...I've just had the misfortune of watching Yes Man, and you can probably guess that I was really disappointed. Synopsis Carl is a bank clerk in charge of approving or denying loans most of which he denies. After separating from his wife, he has withdrawn into his shell and no longer enjoys the company of his friends. In short he's turned into a grumpy old man, that is until he runs into an old friend whilst he's eating his lunch. His friends tells him of a seminar that's coming up in a few days, which gas changed his life for the better. The concept is simple, you can improve your life by saying 'yes'. And that's what Carl decides to do, but it's not as easy as it sounds, there are somethings you just want to say no to, the trouble is bad things happen when Carl says no. Jim Carrey, the man who like to say yes?

Advantages: Quirky, endearing performances. Restrained Carrey
Disadvantages: Random gross-out moments are misplaced.

...Carl is a man who doesn't say "yes" to much. As a result he has managed to be rejected for promotion and has become isolated from friends as he lets them down time after time. Endless DVD nights on his own are commonplace and his life becomes more tragic by the minute. However, a chance meeting with an old friend may well change all that as Carl is about to become the man who likes to say yes! "Yes Man" is massively different from what I was expecting. The concept is almost a verbatim copy of Jim Carrey's previous film "Liar Liar" and I was expecting more of the same. ...Yes Man by Danny Wallace is the book on which the recent Jim Carey film was (very) loosely based. I'll be honest, I watched the film first and I had a mild inclination to then read the book. I was intrigued by the philosophy to the point where I contemplated trying it out for a week (saying "Yes" to anything and everything), if I was less lazy and more confident I would have. Perhaps I still will. When I noticed a friend at work was reading the book I asked if I could borrow it. He's a very slow reader, so I had to wait as the weeks ticked by, but finally he leant it to me a week or so ago. It's taken priority over my other books so I can return it to him quickly. Just Say "YES!!!!"

Advantages: Enjoyable, funny, light-hearted, different from other romantic comedies
Disadvantages: If you dont like Jim Carrey you wont enjoy it!

Are you a yes person or a no person?

Advantages: Quite amusing in parts/its quite lighthearted but makes you think, not long winded, the characters
Disadvantages: Its quite predictable, perhaps not overly realistic at the start/mid way through (read review)

Say 'yes' to your exciting life!

Advantages: Fun, easy to watch and not too silly acting from Jim Carrey

...Another one of my marathon cinema sessions saw me seeing 'Yes Man' which is Jim Carrey's latest offering. I was sceptical as to whether it would be any good as really is it not just the same kind of concept as his older film Liar Liar? Well, it seemed that was the choice of film in our group that most of us could agree on and being told by another who had previously seen it that it was actually pretty good I was happy to take the risk! Is it worth to watch it ? YES !!!

Advantages: Gives very good lesson, has very good story and moreover is very entertaining.
Disadvantages: The second half of movie was a little bit dull.

...Yes Man- starring Jim Carrey and Zooey Deschanel is director Peyton Reed's next big film after Breakup.It seems romantic comedy is his thing and he certainly succeeds in achieving what he was set out to-to entertain the audience.
