...After hearing how good Microsoft's next-gen gaming console was, I decided to invest. And what a good choice that was. I purchased an Xbox 360 Elite last year and how glad I am that I did. ...The Xbox 360 is an amazing machine, no really it is! But if you are going to buy one be prepared to get it replaced every once in a while... On to the review! THE GAMES The Xbox 360 caters strongle to the shooter fans likes (Like me of course!) with amazing titles to play on, including the likes of Halo 3, Call of Duty 4 and Gears of War all of which are simply amazing offline but the real fun starts online. ...The Xbox 360 20GB Hard Drive is a necessity for all Xbox 360 users. It provides basic features that every Xbox owner will need. Look The Xbox 360 20GB Hard Drive is quite good looking, for a hard drive, it is very different from your basic PC hard drive. It has been modelled perfectly after the Xbox 360 styling so it will obviously fit in perfectly with your Xbox 360 console. The Hard Drive itself is a rounded rectangular box; it has a reasonable weight to it and feels pretty solid in its construction. On the top you get a shiny metallic badge which reads HDD in faded white lettering (in the Xbox 360 font of course) the metal finish makes it feel really nice and makes me think of a quality device like the metallic skinned iPod. Around the drive you get a chrome finish, unfortunately this isn't metal but it looks really nice and blends... Read review

...aesthetically pleasing, but also very useful, incremental part of the 360, making short work of save game files, with plenty of spare space for downaloading free demos and HD videos from xbox live arcade. (Silver membership is included free with the console, which is great, but doesnt allow the option to play against others without the subscription charge of xbox live gold, which actually is good value for money and well worth it.) however, on downside, the fans are extremely noisy on the xbox 360, and the hard-drive is expensive (if bought as an extra with the core version, which it isnt bundled with) for what it is, at £69, especially as when formatted only 13gb of the said 20gb space is free for use, although it does include the game Hexic HD for free on the hard-drives space, perhaps explaining some of the missing space. ...Having waited forever for Sony to release the PS3, stop gap was filled by an Xbox 360. Purchased in December 06 in a promotional offer at PC World, console came with Gears of War, Project Gotham Racer 3, Table Tennis and Arcade collection. We also purchased Pro Evo 6 as an extra so all of us in the family had our favourites covered. Initial set up of the console is very simple and straight forward. The power supply is very large and the cables could do with being a little longer. One thing you will notice straight away is the noise. There are several fans cooling the unit which are very noisy, a lesson leant well by Sony on their transition from the PS2 to the Slimline PS2. Connecting to our HD LCD TV was very clearly illustrated in the instructions. Set up was very simple on initial startup. Creating the accounts for individual players... Read review

Disadvantages: only about 6 are the full games, possibility of loosing all games when disc is lost.

...Price: £15-25 Publisher: Microsoft Min age requirements: 12 Xbox live arcade unplugged is a decent investment for your games collection for your 360. If you are getting a 360 console, this is a decent game to buy along with it, as you can put it in the console, and jump into any of six games included (and several demos). --Advantages-- -You can save money on arcade games (you are paying quite a lot on the live marketplace for the arcade games, why not buy this, its cheaper.) -You can play it on anyones 360 console e.g. a friends 360 (buying the individual games off of live will leave you with them stuck on your own console, the only option for you to do is to take it with you on your 360's harddrive, which isnt handy..) --Disadvantages-- -There are only 6 full arcade games included, and they do not change, so you will be left... ...Hmmm you might be reading this review if you can't decide between the Xbox 360, and the PS3. Well then you're reading the right review since I had to make the same decision. The Xbox 360, with its recent price cut is great value for money. Much lower than the PS3- here are the lowest prices I found on the COMET website for each console -Xbox 360- £159.99 -PS3- £299.99 -Wii- £189.00 Here we see that the Xbox 360 is the lowest priced however this is the arcade version which I probably won't recommend you getting since it has a low memory and you will most likely end up getting the 20GB hard drive- the premium Xbox 360 is only £199.99 which is still a good price. These are classic old style games whose prices range from 400 to 1200 points. ...I got my Xbox 360 on launch day. Below is my thoughts and opinions about the console. Setting up Setting up the console is a little bit more complex than an old Super NES but you should still be up and running within five to ten minutes. If you are going to be connected to Xbox Live! than you need to allow a bit more time for registration and payment etc. Once the console is set up and you turn it on you need to create a 'GamerCard' which is you own personal profile.
