The Yamaha PSR 340 Keyboard (portable)

...I purchased this keyboard from my friend second hand as I couldnt really aford to buy a new one. She hadnt really used it much except for christmas and the odd time when she wanted to pass time. I paid £190.00 which I think inst all that low a price under the one she paid for it 5 years ago. However I cant complain we've had some good use out of it and has even taught my 5 year old some whole piano songs - his favourite being three blind mice at the moment and, of course, the simpsons theme tune! What I love most about this Keyboard is that you can ta it ke on the go! Sounds like a toy for children, but was actually developed in 1999 for adults and professional play. The Yamaha Blaster - The small contender

Advantages: Lightweight, powerful 200cc two-stroke motor, proven over time
Disadvantages: Wheel base and width cause instability in some situations.

Its success has mainly been down to the large spread of potential buyers that it caters for. Although its main target is the rookie rider, it has sufficient power to thrill most users while providing good value for money and great reliability. Fantastic keyboard, so lovely to type on...

Advantages: Separated keys; very nice to type on, very nice to look at (doh!)

...I've just purchased the Apple Snow Leopard Mac Box Set from my local Apple authorised service provider, and decided to buy an Apple keyboard with it. The Apple keyboard is priced around £28.00 - and no matter what keyboard I try I can type the fastest with this keyboard due to the separated keys. Very quiet key stroke during operation and just very pleasant to use. The keyboard enclosure is made from aluminium and even without being too close to the keyboard you can smell the aluminium when you first open the product, but the smell soon wares off. Roaring off on my Yamaha

Advantages: The Yamaha brand name
Disadvantages: Low on looks, high on practicality

...Yamaha are well known for motorbikes and keyboards, but over the last 20 years they have built up a fantastic reputation for building guitars of the very highest quality, and at prices usually well below the more illustrious names in the business such as Gibson, Fender and PRS. ...This is a good quality keyboard that offers good value for money in the short term. Although as with most electronic products, the value will deteriorate over time and should be anle to get a cheaper version next year. It incorporates most of the latest features and technology that is currently available on the market. The consumer will have to spend a short period of self-training in order to become fully acquainted with using the product. This can be achieved fairly efficiently by making reference to the guide/instructions that comes in the box. After using this product for a few months I have not so far come up against any reliability issues but only time will tell. I therefore have to recommend the product....

...Other than from an economic angle, I was never a fan of Yamaha acoustic pianos. So back in the 1980s it came as no surprise when their digital instruments failed to impress me. In my opinion Yamaha pianos sounded too 'wooden' at the top end. They had none of the 'singing' tones common to European pianos like Blüthner, Bösendorfer or Bechstein. However, after moving into an apartment in 1996 I was obliged to get a piano that took cans and chose a Technics PR900, which in my view was the nearest thing to an acoustic piano. It sounded like some of the best German pianos I had played. Early incarnations of this model had a very annoying background 'static', only noticeable when the piano was silent.
