Turborevs HID conversion kits

...After spending sometime doing my homework on HID kits and decieding whether the cost is worth it I eventually decieded to buy a set for my Golf. I bought my HID kit from Turborevs (http://www.turborevs.org.uk) after decieding not to buy a cheap kit from ebay (heard a few dodgy things with too much glare, bulbs failing from friends who had bought from ebay sellers) and Turborevs was the cheapest I found on the web and was recommended by a friend who had recently bought a kit from them. After placing my order I received my kit in 3 days delivered by courier, which is ok and was packaged well with contents securely held in place and protected. The packaging for the kit looked good and everything was laid out so you knew whats what. Inside the box there were two xenon capsules (bulbs), two ballasts, wire harness, two mounting brackets...

Bosch Twin-Set is a Pearl

Advantages: As useful as a mains hammer drill, except where extremes of power are needed.
Disadvantages: Needs regular use to get the best from the batteries

Well, that’s a long preamble to an opinion on a cordless drill but I hope it helps set the scene on cordless tools in general, and the fact that you should only buy them if they are going to get regular use. (Unless they start putting better battery-types in them, that is.) My Swiss-made Bosch 12v Cordless drill (PSB12VSP-2)comes as part of a pair with a smaller tool (PSR 120)intended mainly as a screwdriver (although it drills wood OK), in a smart carrying case. They are both “drill-shaped”, i.e. with a pistol-grip and trigger. Screwfix are currently asking £189 for the set, but I bought mine a few months ago in Hereford for £149...

Advantages: Very quick if you have a lot of tyres to top-up. Battery matches many other Bosch tools
Disadvantages: Unsuitable for high volumes, eg air beds. Uneconomic replacement battery.

...'ve justified another one to myself, the Bosch PAG 12v Cordless Air Compressor, and I didn't even know what it was until three days before I bought it! Generally speaking, when it comes to pumping up car tyres (not from flat), you have a limited range of options, one of which is to use a foot pump, another to use a 12v compressor running off the cigar-lighter socket, or, if the tyres aren't too flat, to leg it round to the nearest garage and pray that the air-line's working. When it comes to bike tyres, your options are limited normally to the 'manual' (or should that be 'pedal'?) option. Garage air-lines can be used but be careful to stop pumping in time. Although bike tyres tend to be a lot harder than those on a car, they don't need much volume of air to get them up to working pressure! For obvious reasons, most pushbikes are bereft of a cigar...

In case you?re in any doubt, this vacuum cleaner is made for humans - my cat didn?t have a clue! First impressions are of a nicely finished, extremely solid bit of kit. Panel fit is good and the on/off switch and debris container release latch feel encouragingly solid too. Like most battery powered vacuum cleaners, it's designed for short-burst use, lasting about 8 minutes on a full charge. I tend to leave it charging overnight when necessary and it charges adequately in under 12 hours. The 100W motor gives good suction although, obviously, it can?t compete with mains powered models. Removal of pet hair from carpets and upholstered furniture is impressive when fitted with the supplied rotating brush...

...In January I purchased a HID kit for my 1991 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo. I bought their kit which was advertised on Amazon. The items cost just shy of £100 so it wasn't a cheap set by HID standards. Delivery took about a week. The item arrived okay but with very poor documentation. Contrary to what has been said by another reviewer. This kit is one made in China. I put off fitting the lights until the weather improved and I had finished other modifications. At the beginning of February, I got around to trying to fit it. However I noticed the bulbs had a different fitment to the one it was replacing. When I checked, the bulb used in the car was a H3 or H3c. The light supplied by Turborevs was a H1 fitment. No more cut cables

Advantages: Light, easy to use & no cable to snip
Disadvantages: expensive, 45 minutes running time

...it was the only model in stock at the B&Q branch I visited (It also had a tenner off, which was even better news!) AT around seventy quid, the AHS 3 ACCU was nearly three times as expensive as other units they had by other manufacturers. The running time is a claimed 45 minutes But the good news is, it charges in around an hour Which just about gives enough time to sweep the trimmings up before the next charge is finished. Actually I was very impressed, I managed the whole hedge without running out of power, and there was enough oomph left in the battery to tidy up the back garden hedge as well. ..., most were beyond my budget. I was shocked at how much you could pay for a drill. I'm sure a bit of flint would have been cheaper... but one particular drill stood out from the rest. Sleek in it's styling and silver in colour it stood out from the olive-drab and oranges of it's siblings. It offered everything I could want from a cordless drill; a 12v motor, quick charge (1hr) battery, keyless chuck, two-speed gearing with hammer action, charge remaining indicator, adjustable clutch for control when driving screws and to top it all off, a level indicator! All of this in a slim-line silver drill, complete with sturdy carry-case. Costing around the same as most other 12v cordless drills, it had a few more features and was slightly less chunky than the competition. Review of Black & Decker - 12V Cordless Hammer Drill

Usable but feels a bit flimsy

...I have a 12V cordless hammer drill/screwdriver from Black and Decker. It has a 1.7 Ah battery which lasts a reasonable time for DIY projects, although it is worth charging it first before you start. It has a smart fast charger which charges the battery in 1 hour from flat. It detects when the battery is charged and switches to trickle charging. The battery stays reasonably cool when its charging (which is good) although the charger itself gets quite warm and has an electrical smell. The drill itself is powerful enough for me to use it most of the time. I now only get my corded drill out if I'm doing a lot of drilling into masonry, or if the masonry is very hard brick or has bits of flint in it (eg concrete lintels). IMHO, for a cordless drill you definitely want a keyless chuck as they are tight enough for most of the time...

A Sexy Silhouette And The Cars Quite Good As Well.

Advantages: Good value car with many extras including air conditioning, electric windows, air bags etc. as standard.
Disadvantages: Perhaps a little under powered.

...turned into the sort of person I used to mock - suit, briefcase, expenses, new car! Three years ago, if you'd told me, I'd have laughed in your face. Still, there we go, time flies, we change - whoosh. I could fib and tell you that I've bought the top of the range model with 130 bhp but, as I don't really understand what that means anyway, I'll tell you the truth. I've just got the basic 1.2 engine, but it's lovely. It has a fantastic feline front, ever so sexy curved headlights and the car looks happy, but with a hint of underlying sensuality. Mine is a knockout Flash Red colour, so you'll see me coming - which will make a change for my neighbours from just hearing me. It looks super, providing you are wearing sunglasses, and contrasts just right with the black radiator grille, door handles and mirrors. I think it's beautiful...
