Citreon Xsara Estate

Advantages: Spacious, economical
Disadvantages: Interior, niggly faults

...I have had a Citreon Xsara Est 1.9DX for 16 months as a company car. In total we have approximately 10 of these vehicles at my work as company cars so this review should give quite a good insight into the car. The car itself is quite a nice looking car from the outside it has quite a nice curved bodyshape and with a set of alloy wheel certainly looks quite good. The car is spacious in-side with room for 3 adults in the rear. The boot is large and cetainly ample for large shopping trips. The seats in the back fold down when required to give a large storage area. The interior is nice enought inside with several cubby holes located around the cabin for storage. The dash itself is pretty standard however there are indigo lights which light up the display which is quite a nice touch. The current model I have has a 10 disc CD changer which...

XSARA DOCTOR IN THE HOUSE

Advantages: Spacious, good looking and reliable
Disadvantages: minor problems after two years and 60000 miles

...Xsara…What a strange name! Perhaps Citroen had a valid reason for naming two of their cars with ridiculous names, maybe we will never know. I bought my brand new Xsara 1.4i, 5-door saloon, in silver grey in January of 2000. My husband had absolutely nothing to do with the choice of car (‘what a brave man’, I hear all you fellow males cry!), and I suppose that it was the efficiency of the dealership which finally swayed me to by this particular make of car above all of the others that I had seemingly spent days wandering around. I didn’t particularly want a new car, but spent a while checking out some offers at the local garages and noticed that I could have a brand new Xsara for just a little more than a 2 year old one (around 7500 used, and 9995 with cash back new). This sounded too good a bargain to me...

Citreon Xsara Picasso 2.0 HDI SX

Advantages: Excellent family car, practical.
Disadvantages: Not very interesting drive

...I originally brought this car for myself after chanig my Audi A4..... what a mistake.....( bare with me i'm not really slagging the car off).. after finding out my wife was pregnant with our daughter i looked at something on the practical side, i didn't want an MPV as i think there a waste of time(yes you have seven seats but no boot space, takes the back seats out and your left with an oversized estate with two two seats stuck in your dining room!!!) any way i decided to take a look at the Picasso it was quite a decent looking car big enough for the kids nice high driving position plenty of room. The Longshaw Estate, Derbyshire

Advantages: Peaceful, tranquil, Free
Disadvantages: Steep Paths that get messy during bad weather

...The Peak District National Park is in my opinion one of the most picturesque places in the whole of England. Ok, I may be a little bit bias since it happens to be on my doorstep but there are so many different places to visit that you could go there every weekend of your life and never go to the same place twice. Amazing family estate car

Advantages: cheap to tax, insure & fuel, comfy, loads of boot space
Disadvantages: annoying indicators, nowhere to put my spare coins

...(100) and it is a 5 door estate in a dark metallic grey/blue which Vauxhall call 'Metro Blue' We had a lot of criteria to fill, so here are some figures to start with which helped swing the decision for us: The CO2 emissions are about 135g/km, making the road tax £120 per year. It is a group 6 insurance, making the insurance costs nice and low. It has a 5 star NCAP rating (which is fairly standard nowadays, but nice to know anyway) The tyres on our club model are 205 55 R 16 so for a budget tyre expect to pay around £50 each, for a medium to high range tyre between £65 and £70 is average, my personal fave a Yokohama S306 is about £63 each fitted, so in my books reasonably cheap. The published combined fuel consumption is about 56MPG and in my experience so far,I would say that is about right. Looks - The Astra comes in...

My trusty Focus estate.

Advantages: Frugal, spacious, built well, handles brilliantly, looks pretty good...

In the end I got the car I'm writing this review on: A 1999 (V) Ford Focus 1.8TDdi [AC] LX Estate. It cost me £1,600. Got 104K miles (106K now) and had had a full service history til 79K, with a cambelt change at the last service. And to be so blunt, I'm chuffed to bits with it. Lovely estate agents

Advantages: Sold my house at asking price

Mt citroen Xsara Picasso

Advantages: Raise the drivers seat up, lots of storage space
Disadvantages: have problems cleaning the roof, or scraping the windscreen if you are short

...I use to own a citroen saxo, and was never going to have a big car, I thrn had a child and my decsion was changed for me, I needed the extra space that the xsara picasso offered. You have the four door bins and a suitable size glove box, as well as the boot space, as do most cars, but when you look in the boot, on the passenger side you will find extra storage hidden, in which I can hide my St john ambulace bomber jacket, and because the boot has no lip, I don't have to lift my childs buggy over, I can slide it in level with my hips. Then in the back on the floor behind both the drivers and passengers seat are another two storage compartments, in which I can keep my car emergencey kit, plus the three seats in the back are all spilt and individual, with their own over the shoulder seat belts, (no lap belts hooray!!) the middle...
