...After hearing how good Microsoft's next-gen gaming console was, I decided to invest. And what a good choice that was. I purchased an Xbox 360 Elite last year and how glad I am that I did. ...all sorts of horror stories about the reliability on the 360 & a few about the PS3, but to be honest I've not had a problem, I did get a red flash on the ring once a year or so ago, switched off, then back on again & it was fine & has been since (touch wood), no problems as yet on the PS3 but it's still fairly fresh out of the wrapper ( bought the slim model recently), one of my mates had a 360 that died after a year or so, but Microsoft covered it, I think they give a 3yr cover on the xbox against RROD these days (I guess they had to, as the stories that were flying about must have been putting everyone off the system). Maybe I've just been lucky with my consoles but @ the moment, they ALL still work, (Mega Drive, Saturn, Dreamcast, Xbox, Wii, 360 & PS3) even my original Mega Drive (the dreamcast did need a minor repair which I did myself...

Xbox 360 Arcade - wonderful console, let down a bit by microsoft

Advantages: good range of games; enjoyable Xbox live service; perfect starter-kit
Disadvantages: certain techno faults; difficult dealing with manufacturer

...Problems It is best to get these out of the way first, no? I have had several Xboxes. The first suffered from a "three-quarters" fault that meant it did not work at all. This was a well-known fault in the machines, and so even though the machine was out of warranty, Microsoft would fix it. However, in order to get it fixed, we had to go through an unnecessarily complex process with shipping labels, etc. (which did not work from the emails we received), but eventually we got it sorted. However, it took so long that we actually went out and bought another one! This second one had trouble with the power supply only two months after being purchased. Intermittently, the power supply would completely stop functioning, suggesting that there was something wrong with the wiring, but we never managed to figure out precisely what...

Brilliance of the Xbox360

Microsoft Xbox 360 Elite - Best console ever made!

Advantages: Looks good/Good storage/Great games/Great graphics/can play films and videos/music/lots lots more.
Disadvantages: Very expensive accesories, especially the wireless adaptor

...the reason why I never even considered the PS3 when I was choosing my next-gen console, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing that I would never get to play such games as Halo3 or Fable. The xbox live marketrplace is a great feature, it alows you to download themes, demos movie trailers,game trailers and even whole movies. Ofcourse some of this will come at a cost, which in most cases is a complete rip off if you are only buying things such as gamer pictures. This is the only real problem with the xbox 360, the price of the accesories :S. As with many things, microsoft liek to charge excessive prices for simple accesories and force you to buy their £60 versions by mnaking the cheaper ones not work.
