claim So how did I come about to need it.. Whilst browsing through the Lakeland ( kitchen gadget specalist) plastics catalogue,I saw white wizard and like most things like this kind of product i thought naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa wouldn't work... I had a few stains on a carpet that other products hadn't shifted so I thought I would give it a go. We havent got a lakeland shop.near us,so I was going to buy it from there website.
