Advantages: Better torque, more flexible & reliable engine (Zetec as opposed to CVH), higher re-sale value, many improvements Disadvantages: Still not quite in the league it should be, overshadowed by very similar RS1800 due to its more tuned engine
...Ford?s Fiesta XR2i has always had a large following, primarily from "boy racers", but is a car that most people identify with. It was never breathtaking in the performance department, but good looking, affordable and reasonably quick, it established itself in the early 90?s as a popular hot-hatch and soon became an institution. I have always admired the XR2i, years before I could drive, but was also aware of the cost of insuring one and never considered the car until I hit my 20?s. Looking for more power, I started a search for an XR2i. I will be honest in saying that I never knew there was a 1.8 16v version of the car, and from speaking to various other people, I would feel confident in saying that it is little known that in 1992 Ford re-vamped the XR2i with the 1.8 16v DOHC Zetec engine from the Escort range. Cosmetic changes were very...

Review of Ford Fiesta XR2
Advantages: Cheap to buy, fast, fun. Disadvantages: Not too many good ones left, thirsty.
...Why on Earth is someone reviewing a Sierra XR4x4 you might ask? Well, why not? There are still some on the road and there may be some of you out there who are considering buying one, so for what it's worth here's what I think.
I've been a Ford man ever since I passed my driving test 8 years ago and I've had my fair share of XR2's, XR3's, Orion Ghia's etc.. which were all great but there comes a time in a young mans life when a 1.6 engine just doesn't cut the mustard anymore, even if it has got 16 valves and fuel injection. It seemed only natural to move up to a V6 and I've always liked Sierras so the XR4x4, with its 2.9 lump and 4 wheel drive was the only choice.
So after browsing through the Auto Trader one week I picked out a good one and went and bought it. After a bit of haggling I managed to get it for £1200, which might...

Review of Ford Sierra XR4
Advantages: Cheap to buy, superb engine, looks mean Disadvantages: Poor MPG, Enthusiasts only
...You may consider a 1983 car as being a silly investment. You may picture it covered in rust and sounded awful. If you do, you have obviously not tried an XR4i. I have a 1983 2.8V6 model and I can confidently say, it is in better condition than the 4 year old Rover that is in use everyday.
The big V6 under the bonnet starts every time and has never missed a beat
in the year or so that I have owned the car. The car has not faltered once in my hands and it is suprisingly cheap to service if you use an independant. The same cannot be said for the body work. If its damaged, you may as well buy another XR4i for parts as panels unique to that car are exessively hard to come by.
The engine however is an aural delight if you like brute noise. There does not seem to be a limiter so I am cautious not to over rev it. Open it up on a good...

Review of Ford Sierra XR4
Advantages: Safe in Winter (4WD). A lot of car for not a lot of dosh! Disadvantages: MPG!
...I have owned my XR4x4 for 2 years now. We use it mainly as our holiday vehicle as we have 1 3yr old, 1 Labrador and a cat to take with us (Dont ask!). On short journeys, MPG isnt great! However on long trawls, I can do about 450 miles on a tankful.
Luckily enough, I am a mechanic by trade so maintaining the vehicle is relatively easy and cheap. I also have contacts through the family with Ford.
My model is an ex police model, no sunroof/electric windows. What it lacks in gadgets it makes up for on the road as it is fast!
I paid £300 with 12months MOT and 6 months Tax. So far, I have replaced brake discs/pads all round, new front prop U/J (Yes, you can replace them, standard Land Rover ones will fit!)
So far so good, my car will be back on the road in July ready for our holidays. I have fitted a set of OZ rims with Low...

