Xtra hassle

...It's gone. Gone! Oh, woe is me! My lovely, shiny l'espion Xtra has been returned to the shop, and I am one very angry consumer. Here's why. The Xtra is the newer, bigger brother of the tiny l'espion digital camera. It is not quite as dinky as its predecessor and the larger lens protrudes slightly instead of lying flush with the surface, but the difference is one of millimetres (the exact dimensions are a minuscule 60 x 40 x 15mm) and it weighs about the same, ie not very much at all. Most importantly, image resolution is now a maximum of 800 by 600 pixels. That's still nowhere near the standard of a regular digital camera but a huge improvement on the l'espion's rather puny 352 by 288, which made it more of a novelty than a serious piece of equipment. Eight megabytes of memory mean it can store over two hundred high...

...Eternal - Power of a Woman One of my favourite girl bands from old were Eternal (this is probably showing my age a bit but oh well). They were popular before The Spice Girls, Girls Aloud etc and I think one of the reasons why they were successful was because they could actually sing and had some lovely harmonies, with beautiful voices that all worked well together. They were also all very pretty as well so I'm sure this added to their success. Eternal were formed in 1992 and eventually ceased as a band around the year 2000. ...In my recent quest to lose weight and get fitter I've become something of a workout DVD addict! I've now worked my way through all of Davina's output, sampled Charlie Brooks and now moving onto Nell McAndrew (only for the brave!) But Davina's are so far my favourite, with her Super Body Workout topping my list, but the Power of 3 coming a close second. The Power of 3 was Davina's first DVD and is just over an hour long, moving through 3 different sections - legs, arms, and abs. It uses interval training to get the heart rate up before performing different exercises intended to tone up the muscles and lose the flab. If you've used the Super Sculpt on Super Body you'll be familiar with interval training and for me, this is a great way to work out as I hate being too out of breath. Jukebox, released in 2008 came with a sigh of relief from fans who had been waiting 8 years for the artist to re-immerge with something else to add to the collections. I dont think they were dissapointed. As a rule I dislike cover albums but this one is just as good as her old The Covers Record (2000) and really shows off her maturity and experience in the field. I like her ode to memphis blues The Greatist but this really gives us something fresh to tackle and in terms of listenability it is much fatter and more diverse making it 10 times more playable than The Greatest. This album was recorded with her touring band The Dirty Delta Blues Band and I think this is what gives this album its live/session feel. Ok so for those...

...Cat Power, or more correctly: Chan Mashall, harkens from Atlanta Georgia and it doesn?t take more than the very first moments of Myra Lee to recognise that she could come from no where else other than one of the southern states of the USofA. The album sounds pretty lo-fi, not tinny or flat but it appears that it was recorded almost entirely in a rehearsal space in New York. No fancy recording studio. The effect works to the benefit of the listener. The opening track, Enough, slowly builds in volume and you feel like you could easily be in some subterranean venue, listening to some late night rock and roll. Compared to other digital camera prices this is quite reasonable as cameras are getting more popular the prices are coming down all the time. The camera is a silver colour and has a thicker end on the right for easy grip.
