...I have been on Yasmin for just one month now and cannot wait until my 3 month check up to come off it! I was prescribed Yasmin to sort out what is thought to be a hormornal disorder but it is just awful and I can't decide which is worse - taking Yasmin or doing nothing. The contaceptive benefits do nothing for me as my spouse had a vasectomy years ago. The bloating & weight gain began within the first week and the migraines started shortly after as did the constant nausea! I felt better in my first trimesters of my two pregnancies! Ugg! I am physically exhausted and my eyes ache. As it has only been one month and my doctor wants me taking the pills straight through for 3 months without stopping for periods, I will cross my fingers that things improve! They have to, right? ;)...

Yasmin

Advantages: Didn't Fall Pregnant, sorted out my periods
Disadvantages: sickness and sore heads

...I had been on several other pills since the age of 18, but they all seemed to make me put on weight, due to other health problems which the weigh gain affected I came off them all for 6 years, it took 3 years for me to lose the 2 stones i had put on and hadn't been able to shift whilst on the pill, i can only assume that the pill stays in your system for awhile dependant on how long you took it. My doctor recommended Yasmin as a new pill last year saying that trials carried out stated that there would be no weight gain. So i tried it out for 6 months, you take Yasmin for 21 days have your usual 7 days off then repeat, ok it made my periods more regular and less painful along with easing the pain I have in my breasts for 2 weeks due to fibroids, but for the 1st month i felt sick all the time. Yasmin Success

Advantages: Lighter/regular periods, no pregnancy, no side effects.
Disadvantages: Can be difficult to remember to take it, other than that no problems.

...I've been on the Yasmin pill for nearly a year now, and was prescribed it following an appointment with my doctor when I explained how irregular and painful my periods were. On hearing this, she prescribed me with the pill Yasmin and explained that I may experience some problems, but it was to be expected. If they got worse, then I would end up having to go back to change to another pill. I never had to do that, even when I started it up for the first time I experienced no side effects. The only problems I had with headaches were caused by other factors. This is the first and only pill that I have personally tried, and I was (still am) surprised by the effectiveness. Yasmin Pro's and Con's

Advantages: weight loss, clearer skin, lighter periods!
Disadvantages: dramatic decrease in sex drive, extreme tiredness! double periods!

...my experience with Yasmin has been a good one, this is the second pill i have been prescribed as the first one i went on which i think was Dianette was absolutely awful, my skin was so spotty and greasy, i put on about a stone in weight, my moods were awful and i just cried at anything, and was feeling rather depressed. So i went back to the brook and they said that Yasmin would help with my skin and my moods, after the first 3 months i was feeling much much happier and more my usual self, and my skin was back to normal and clear! also my usually very heavy periods were much lighter and the awful period cramps eased up to the point of hardly feeling them! I also lost half a stone extra when i went on Yasmin, after loosing the initial stone i put on when taking dianette, overall i was very pleased with the results and would recomend...

Yasmin - the early days

Advantages: Bigger boobs
Disadvantages: Mood swings, headaches and thats just for starters

...I was prescribed Yasmin due to its low strength and the fact that the levogestronel that is used in lots of other pills was making me feel nauseous and at times I was sick. ...I am a 27yr old mother of 1 son ages 20months. I started taking the Contraceptive pill in 2000, beginning with Microlite and then Dianette. I stopped taking the pills whilst trying for a family in 2005. After the birth of my son in Jan 08, my doctor prescribed me Yasmin in April 2008. A few days after the beginning of my 2nd month (June) I developed a sore swollen leg. I was diagnosed with a severe ileo femeral DVT in my right leg, going from my knee to my chest, i had a localized clot in my other thigh and a PE to the lung. Me and Yasmin...

Advantages: Bigger chest!
Disadvantages: Really spotty skin, weight gain, mood swings, sad most of the time, emotional

...My doctor prescibed Yasmin after I'd been taking Dianette which no longer agreed with me. My main reason for being on the pill and have been since I was 15 (I'm now 31) is that I suffer with endometriosis tho this has considerably improved over the years. So now mainly for use as a contraceptive and to help with the acne I've now got (something I'd never suffered as a teenager! how gutting is that?!) I was given just three months pills as I also suffer migraines to keep a diary of headache attacks and generally see how I got on...what a nightmare I'm in the midst of having! Yasmin has changed my life for the better!

Advantages: Very few side effects
Disadvantages: May have difficulty getting doctor to agree to prescribing it

...I have been prescribed many different brands of contraceptive pill over the years. I can't remember which the one I first had was but it was withdrawn as there was a scare related to it. Then after a few different changes I was put on Cilest - this was fine for a few months but then I developed extremely bad PMT and depression. It got so bad I had thoughts of suicide and I eventually realised after reading an article in a magazine that it may be related to my pill and went to my doctor to ask for it to be changed. Yasmin has actually changed my life

Advantages: No more irrational moods AT ALL, more energy, sex drive back to normal, big boobs!
Disadvantages: A little nausea, possible increased frequency of urination. These hardly stand up against the bad

...I've been on other pill for 5 years now (first microgynon and then marvelon) and always thought I just got easily upset over things. I got put on yasmin because of heavy periods and have just started the second pack. I feel totally happy all the time and nothing that would have reduced me to tears before even bugs me. It's absolutely amazing. I can't believe I didn't realise the other pills were making me so tired and insane. I'm now looking at all this stuff in my life positively and it's like I've had some big awakening or something cos I feel so much better. Also, my struggling A cup boobs are now almost too big for a B cup, which is rather nice. Only downsides are a slight bit of nausea when starting and finishing a pack (although this may go after time I guess, I've only done one pack) but never to the point where I've thought...
