Often, they are identical models too, Canon have made a lot of printers for HP in the past. This time was different, the HP was the cheapest colour laser I could find where the cartridge prices were also reasonable. Being a laser printer, these do take drums as well as toner cartridges. All laser printers do, but the cartridges for this one come together with the drum. This means to the end user, you only need to change 4 toner cartridges, one for each colour of black, cyan, magenta and yellow. ...This is a superb colour laser printer for the money. I use this for business on a daily basis. Although mainly used for B&W printing its very fast. When used in Colour the image quality is fantastic. This printer comes with various means of communication ie parallel, USB and a built in network adapter. I have it linked directly to the router and therefore it can be used as a network printer easily. The menus are very versitile and offer you a great array of features to help control your business costs. Ie turning off the colour function to certain users. My only disappointment is that it doesnt come with a larger tray. An additional tray can be purchased as an optional extra at additional cost. Top Notch Laser Printer for the Office

The company I work for had decided to standardise all printers to cut costs on toners and so they didn?t need to buy so many different toners. The main printer in use was the HP LaserJet 2420N but this was discontinued and superseded by the HP LaserJet P3005 printers so I decided on this one. The P3005 printers come in several flavours. There?s the P3005 (no network), P3005N (with network) and P3005DN (duplex, with parallel connection and network). All of them have a USB connection. The P3005N costs £436.98 at Dabs.com, with the DN version costing slightly more and I replaced four printers with P3005N?s across several sites. The printer has two paper trays. Good little printer

Advantages: small, easy, cheap, good quality (for a col. laser)
Disadvantages: smallish paper tray

...tray could be a bit bigger, as I'm mostly using 120gsm and I need to top up regularly. Reasonably cheap to run, I est. around .40c NZ per page including nice 120gsm paper, which puts it ahead of a commercial printer up to around 250 pages, perfect for short run, proofing ideas etc. Colour is accurate enough to use for commercial digital proofing (ie checking a design before sending it off to commercial printer). Don't expect glossy inkjet (glossy photo quality) but it's as good as colour lasers get under $1000....

Dell 725 color printer

Advantages: fast
Disadvantages: does not print in true black ink color

...This printer has NEVER printed in true (or even close...) black "color". Contacting Dell support, I was told "your printer is no longer under warranty", so they would not even offer assistance. I never used it much (it was bundled with the laptop), so now when I needed it for a project, it is very disappointing that it does not work. I have downloaded and installed the "latest" driver (from 2006!) and that still did not help. I re-ran the printers test pattern and head cleaner, and no black ever printed. The test pattern is blue, pink, yellow and brownish-green. Given other's comments here about the black being a greenish-grey, I would never buy another single-cartridge printer again. I would definitely suggest you purchase a printer that has a dedicated black cartridge. Fast speed accounts for nothing if the colors are screwy!...

Great Little Laser Printer for the Home

...The HP LaserJet 1020 is a simple and compact black and white laser printer from HP. It superseded the LaserJet 1010, 1012, 1018 model s but as it has been out for quite a while, has itself been superseded by the LaserJet 1022 and maybe the LaserJet P1006 models, although mine is still going strong. The printer chassis has two shades of light greys and the body is quite curvy. It is small enough to fit in a book shelf, which is where I have mine. The trays stick out when extended but I fold up the paper feed tray when not in use. It only measures 370 x 242 x 209 mm so is probably one of the most compact laser printers you can get. I originally bought mine from Amazon for £45, which was an excellent deal but this printer usually sells for £60 - £100. INSTALLATION The printer came with a CD containing the driver. This is easy to install...
