Better sat nav systems available for price!

Advantages: Good screen, clear voice skins, looks nice
Disadvantages: Innacurate instructions on complex roads, poor speed cam info, lack of updates

...Recently bought the Binatone Carrera X430 W for general everyday driving around the UK. As I travel quite a lot, I needed a sat nav that could give me clear and precise instructions, accurate road positioning, and information on points of interest and speed cameras. I found the X430 didn't really live up to my expectations on these points. The instructions were clear, however were not very accurate, taking me off the road and nearly into the path of oncoming traffic on a one way road at one point! Following this incident I was forced to take some small backroads to try and re-join the main road - with the X430 shouting (not particularly helpful) instructions at me all the way. When I finally did get back on the main road, my X430 was considerably more silent (obviously disgruntled that I hadn't followed its orders into oncoming...

Logitech X-230

Advantages: clear sound, very low noise

I was looking for new speakers for my laptop but then I decided I wanted more than just speakers and started searching through the lists of 2.1 and 5.1 sound systems. Originally I was about to buy a 5.1, but I realized such a set wouldn't be smart for a laptop which I wanna carry around and have it now on my desk, then on my bed, then on the floor etc, for which a 5.1 felt too much of cables and mass. I'm happy about my decision since the Logitech X-230 has proven to live up to the expectations based on what they promise, the sound is clear, full and I find it great for both music, games or movies. The subwoofer bass is strong and full, perfectly satisfying for almost cinema movie experience. You can hear hardly any noise and the volume range is wide enough...

Review of Logitech X 230

Dell D430 - the perfect commuting laptop

Advantages: Light, portable, built in 3G, robust, full size keyboard
Disadvantages: Not the most attractive design, battery life ok, but nowhere near quoted figures

...I've have a company Dell D430 for about 6 months now, and its by far the best laptop I've ever used. My commute is over an hour each way by train, so the built in 3G is a god send. The overall size is ideal - plenty big enough to use for extended periods, and have a 1280x800screen resolution, yet its very light and fits in a small courier bag. The keyboard is full size, and it also provides a track pad as well as a 'nipple' for cursor control. Battery life isn't as good as the quoted manufacturer figures (is it ever?) but it last a good 3 1/2 hours or so with constant average usage. Performance wise, its no gaming laptop, but for most people its more than adequate, with office apps, web browsing and even a bit of photo-shopping causing no slow downs on processing. Mine has a mere 1Gb of ram, but as its Windows XP and not the dreaded...

...Logitech X-540 Surround Sound. I ordered ths off amazon for 49.99, it was sent by courier (Home Delivery Network Ltd) and arrived within 2 days of ordering. Very easy to set up and great price for full 5.1 surround sound. Took 10 mins to hook it up to my Xbox and is amazing while playing Gears of war :D... First thing you notice is the weight contained in the small box the Speakers come in,its about 1ft square and contains 1 Bass and 5 satellite speakers, each individually packed in plastic bags. The bass unit is quite bulky and for optimal quality should be placed on the floor, but if you dont have much room, (like me) then you can put it it behind your TV or something... Canon Speedlite 430EZ (not listed) NOT the 430EX!

Advantages: Readily available second-hand; many features; easy to use;
Disadvantages: DOES NOT WORK WITH DIGITAL CAMERAS

...This flashgun wsa widely sold up to about 5 years ago as the 'solid workhorse' of the Canon Speedlite range. Much cheaper than the top-of-the-range 540EZ, it has an excellent Guide Number (GN) of 43 (100 ISO film, in metres) and has a range of up to 20m or so. It comes in a vinyl pouch with clear-easy to understand instructions. It uses 4x AA size batteries, and don't consider using ordinary batteries unless you have a deep bank balance, as they do not last long. Rechargeables not only recharge the flash much more quickly, but you get 50 or so flashes from a fully-charged set. I used to use rechargeables (2 sets) with a spare set of AA batteries as back-up - for, when taking flash shots of (school) theatrical productions, it would be quite normal for me to take 150 shots in an evening. American History X

Advantages: Great plot, superb characters and a theme that needed to be discussed
Disadvantages: violent

...Well my next review again is another film that was made during the 90's. Gosh they really don't make films like they use to. I must admit ive only seen this film twice once in high school and once with my friends, and both times the film just gives you a sense of shock. The film im going to review is the 1998, critically acclaimed "American History X", directed by Tony Kaye and Edward Norton and Edward Furlong. Ok two quick recaps here, Edward Furlong is the guy who was John Connor in Terminator 2, however just a wee bit more older in this film, but he still looks the same. We then have Edward Norton; you might recognise him from his earlier work in Primal Fear and The People vs. Larry Flynt I must admit this review will talk about some cruel and in some cases sadistic scenes, and for that I apologise if it causes any offence...
