World Series Poker 2008 , go all in on the DS

Advantages: Cannot lose real money, educational
Disadvantages: Slow to play some hands, scrolling screen, cannot save game in mid tournament

...Introduction Card games have been around for many years with varying degrees of popularity. Over the past decade with the growth of the internet, these games and, in particular, poker have grown massively. Such is its popularity, you can now play poker on any of the leading games consoles as well as the PC. Word Series Poker 2008 on the DS allows you to play for fun against fictitious opponents rather than throwing you into the big wide world of live poker against opponents who are hoping to take your money. The game The game is a very accurate reflection of a real game of poker. You have the choice of either a quick, single game right up to a full career mode where the objective is to progress through lower ranked tournaments and built up enough cash to enter the World Series itself and walk away with the coveted...

World Series Of Poker Tournament Of Champions

Advantages: Excellent for learning how to play strong tournament poker
Disadvantages: Gameplay can be slow

...I bought this game when it finally came out for the Ps2 on march 16th 2007. I paid £17.95 for it as it was a deal of the week in Game stores. Now the prices varies and you can pay anywhere from £25 to £39.99 depending on where you look for it. Game features include Quickplay where you can play a sit and go, a tournament or a regular game of holdem. Also in quickplay you can plat other poker varients to learn how to play other games. In career mode is where the game is most enjoyable. You start off in a home game with some of your friends, but its no ordinary home game. Chris "Jesus" Ferguson (2000 World Series Of Poker Main Event Winner) is there to find a promising rookie to take under his wing and guide towards wining the champion of champions tournament. Before that though you must win your home game and progress through smaller buy...

Word Series of Poker on the Sony PSP Portable

Advantages: Poker on PSP, proper global wi-fi multiplayer
Disadvantages: Graphics not so good, some long loading

...Are you a gambling addict or do you want to gamble but not lose money - well World Series of Poker on the Sony PSP it probably for you. The game includes several different types of poker including Texas Hold-Em and Ohio. You can play against top computer controlled players and work your way through various World Series championships. The AI is pretty good and you feel like you are gambling with real people. Graphics - the graphics are ok - all the characters and tables are well modelled and look good on the PSP screen. The backgrounds could be better, but it all looks fine. Sound - not much sound - could be better a small amount of commentary, audience noise and card sound effects. This could of done with a good snappy theme tune Longevity - this will keep you going for a month or so. Then you might dip back into it if...

Online Poker

Advantages: Winning Lots of Money !!
Disadvantages: Losing Lots of Money !!

...I love online poker. Have been playing since I turned 18. Was playing before hand but not online. Online is very different to live poker because you cannot see the people you are playing. People think that this will decrease the chance of winning but technically it wont, because everyone is in the same boat. The main rules of 'Texas hold em' is to make the best possible hand out of the 2 hole cards you are dealt and the 5 community cards in the middle. Hear is a list of the possible hands:- Straight Flush (five cards of the same suit in sequence) Four Of A Kind (four cards of the same numerical value) Full House (three cards of one value and two of another) Flush (five cards of the same suit) Straight (five cards in sequence) Three Of A Kind (three cards of the same value) Two Pairs (2x two cards of the same value) One Pair...

Poker (Texas hold'em)

Advantages: Fun, mulitiplayer game, cheap to buy
Disadvantages: can lead to high risk games, but generally no disadvantages

...I don’t know about you but Poker just seems to have rocketed in popularity in the last year and months. I’m not sure if it is to do with the rise of online gaming or if poker has always been so popular, but it seems to everywhere at the moment. I guess this isn’t the 70’s, 80’s or 90’s but the naughty's and many things sort off taboo are now more widely acceptable. Yes in the back of your mind there is the stigma of betting addictions and all that but it is a fun game with a few variants on the way it is played and what it is called. Know you can buy chip sets in Tesco and Asda and online on sites such as Ebuyer and Ebay, either I haven’t noticed before or the game is on the rise. You can play for cash, which could be fun or dangerous depends on yourself, but always bet what you...

The Many Faces Of Poker.

Advantages: Easy to play- you only need a pack of cards; good fun; a bit different from usual.
Disadvantages: Can be serious & complicated; doubts over effect of gambling on society; doesn't really raise your blood pressure.

...This is a game that everyone has heard of, yet not many know how to play, and those who do often have different rules to each other anyway. We’ve all seen the serious poker nights on soaps and sitcoms (well I’m just guessing with the soaps bit because I don’t watch any of them) along with the stereotypical poker-player cheating going on accompanied by heavy drinking, but believe me you don’t have to be a dishonest alcoholic to win the jackpot and discover how to play that famous and infamous game: poker. There exist three main types of poker, which I will describe briefly coupled with my opinions on each, and then if you’re lucky (ha) you’ll suffer me rabbiting on for a bit longer about poker as whole and… well… nothing in particular really. Before we begin I ought to say that poker...

NEVER PLAY POKER WITH A MAN CALLED AMARILLO SLIM!

Advantages: Punchy incisive information, no poker babble, humourous in places
Disadvantages: None of note!

...and priceless insights. With this book in hand it will be me who gets the last laugh when I take him to the cleaners and leave him token free at our next poker night. Since late 1991 the 'for dummies' guides have revolutionised the world of the reference book, a brand that started by addressing the complexities of the DOS operating system soon spread to encompass all manner of computer programs, utilities and the internet. Once it was discovered consumers were snapping up the books in large quantities the brand was extended still further, so that virtually all of life's trials and tribulations can be better prepared for with a distinctive yellow and black guide which the publishers like to call "a reference for the rest of us!" That said it would be a brave man or woman who whips out the latest edition to the series - 'Sex for Dummies' - at that...

Is POKER really a gentlemans game?

Advantages: Good when your WINNING
Disadvantages: Bad when your LOSING

...I have only just started playing poker on the internet and live games with my brothers at our local casino in Hastings. I would say that there is quite alot to take in when you are just a beginner. Anyway here is my review on Poker and the best places both online and offline. If you are ever in East Sussex pop in and have a wager. How to Play Texas Hold'em: Players receive two 'hole' cards that only they can see and use. Then, five 'community' cards are dealt that everyone can see and use. Players can make their five-card hand from both, one or none of their hole cards in combination with the community cards. The game is divided into four rounds of betting, and the betting moves clockwise around the table. Betting starts from the position next to the dealer button, which moves one place to the left after each hand. In online...

The Poker Phenomena

Advantages: Win Money and have fun
Disadvantages: Lose Money but still have fun as long as its not too much

...Poker a beautiful game watched by thousands and loved by millions. As you are all probably aware there are hundreds of internet poker sites and rest assured I have played at most of them. Before depositing any money don't be fooled by the bonus they give you, some sites can take four times your deposit before they pay the bonus, read it through before parting with any cash. Also check to see if the site run's any free rolls, check if the money they pay is real or bonus makes a difference, I have played on some site and won real money for no stake, it can take several hours to get but you can get something for nothing. Anyway I will share with you some of my opinions on say four of them, if the review goes well I can add more at a later date but for now let's concentrate on the four main sites I play at. Ultimate Bet...
