...After scouring the Argos catalogue for weeks, I finally settled on the Vivitar Vivicam X30, and I am so glad I did! I was dubious at first, as I can imagine some people would be, but I eventually bought it, and I wouldn?t be without it now!
The description of it sounds quite amazing: 10.1MP, 3X Super Zoom, 2.5? LCD Monitor, Video Functionality, not to mention the countless modes and settings. All this for just under £200? Quite hard to believe, as for a slightly higher price, you could get a Sony Cybershot with only half the megapixel capabilities of the Vivitar. Ok, it?s not exactly an SLR, but for a digital camera, it?s the best I?ve seen so far!
The part that shocked and attracted me most was the 10.1MP, as I had never seen a camera with such a high megapixel value for that price. I thought it could be one of those products that...

Review of Vivitar VIVICAM X30
Advantages: Capable and robust PDA with rich features including Wireless B and Bluetooth. Disadvantages: Shortcut button does not allow just switch on BT or Wireless networking.
...Dell have produced a great PDA in the X30. The one to go for is the 624Mhz version and it has 64Mb ram. This can be expanded with SDRam cards or MMC.There is a cut down model without Wireless with a 312Mhz cpu but go for the 624Mhz model with Wireless 802.11b and Bluetooth. It comes from Dell with a USB sync cradle that also recharges your Axim.
There is an adapter that can be used with the power adapter to charge when you are travelling. Also included is a leather wallet
stylus and driver cd which has some extra software and demo versions of some commercial application software.
The operating system is MS Pocket PC 2003 SE. Bundled applications include Pocket Word, Excel, Notes, Media Player, Internet Explorer and MSN Messenger. Games include Solitaire and Jawbreaker an adictive game in the line of Tetris.

Review of Dell Axim X30
Advantages: Small, light and well spec'd Disadvantages: Replacement parts prices.
...space free.
THE BATTERY
The battery holds a full charge and lasts for about 105 - 120 minutes depending on what you are doing. It probably needs a new one but they are £60 ish and it's just as easy to carry the power cable if we need to transport it anywhere.
INPUT AND OUTPUT
The mouse nipple is a bit awkward till you get used to it but after that it is quite accurate and you can do things quite quickly.
The keyboard is full sized, yet those with larger fingers or poor co-ordination may sometimes clip the key next to the one you want at the same time.
The speakers are fine for the task and even manage to play music. You must of course not expect the same standard as your home stereo.
The screen is nice and clear and just perfect for most things you want it to do.
EXTRAS
It has 2 PCMCIA slots, 2 x USB slots...

Review of ThinkPad X30 2672
...30 questions which will give a better insight into my ideas and life.
I was bored.
1. ITV or BBC?
We have always had a television since I was younger. I remember getting up on a Saturday morning creeping downstairs in my PJ?s, dragging the duvet behind me and settling in the living room with the biscuit tin a glass of orange squash and the remote control. My sister would do the same. We would have four biscuits each and watch Live and Kicking on the BBC.
The morning would pass with kid?s cartoons until about mid morning when they would switch to semi adult programs or should I say those aimed at teenagers. As I got older I enjoyed the fact the BBC was advert free. The Saturday morning however, declined and ITV seemed to be growing in that department, though lacking imagination and eye catching content. The adverts were...

Review of Q & A
Advantages: Compact, effective IS mechanism, impressive light-gathering ability Disadvantages: No covers for the objective lenses
...and colors and shapes of birds. Some are easily identifiable - scrub jays, doves, and goldfinches - while others were new to me. So I bought a laminated fold-out poster to keep on the desk to help identify the critters. But when I wasn?t at my desk, it was hard to get close enough to the feeders to identify the birds. The feeders hang about 15' from the dining-room table and my eyesight is so wretched, I definitely need a third, Cyclopean, eye to compensate.
So when my husband asked what I wanted for Christmas, I was ready - a good pair of binoculars.
On the weekend before Christmas, we went out and bought me a pair of Canon 10x30 IS binocs. (Whine alert: Why are they referred to as a "pair"? Two monoculars attached to one another make a "pair of monoculars" or "one binocular," don't they? If they don't, they should. It gets very confusing...
Advantages: Looks great, works flawlessly, has wireless AND bluetooth Disadvantages: Dell customer service isn't great when buying...
...I bought my Dell Axim X30 just over 3 months ago, and I absolutely love it. I did a lot of research in order to choose this particular model, and in the end I opted for it because I could get a 624MHz processor with bluetooth, wireless and a cradle for a similar sum as a lower-spec X50. It's considerably cheaper than many similar products produced by other companies.
The only downside is the Dell customer service. It really isn't as good as it should be. It's impossible to speak to the same person twice, so if you have a query you can rarely resolve it. Dell uses foreign call centres, and there is a definite feeling that the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.
However despite that my PDA was delivered extremely quickly, perfectly packaged and with everything I ordered.
Another positive feature of the X30...

Review of Dell Axim X30
Advantages: Cost effective and fast Disadvantages: Based on Microsofts Pocket PC operating system!
...When I first considered buying a PDA, the Dell Axim X30 caught my attention. OK, it wasn't the sleek, sexy looking PDA that some people have but it certainly seemed well capable of most tasks. It has a fast 624MHz processor, 64Mb of internal memory which is expandable using an SD card. Above all, it has built in wi-fi (wireless connection) and blue-tooth - what more could you want?!
It arrived with a docking station with a USB connector for connectng to the computer and some software. Setting up the PDA was a piece of cake and I was up and running without a problem in no time. I had a slight problem connecting to my PC using wi-fi but Dell Tech Support were very helpful and in the end it turned out to be my firewall (on my PC) that was causing the problem.
The applications include: E-mail, Contacts, Internet Explorer, Windows...

Review of Dell Axim X30
Advantages: Sleek speaker set up, great sound and playback features Disadvantages: DVD player looks like a 1980s video recorder!
...We have just purchased this system with a 32" Samsung TV. Although at first it was confusing (we have only had Sony products before) we set it up quickly and it is a good looking system. The surround speakers are sleek and well made, easy to hide and have the advantage of (the rear two) going wireless with the purchase of an extra wireless card. The woofer box is large in size but compact enough to remain inconspicuous to the viewer.
The sound actually rivals our Sony system and we have had it up to max (awesome!)
Playback features include Media file (via USB), MP3, DivX. Warning though it does not support the playback of CD-ROM, DVD-ROMs or any other region DVDs. A great system considering the budget price....
