2001: A Space Odyssey review

...2001: A Space Odyssey is a sci-fi film made in 1968, directed by Stanley Kubrick and written by Kubrick and Arthur C. Clarke. One of the recurring themes in this film is evolution. The first 30 mins or so have no dialogue at all, and focus on a very distant point in our past, when a group of herbivore apes are attacked, and one is killed, by a leopard. They are also driven from their water hole by another tribe, so they sleep in a rock crater overnight. When they wake up, they notice that a huge black monolith has appeared in front of them. They are very curious as to what this is, and one of them touches it. Not long after, this particular ape remembers the monolith and realises he can use a bone as a weapon to defend himself. So they go back and kill the tribe that took over their water hole and, jubilant, the aforementioned ape...

2001 Maniacs - Slightly misses the mark

Advantages: Great gore scenes, acting is so bad its laughable

Year 2001 summarised

Advantages: Its motor racing at its best
Disadvantages: big teams have too much of an advantage over lesser ones

...performance , beating his nearest rival , David Coulthard , by almost 2:1 , and third placed man ( and fellow team-mate ) Rubens Barrichello , by just other the 2:1 ratio . Add to this that with regards the constructors championship , that Ferrari were the only team to score in all 2001 races , and what do you get , yep you guessed it , only one team in with a shout . In fact if it hadn?t of been for reliability problems suffered by Barrichello towards the end of the season , then it almost certainly would have been a whitewash ( or is it scarletwash ) for the Italian giants . The only thing Ferrari failed to monopolise was the now allowed traction control , an area that was ruled by Benetton of all teams . The Complete First Yeat Planner is a guide to help you enjoy a healthy pregnancy and a stress free and healthy first year including over 80 delicious recipes for you and your baby. If you are looking for a one stop book to see you through the whole time then this is definitely for you. Generally I always find that there are books for preganacy and then there are books regarding how to deal with the first year but not many are combined so this is a good book for that. The first section of the book has a really good nutrition section for the expectant mother. I found this to be quite comprehensive compared to some other books I have read. I liek the fact that it points out "superfoods," those whicha re going to be very beneficial for your health and it makes it easy to stick to...

...Few would deny the impact of 2001 - A Space Odyssey or the ingenuity of Arthur C. Clarke, but I believe that this story really lacks any fluidity and detail in its concepts. Also one of the main plots of the story is not fully explored, but it is hardly Stanely Kubrick's direction which is at fault. This is a story charting man's progress to the current pinnacle of achievement - SPACE TRAVEL and ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE. While the introduction of the development of early ape-man's use of tools (which is very impressive - for a 1960s film I was surprised how excellent the gorilla costumes were it did not look fake at all) Anyway the film then abruptly enters the 21st century on board a space ship. Nothing is particularly missing, but as the story continues the story does not explain certain events or their significance it merely...

You will be surprised at the amount of freebies available, as there are hundreds and also of surprises in terms of the things you thought you could never get for free on the web. ...Despite this being many years ago, I have felt the need to write about my nightmare of a year and let it all out. It may have been several years ago but I really do need to write about it all one last time and move on completely. I actually did write about literally the entire year on my MySpace blog but after growing a few years wiser, maybe starting over again would be the right idea.
