...really, its a shame they dont give you more string as nearly all have been broken in just a few months by constant practising and tuning. This is the only downfall of the whole package, but for the price we can live with it. This is not really a 'jumbo' guitar, I supose it is a little larger than one you would buy if you were really good, but it is alot smaller than her first guitar. Even i couldn't get to all the strings, they were so spaced out and the neck was a tad long. No problems wih the Yamaha though, all strings are easy to get to and you can cover much more space on the neck quicker. The CD.... Remembering that this is an acoustic guitar we were surprised to hear an electric guitar playing all the tracks on the cd!! Disadvantages: Low on looks, high on practicality

...Yamaha are well known for motorbikes and keyboards, but over the last 20 years they have built up a fantastic reputation for building guitars of the very highest quality, and at prices usually well below the more illustrious names in the business such as Gibson, Fender and PRS. They also have the advantage that they are readily available from most music shops, so you don't have to go searching for them. I bought my Yamaha Pacifica 112 a couple of years ago from eBay, and paid the princely sum of £40 for it. Yamaha 12 String Acoustic Guitar

...If you've read many of my op's you've probably figured out I'm a musical type of person, but not the type that jingles whilst walking. For years I have enjoyed playing rhythm guitar both privately and on the road but never more so than on my Yamaha 12 String. It's a lovely full size instrument that creates amazing volume even without an amp, and by far outdoes all the other acoustics I have had or used in the past, and I have had some nice ones. The overall design is pretty standard at first glance, but if you look a little closer, or better yet actually try one you can appreciate the really low fretting that gives a very smooth action, and in the case of my one having dreadnought fretting it's even smoother. Guitar on a budget.

Advantages: cheap, starter guitar
Disadvantages: cheap-looking finish, small

...this looks a bit tacky and a bit cheap. Coupled with this is the fact that the guitar has been finished with gloss, to make it shiny. This makes it appear to me to look very tacky, and I personally do not like its appearance very much. As an aside, they do not to my knowledge make this guitar in any other colours/finishes, so you're stuck with this look. However, as we all know, appearances are not everything, so I sat down to play it. I found that the guitar played quite nicely, as I was expecting from a yamaha. The tone of the guitar was deep and rich, much deeper than perhaps I would be expecting. However, the sound was quite dull or dead, comparitively, and I was looking for a guitar with a bit ring or twang to it, so this did appeal too much to me. At the time the only guitars I knew of were the Les Pauls, Stratocasters and any guitar made by Fender, so I was a bit disppointed to be greeted with a Yamaha make. Nautical themed guitars? Whats next?

Advantages: Beautiful guitar, rich sound and great construction
Disadvantages: Pre-amp can have a little high treble.

..., Smokey venues, the electronics have never faltered. I've never had any construction problems, the guitar is built like a beautiful rock. Would I Recommend it? For the price which can (new) be between £600 - £750, definitely. It is a strong guitar, with a real natural feel. It is at the top of the middle range of acoustic guitars, however if you are looking for something cheaper, there are cheaper guitars from Yamaha, and maybe looking at Crafter could be beneficial. If you are looking for top of the range, then there are other guitar manufacturers that make better guitars at £750 onwards. But if you are considering buying this guitar do, it is a beautiful instrument to own and play, and really holds it own against the competition....
