Welcome To Wolverhampton

Advantages: A warm welcome for everyone
Disadvantages: Traffic...as in all city centres

...of both residents and visitors seriously, and security measures are in place to ensure that you have a happy and enjoyable time. If you have students in the family you may like to consider the University of Wolverhampton for their future education. Formerly a Polytechnic, the University is a respected seat of learning, offering all types of courses. Wolverhampton- my home

Advantages: Easy to get to, lots to see and do
Disadvantages: at this time of year overcrowding

...I have lived in Wolverhampton my whole life and love it, whenever people have said how disgusting Wolverhampton is, I am the first person to defend my hometown. So I'm going to try and write this review with a balanced attitude. First of all I will warn people not to go until after the January sale's, I really hate shopping at this time of year-people are shouting, pushing, getting angry and this is for both christmas and the January sale's! To get to Wolverhampton. First of all to get into Wolverhampton there is a very reliable bus and tram service. The Buses run quite regularly (they range from every 10 minutes to every half a hour depending which bus you want) and go to many places such as Walsall, Birmingham, Stafford, Cannock, Telford, Dudley and many small urban villages. The Metro goes all the way from Snow Hill...

Review of Getting Around in Wolverhampton

Wolverhampton civic hall - blast off "club"

Advantages: Good music for certain people - indie rock and people dressing up
Disadvantages: not that many people.................

...Wolverhampton little civic alonside the wulfrun, caters for a great variety of music. They are all centrally located in wolverhampton, a good 15 minutes walk most likely less to get to them from the train station. At times there are some really cheap gigs on, especially if your a music lover you may be able to find a good up and coming band that have yet to be signed or "famous" so it could be fairly cheap. The sound is great, the hall caters for a large crowd. Be careful as sometimes people at the front near the stage, can get quite rowdy so theres a lot of pushing and shoving! Saturdays, the civic hall holds blast off which is an indie based club. I have to admit the club itself looks shabby with a few random out of place tables dotted around the edge of a large hall. The place is dead with bad music before 12, so only go after...

Review of Wolverhampton Civic Hall

Wolverhampton a CITY to be proud of....

Advantages: Great nightlife, shops, bars, resturants and tourist paces to go and view
Disadvantages: Caotic most days and hard to find somewhere to park. Best to get on a bus or taxi.

...Wolverhampton town centre is a great place to go. Not just for shopping but also to tour many famous places around the city. Wolverhampton has great nightlife with clubs such as Atlantis,Adastra,Canal Club,The Beach and many class A clubs. The town is jammed packed most nights after 9pm, with fun loving clubbers or just nightout people. There are great places to just go for a drink like Heros,Chicago rock cafe,Bedazzled and O'Neills but there are also loads surrounding the city. The university is big and has been called on of the best in the West Midlands. When taking a trip into Wolverhampton its good to go and see the art gallery. Its nearly always open throughout the day and has great pieces of art inside for all ages to view. If football's your thing then go and check out the Molineux, home ground for Wolverhampton Wanderers...

A tale of Wolverhampton Uni and the Telford Campus

Advantages: Big student population, cheap housing
Disadvantages: Bit ugly, not the best reputation amongst employers

...Please remember to rate the review please I’ve got to say I don’t know why I went to this Uni. I did really badly at my A Levels, this was back in the days before everyone had the internet and you could crib all your course work! Just joking everybody under 23! No, I discovered booze, birds and other things I won’t mention here and good A-Level results was at back of the agenda. Don’t get me wrong I don’t regret my College years, they were some of the best years of my life. Before I signed up for 4 years in Wolves I went down to the University to check it out, little did I know that the open day was in Telford (30 minutes away). So instead of travelling down to Telford my next door neighbour and I (who also went to Wolves) decided to get hammered in the pubs around Wolverhampton. We had a great...

Review of Wolverhampton University

Wolverhampton Science Park

Advantages: Good level of education, State of the art computers.
Disadvantages: none

...I chose this university as it was the only one which offered a state of the art Multimedia course. I started a four year course in 1995. I was based at the Wolverhampton Science Park which was a newly built state of the art building. The education level was good and the lecturers were great. What was particularly positive and/or negative about it? I was always able to reach lecturers through either the internal phone system or email. Security of the building was really good as every student was given a swipe card. Students were able to park their cars in the free car park provided at the Wolverhampton Science Park. I can?t think of any negative points about this university. The kind of person who would love this university is someone who does not mind the small town atmosphere....

mediauk.com

Advantages: A decent media website...
Disadvantages: ...but no better than that

...Anyone looking for a job in the media, or even an insight into the big wide world of it, could do much worse than look here to begin with - mediauk.com. Operating since 1994, it lists current available jobs in radio, tv and print media, recent news articles on all these forms of media and a discussion board. Now being a graduate in a degree of this field of work, the jobs board has been an interest to me for quite a while...but don't expect to find work instantly. Anything but. Copious numbers of people view these adverts (you can see how many exactly in the job listings), but don't let that deter you of course - if you're good and experienced enough then you'll come across the job for you eventually. The jobs listed usually just contain a small job description and contact details for where to send your cover letter and CV, but...

dictionary.com

Advantages: Good free service
Disadvantages: Too many adverts & pop-ups

...Dictionary.com?! Dictionary.com?! Seriously?! Why, yes, something that seems so simply and basic has it's place on the World Wide Web (yes, I'm aware of the irony!), but fear not...it's not as basic as it seems! Rather than just typing in a word to discover its definition, dictionary.com does provide a far greater service. Since it's launch way back in 1995 (were websites even around then?!), it's one of the world's most popular services, as naturally many people will just type in 'dictionary.com' into their browser if they need to find the definition of a word...even if they don't know the website exists, it makes sense to have a crack at it! The website does provide a thesaurus option, translator and encyclopaedia...for anyone even contemplating steering away from Wikipedia, God forbid! But there are other quirks to the website...

gumtree.com

Advantages: Very detailed
Disadvantages: Open to fraud

...Many will remember a time when the classified section of a local newspaper was all there was if you wanted to look for second-hand goods, or look for a place to live without going to an estate agent?but not anymore. Goodbye the classified section; hello Gumtree.com To quote the frontpage of the website, Gumtree advertises ?Homes, jobs, cars, sofas, vintage records? anything, really??and they?re not wrong! It lists it?s good in cities across the country. And not just the capital cities of the UK, but anywhere from Brighton to Nottingham, from Oxford to Aberdeen. This handy tool can help you look for exactly what you?re after without having to sift through adverts from cities hundreds of miles from you. Now, to indicate the scale of the website, in the London section, the ?Flats and Houses? adverts totals 124,174!! That seems a bit...

TVCatchup.com

Advantages: Great website to watch TV on, for free
Disadvantages: None

...The television - the bane of most people's lives, spent whiling away the hours whilst sat in front of it when you could be doing things more productive. Then the Internet came along as a pretender to the thrown...but never would the picture box be knocked off it's perch, so the internet did the next best thing - broadcast the television on the internet. This is where TVCatchup comes in. Now, first off it's important to note that this website differs from, say, the BBC iPlayer because it is not a 'catch-up' service, or is it similar to YouTube by having readily available any old rubbish. No, this is quite literally television on the computer. The web address is simple - www.tvcatchup.com - and the idea is just as so. It streams the channels you can enjoy on a standard Freeview box via your computer screen, completely free...
