Yasmin Success

Advantages: Lighter/regular periods, no pregnancy, no side effects.
Disadvantages: Can be difficult to remember to take it, other than that no problems.

...I've been on the Yasmin pill for nearly a year now, and was prescribed it following an appointment with my doctor when I explained how irregular and painful my periods were. On hearing this, she prescribed me with the pill Yasmin and explained that I may experience some problems, but it was to be expected. ...I have been on Yasmin for just one month now and cannot wait until my 3 month check up to come off it! I was prescribed Yasmin to sort out what is thought to be a hormornal disorder but it is just awful and I can't decide which is worse - taking Yasmin or doing nothing. The contaceptive benefits do nothing for me as my spouse had a vasectomy years ago. The bloating & weight gain began within the first week and the migraines started shortly after as did the constant nausea! I felt better in my first trimesters of my two pregnancies! Ugg! I am physically exhausted and my eyes ache. As it has only been one month and my doctor wants me taking the pills straight through for 3 months without stopping for periods, I will cross my fingers that things improve! They have to, right? ;)...

Yasmin works for me

Advantages: Clearer skin, regular light periods, no period pain
Disadvantages: Slight sicky feeling on the first couple of days.

...I was prescribed Yasmin because I had been having some mild acne problems on my previous pill (Ovranette). I started taking it and then read some of the reviews on here and other sites and was completely horrified by some of the horror stories!! I have to say, I have taken Yasmin for two months now and I get along with it fine. The only thing I have noticed is that I do feel slightly nauseous for the first couple days of the packet but that soon subsides and I feel normal again. My skin has improved over this time and I haven't put on any weight. I also haven't suffered with greasy hair or depression. I don't think anyone should be put off of trying Yasmin just by reading some of the negative reviews about it. Yasmin Pro's and Con's

Advantages: weight loss, clearer skin, lighter periods!
Disadvantages: dramatic decrease in sex drive, extreme tiredness! double periods!

...my experience with Yasmin has been a good one, this is the second pill i have been prescribed as the first one i went on which i think was Dianette was absolutely awful, my skin was so spotty and greasy, i put on about a stone in weight, my moods were awful and i just cried at anything, and was feeling rather depressed. So i went back to the brook and they said that Yasmin would help with my skin and my moods, after the first 3 months i was feeling much much happier and more my usual self, and my skin was back to normal and clear! also my usually very heavy periods were much lighter and the awful period cramps eased up to the point of hardly feeling them! I also lost half a stone extra when i went on Yasmin, after loosing the initial stone i put on when taking dianette, overall i was very pleased with the results and would recomend...

Yasmin has changed my life for the better!

Advantages: Very few side effects
Disadvantages: May have difficulty getting doctor to agree to prescribing it

Yasmin - don't give it up too soon!

Advantages: great cycle control, clearer skin, stable moods, weight loss, effective contraception
Disadvantages: slight nausea and tender breasts for 2 months, acne increases at first.

...Yasmin is a combined oral contraceptive. It contains drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol. Drosperinone is a fairly new progestogen, and is the closest to the natural female progesterone hormone. It also functions as an anti-androgen and when combined with ethinyl estradiol (the "oestrogen" component), it can be highly effective as an acne and hirsuitism treatment without the harsher side effects of other drugs. Yasmin contains Ethinylestradiol 30 micrograms plus drospirenone 3 mg. It is a monophasic pill - 1 pill per day for 21 days followed by a pill-free interval of 7 days, where a period-style bleed can take place. Advantages: Bigger chest!
Disadvantages: Really spotty skin, weight gain, mood swings, sad most of the time, emotional

...My doctor prescibed Yasmin after I'd been taking Dianette which no longer agreed with me. My main reason for being on the pill and have been since I was 15 (I'm now 31) is that I suffer with endometriosis tho this has considerably improved over the years. So now mainly for use as a contraceptive and to help with the acne I've now got (something I'd never suffered as a teenager! how gutting is that?!)
