I started reading Enid Blyton books (mainly Famous Five) from pretty young and kept reading until well into my teens. Recently, I decided to reread The Island of Adventure after a tough week at work because I wanted something that required little effort to read. I enjoyed it and have fished the rest of the series out of storage to read. They are definitely intended as children?s books, but should appeal to anyone with a healthy sense of adventure. Just be careful, if you give these books to kids, that they may start hunting around for dens of kidnappers and smugglers whose plots they can foil. I never did find any. Review of The Valley Of Adventure - Enid Blyton

What an adventure!

...This is my last of my reviews of American theme parks, and I've saved the best park for last. Islands of Adventure (IoA) is part of the Universal Studios group and was built around 12 years ago (they were just building it the last time I had been to Universal). I was in Orlando with 3 friends so we were keen on theme parks with more exciting rides to offer and IoA did not disappoint. GETTING THERE: IoA is part of the same park complex that holds Universal Studios. As with most Orlando attractions it is fairly well signposted. You just need to get onto the I4, the main road through Orlando, and it is signposted off this. There is a ridiculous amount of parking available. Make sure you remember which character and which number you are parked in otherwise you'll be searching for that rental car for hours! Each section is...

The Year of Fear

For me we are coming out of the decade of fear and propaganda and into the decade of none of that fear materialising. She advertises an Oil of Ulay product with the slogan: 'Olay is my secret to brighter looking eyes'. The Sims 3: World Adventures

Advantages: The countries are really detailed and the new Sims are great!
Disadvantages: Time doesn't pass when you're on holiday, adventures aren't very sim-like!

...World Adventures is the first (probably of many!) expansion pack for the Sims 3. It is an unusual choice for the first pack, being quite a deviation from the normal Sims gameplay. World Adventures allows your Sims to visit three different countries; Egypt, China and France. The main idea of the pack is that you complete different adventures in each area (hence the title!) and this is what initially put me off getting the game. I play the Sims because I like the gameplay of it, not because I want to play an adventure or puzzle game!
