Rocking the Boat

Advantages: Fun, zany antics with a great soundtrack

For once we were able to make up our own minds without the American sales telling us whether or not the film was any good. Having said that, it quickly became clear from the UK reviews that The Boat that Rocked was a little like marmite. You love it or you hate it. This review is based entirely on seeing the film at the cinema so who knows what extras they will add to the dvd to tempt buyers. My Stay at the Stenungsbaden Yacht Club, Stenungsund, Sweden.

Advantages: Quality accomodation and food
Disadvantages: A la carte food is expensive

...I stayed in the Stenungsbaden yacht club while on business in Stenungsund in the Autumn of 2008. Rooms are available for around 1000 SEK per night. The hotel is located 45km from Gothenburg and gives excellent access to the North of Sweden and Norway ( from Gothenburg, you follow the road signs for Oslo). Stenungsbaden is located on the outskirts of Stenungsund, and is a 20 minute walk from the Bus and Train station in Stenungsund centre. The view from the hotel, more importantly the marina is spectacular. The hotel backs onto a dense forest, which runs from the hotel to the Tjornbron Bridge. The Tjornbron Lookout, which you'll reach after crossing the Bridge also offers a spectacular panorama. 1 Boat - 8 DJs - No Morals - Fab film!

Advantages: great British film

...I had wanted to see The Boat that Rocked ever since I saw a preview of it on my Mama Mia DVD that I got for Christmas. As it's a British film from the makers of such films as Notting Hill and Love Actually, and it stars Billy Nighy and Rhys Ifans I felt it was definitely going to tick all the right boxes. It subsequently made its way on to my Amazon wish list and finally appeared all neatly wrapped, thanks to my husband, for my birthday last week! We duly settled down to watch the DVD last night and I have to say that the next two hours and ten minutes passed in a very enjoyable flash. I absolutely loved this film from the very first moment that the opening credits appeared right through to the moment when the final credits rolled. Advantages: Award winning restaurants, beautiful views, friendly staff, dogs allowed
Disadvantages: No lift for disabled guests, £100 a night for a standard room is quite expensive

...off. As a relative newbie to the joys of Scotland I was shocked at just how quickly you start to see beautiful countryside on leaving the city of Glasgow. The journey up was very enjoyable for the entire 3 hours due to the beauty of the scenery and the weather too. Hardly the stereotypical view of Scotland. At around 7.30pm we arrived in the former ski resort of Aviemore, the UKs premier winter sports location. It is sad to think that they haven?t had the snow there for ages now. As there were 20 of us doing the walk it hadn?t been possible to find digs for us all in the same B&B or hotel. Most of the places in this area are small hotels with small capacities. All aboard for DIsney's Yacht Club!

Advantages: Beautiful resort hotel, great facilities!
Disadvantages: Not easy on the pocket!

...is spacious and stocks the usual range of Disney merchandise as well as everyday essentials and more usual nautically themed gifts; great souvenirs! The Yacht Club is another deluxe resort and like the Boardwalk Villas is to be found between the theme parks EPCOT and MGM Studios meaning that you have the choice (and luxury!) of walking into the EPCOT via the International Getaway and finding yourself at between the UK and France or catching a boat for a very short walk to MGM Studios. Access to other theme parks (Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom) as well as other attractions is via Disney bus! ...The boat that rocked is one of those really feel good films, that reminds you not to take life too seriously. It is a light hearted take on the going's on aboard a pirate radio ship during the 1960's, in a time where the government is attempting to shut down all radio stations of the rock and pop variety. The music that defined the generation is being listened to secretly by thousands of Britons.
