...Yes Man is a comedy starring Jim Carrey. The film is based on a book by Danny Wallace and basically tells the story of a man who starts to say ?Yes? to every opportunity that comes his way regardless of what it is. Interestingly enough Danny Wallace makes a little appearance sitting at the bar, I knew it was him as I had seen him on Richard and Judy some time ago talking about his book and his experiences of deciding to say yes to every opportunity. Are you a yes person or a no person?

Advantages: Quite amusing in parts/its quite lighthearted but makes you think, not long winded, the characters
Disadvantages: Its quite predictable, perhaps not overly realistic at the start/mid way through (read review)

Advantages: Quirky, endearing performances. Restrained Carrey
Disadvantages: Random gross-out moments are misplaced.

...Carl is a man who doesn't say "yes" to much. As a result he has managed to be rejected for promotion and has become isolated from friends as he lets them down time after time. Endless DVD nights on his own are commonplace and his life becomes more tragic by the minute. ...Yes Man by Danny Wallace is the book on which the recent Jim Carey film was (very) loosely based. I'll be honest, I watched the film first and I had a mild inclination to then read the book. I was intrigued by the philosophy to the point where I contemplated trying it out for a week (saying "Yes" to anything and everything), if I was less lazy and more confident I would have. Perhaps I still will. When I noticed a friend at work was reading the book I asked if I could borrow it. He's a very slow reader, so I had to wait as the weeks ticked by, but finally he leant it to me a week or so ago. It's taken priority over my other books so I can return it to him quickly. Advantages: Fun, easy to watch and not too silly acting from Jim Carrey

...Another one of my marathon cinema sessions saw me seeing 'Yes Man' which is Jim Carrey's latest offering. I was sceptical as to whether it would be any good as really is it not just the same kind of concept as his older film Liar Liar? Well, it seemed that was the choice of film in our group that most of us could agree on and being told by another who had previously seen it that it was actually pretty good I was happy to take the risk! Ohhh Yes!!!!

Advantages: Great comic performance for Norm
Disadvantages: Don't expect it to be like the book

...I wanted to see this film as soon as it came out. I waited till I had finished the book but I need not have bothered as the content of the book in the end bore little resemblance to the film. I like Jim Carrey (more in his serious roles) and so was eagerly awaiting the film. Apart from a few tenuous links, the film could have almost stood on its own away from the book even to the point of changing names of lead characters to ones American audiences would be more familiar with. I think this sadly says more about America in general than Hollywood. As an entertainment piece, the film flows nicely and is funny in places. The start of the show for me was Carl's geeky boss, Norm, who has some very funny dialogue. ...As a fan of Tony Hawks, it was probably only a matter of time before I ended up delving into the strange world of Danny Wallace. I'd heard of the rather strange things he'd got up to with his friend Dave Gorman without ever seeing the TV series or reading the books and thought that they would be an ideal way of filling the time before the next Tony Hawks book. The set up for "Yes Man" is a bit more random than with Tony Hawks' adventures, as the latter tends to accept a bet from his friends. Danny Wallace, however, happened to end up sitting next to some random guy on a bus who advised him to "Say Yes More".