Review of Ford Sierra XR4
Advantages: Light, has a pinlock system, spare parts Disadvantages: DD ring takes more time to hook
..., but it was brilliant for mine head.
DD ring -the safest way to hook helmet. You will never damage it, and it will definitely wont get away in case of the accident.
Pinlock - I was tired to drive motorcycle in morning when my visor of helmet became foggy. SHOEI XR1000 has antifog pinlock, so it can be removed during hot summer, and put on during cold mornings. Easy to put in a bag, or even a book.
Locking positions. This helmets has three visor positions:
"unlocked" when you can open and close visor easily.
"locked" when you are driving at speeds >100km/h, and you can forget about visor, It will definitely won't come out. I even tried to open it with my hands at home, and i couldn't - perfect thing.
"ventilation" visor is holden almost closed, but has a small air intake for better ventilation. Good if you forget your antifog at home...
Advantages: Fast (ish), Fun, well built, plenty of boot space Disadvantages: Tyres
...I have owned my 1986 diamond white XR2, 1600 CVH for 8 years now. I have also owned in that same period a 1.8 Diesel Fiesta, Escort RS1600I & RS Turbo, Ford focus, Ford Cortina Mk1, XR2I (cvh) and driven plenty of other cars such as a Subaru, Audi A8, BMW, Merc ML, Golf IV, 205GTi, 205 rally, Mini Cooper and others.
I love cars. But I don't spend hours polishing them with a tooth brush. I have had the chance to drive quite a few buzz boxes and all are very good. Thing is when it comes to making a choice, I will always pick up the keys for the XR2.
Ok, so I spent a few quid on new parts. But if I compare the price of a new car to the amount I spent on this pocket rocket then the XR2 then it's worth every penny.
What do you get? Well a second had dog normally. Most have been thrashed to an inch of their life. Oil leaks, worn...

Review of Ford Fiesta XR2
Advantages: Price, low running costs, reliability and cheap insurance Disadvantages: Lack of top end speed
...Great bike, little money and a whole lot of fun!
Thats the XR125L summed up in a few words, but let me go a little bit more indepth!
When I first bought mine, I went into a honda show room looking for a CBR125R but when I seen this beside it, I literally laughed at how small the CBR is in comparison to this bike - I read review sites for the CBR and no one listed the height of it, or maybe I ignored it because it looked okay in the pictures!
This little package of joy is a mean looking learner legal machine, guys on big bikes won't believe it's a 125 due to the height and road presence that comes with it.
I've had mine for almost 2 years and have not had a spot of bother even though I've put 10,000 miles on it from new, just a new set of tires and a bulb replacement, which is of minimal cost.
The tires on these machines...

Review of Honda XR125L
Advantages: Quiet, Economical, VERY Forgiving, will last forever cos its a honda! Disadvantages: Low top end speed, not for those with short legs.
...I bought an 06 XR125L5 to use both for commuting and for fun off-road.
This is quite a physically big bike, assuming decent leg length average height male should be fine, however my friend is 6ft (2 inches taller than me) and cannot get both feet on the ground completely flat so if you have short legs this wont be the bike for you.
On-Road
Comfort - smooth ride, takes the local potholes in its stride plus if you are in right gear whisper quiet.
Also very forgiving, wide handlebars make steering nice and gentle.
Speed - from stand still to 40-50 very nippy, getting above 50 takes a while however that might just be my inexperience as I am new to biking.
Off-Road
Tyres- if you live in England and you want to use this bike off road I suggest different tyres, the stock tyres are pretty poor in mud, they are a bit too road biased...

Review of Honda XR125L
Advantages: Well made, light, tough, good looking Disadvantages: Cold in winter with too many drafts, poor visor mechanism
...I'm normally a cheapskate were helmets are concerned. I knock hell out of them, and as a result have always refused to pay more than £150 for one before - that's more than enough to throw away, and even that was painful. I've had Nolan, Bieffe, Bell, and AGV helmets and been generally happy with my lot.
But then I lashed out £4000 on a bike, and the salesman offered an XR900 at a knockdown price as a deal sweetener... so welcome Mr Shone to the world of £300 plus hats.
The XR900 comes in all the standard colours, but the Chimera and one or two other patterns are intended to look custom painted. Mine is red black and white with a gold dragon on the side... very distinctive and slightly oriental looking. Quite cool is the general consensus on the paint job.
The lacquer on the hat is good quality, but like all painted helmets it...
