X-Type Diesel - OK if you get a good one.

Advantages: Jaguar badge. Styling. Lots of options to play with.
Disadvantages: Very little equipment. Cramped interior. Some not very refined.

I test drove one of the launch cars last year at Company Car in Action at the Millbrook Proving Ground. It was an option laden d Sport and looked superb in black. Very impressive was the overall refinement, I informed the Jaguar staff on the stand quite honestly that I would be replacing my much liked 2.5 V6 (petrol) Omega with this car. ...I really believed that the X type was nothing more than a Mondeo in a very pretty body and badged as a Jaguar. Having bought a business that already owned an X type, my plan was to sell the car immediately and buy a Mercedes. That was six months ago! Review of Jaguar X-TYPE 2.5 V6

My X-Type after 12 months, 20,000 miles

Advantages: Good all round package - 4 wheel drive
Disadvantages: The styling may not be to all tastes

...I have a 3.0SE X-Type will all of the extras. Well not quite, I don't have the bigger wheels, 8 way seats, sunroof or JagNet. I chose the X-Type when I was able to leave our company car scheme. I had previously driven 3 BMW 3 Series models (1.8SE) over 6 years. The company car scheme was a 1 make scheme without any user choice. It was a great liberation to get free and be able to choose again. I had lots of fun choosing, I tried the Audi A4, BMW 330SE. Now I would also consider Volvo, Mercedes too but then I needed to move fast as I was actually without a car. The Jag was the best of the 3 cars I drove, the BMW being second and the Audi a far off third. I was looking for new speakers for my laptop but then I decided I wanted more than just speakers and started searching through the lists of 2.1 and 5.1 sound systems. ...I regret ever setting eyes upon my Type R. I purchased a fully serviced 53-plate Honda Civic Type R from a Honda dealership in Grantham in November 2006. My reasons for choosing Honda was because I deemed them to be reliable and I went through a dealership specifically for warranty cover. After 4 months of owning the car, in March 2007 there was a tremendous clanging which could be heard over the radio. The car was recovered by AA the next day who took it to Honda to be looked at. The AA man discovered that the noise was down to a lack of oil in the car ? it had burnt 4.2 litres of oil in 3,000 miles which Honda stated is normal for a Type R! Honda wanted to strip the engine at my own personal cost to see if the car needed a new engine costing £8,000. ...I have owned a Honda Civic Type R (2005 Model) for around six months now. I had many concerns about the car before buying it, however not one of these concerns still hangs over my ownership. I chose to buy a red example, but this is personal preference. I was concerned about the road noise of the car, given the stiff suspension and low profile tyres, as I do a fair amount of motorway miles. So far, I've barely noticed. I don't find the road noise too intrusive, only on the most harsh of road surfaces. Even then, the sweet engine note is more than enough compensation. The hard suspension is a bit of an issue over speed bumps - not to the point that you hear bottoming out noises, but it will certainly throw you around if you don't slow down. The low-set stance of the car has also caused me to scrape my front splitter (lower bumper...

My fist impression is that the car is a bit plasticy, although rattle free, but from the feel of the interior, the racing-style seats, I kinda figured you don't buy a Type-R for the awesome interior so further interior opinions won't be forthcoming. 2007 Type R FN2 - A Great Car

...I drove past the Honda Garage in October whilst looking for a Ford Focus ST (to be honest I hadnt even thought about the CTR) and saw that they had a 57 reg milano red type r with 9000 miles for £14995. My budget was 12000 plus the part exchange value of my previous fiat (total of about £14000). I was sceptical about getting £1000 knocked off but thought it would be worth a shot.
