...I purchased my Dell Inspiron 5150, December 2003 and since that time it has served me very well as a versatile notebook computer. The fast Intel processor (with HT technology) running at 3.06Ghz is still considered to be a very quick speed even almost 2 years after i purchased it. It performs very well with all CPU demanding programs, such as the Adobe creative suite. The hard drive size on mine is 40GB but is is upgradeable, to as much as you like, which will cost you more obviously. RAM can be upgraded to 2048mb, and there are two DIMM slots (so 2x1GB) The inspiron 5150 is a great desktop replacement and has more than enough power to meet the demands of the heavy user, who may well be looking for a laptop like this one. .... The monitor is slightly top-heavy, and the panel wobbles with even slight adjustments, though it won't tip over. DVD playback looks better than average, which i partially attribute to the 1707FP's quick, 8-millisecond pixel-response rate. I saw less noise in backgrounds than we usually see on LCDs, and the 1707FP's colours, including flesh tones, looks accurate and vivid. Gaming tests were equally impressive, with vibrant color and no noticeable image irregularities. ...and even though i don't make it out to be one, it is rather "ok". Plus, who can turndown an offer that cheap when it also comes with a 19 inch screen, which is MASSIVE (in my opinion). The Dell Inspiron 531 can handle 6 usbs at one time, takes normal memory cards and has easy and accessible jacks for headphones etc. Furthermore it already has Dvd writer capabilty and you can add another disk drive your self. ...are a games player a little more maybe that little upgrade to consider. Cables and Ports and what they are for. USB2 x2 used for new hardware like printers and scanners Zip Drives and other external devices. (please note that now new devices are using Firewire as well as USB2, firewire being more advance maybe something else to consider in buying a laptop) PC card slot for a modem or a WiFi Network Card or any other device like these. Firewire x 1 same as USB2 just more advance. Built in WiFi Network Card. 56K Modem and a LAN port and external video devices can be pluged into the S-Video port. Price Ranging from 1200GBP to 1500GBP RRP 1349 GBP My opinion towards this laptop, when i use this laptop it gets the job done but the battery life is not very good when you are out and about traveling. ...this dell laptop is very good for first time computer users. it offers all of the main features you would expect to see in a laptop and also comes with some optional extras such as windows vista home premiam an upgrade of vista home basic. the laptops processor is well known and could easyily run most games and almost ever aplication on the market for example microsoft office. with dell laptops such as this it is also possible to get a built in webcam in a wide range of colour if it is desired. the laptop however is not the fastest laptop on the market at the moment and is not as good as the dell inspiron 1501 another model of laptop from dell.... ...This server has been installed in a couple of my clients so far and i have to say that the fact that most of the SBS software comes pre-installed which save around 3 hours straight away. The aftermarket support for all Dells is first rate and they respond very fast should the hardware fail. The only thing can does put some people of is the price and the cost for spares upgradeds as these can be expensive if sourced direct from dell. Another advantage of dells is that they can be tailured to the specific need of each people as the understand that some people require different things from their machines and servers. I would certainly recommend purchasing Dell equipment... Read review

...Dell computers seem to be the office standard wherever I work. I think that they have become the office standard due to performance, reliability and support from their technical team. All of these things are essential for a modern office. Saying that, they are not cheap. I looked into purchasing a Dell for home because I had never had a problem with my work machine and was horrified at the prices. When you look at the PC Market you can normally categorise the machines into Budget, mid range and Hideously expensive. Dell are falling into the latter nowadays, Living off their great reputation around the world. The budget machines such as E-machines and Advent are good enough for home use. Packard Bell are a named brand that fall into the middle category. IBM, Hewlett Packard and now Dell operate in the high price bracket. Ford operate... Read review

...advantages to having 2 processors contained within the one chip. For instance the power requirements are reduced and it's also cheaper to produce a single chip containing 2 processors than having a 2 chips each with a single processor. However unlike a machine with 2 CPU's, a dual core system is at most likely to provide about a 70% performance improvement over a single core so its still possible to have a single core system operating at a higher clock speed that is quicker than a dual core system running at a lower clock speed. It has a whopping 2Gb of memory (default is 1Gb) along with an NVIDIA Quadro NVS 110 graphics card, which has a 512Mb cache (my old laptop had 128mb which was taken from the 512mb RAM) Dell offer highly configurable machines and it's unlikely that any two D820's will have the same specification as each other...
