**TRANSPORT**
We got off the Greyhound bus and were supposed to walk to the hostel. Luck was on out side and the kind Greyhound driver brought us to our hostel. If he didn't it would have been about a 10-15 minute walk, which would have seemed miles with a large suitcase, rucksack and 2 small rucksacks (we would have struggled). If your baggage weren't heavy it would have been hard. Leaving the hostel we had to catch a flight. A shuttle bus was arranged at reception and cost $8 per person...
Advantages: inexpensive, spacious, well-equipped, modern Disadvantages: had to leave by 10am!
...Situated in the Castlefield, the historic area of the city, YHA Manchester is within easy walking distance of shops, pubs, night clubs - in fact, everything in the city centre. It's ideal for foreign travellers, or just those needing a night stopover in Manchester. Forget your preconceptions of youth hostels - this is more like a hotel than anything! I paid £19 for an ensuite room with a TV, kettle and lockable storage space. This also includes breakfast, which is an impressive choice of a full English / Vegetarian or Continental.
There is 24-hour access to the hostel and parking for those who arrive with a car. For all the guests, there is use of a lounge, TV lounge, games room with pool table, laundry facilities, canal side restaurant with table licence, self-catering kitchen, secure lockers, foreign currency exchange and free bed...

Review of YHA Youth Hostel
Advantages: Cheap, Nice Sevice, Good Breakfast, Spacious Rooms, Excellent Ammenities Disadvantages: A long walk to the Apollo (but not to the city centre)
...If you need a place in Manchester to stay for the weekend and the ‘Governor’ Hotel’s prices are extortionate, then look no further than Manchester’s own YHA. This is where I came to stay for a night while seeing the Manic Street Preachers in Concert at the Apollo Theatre and I really can see why this is the best Youth Hostel in the country.
The YHA is situated just off the centre of Manchester in the Castlefield area. The building is adjacent to the canals that run past and offer good views as well as nosey Canadian Geese. It is in suitable reach for anyone wanting to get into Manchester by foot, as the shops are only a five minute walk away. Also next door is the Museum of Science and Technology and remains of the Roman fort that used to stand there during Vespsian’s occupation of England.
The YHA...

Review of YHA Youth Hostel
Advantages: Great Location very cheap in off season Disadvantages: Small Kitchen
...Darwin YHA
Darwin YHA is in central Darwin walking distance from all the bars and restaurants.
Rooms:
We were very pleased with our room at the Darwin YHA, 6 bed female dorm room which came with its own fridge and en-suite bathroom.
Bunk bed styles the beds where comfortable, Air conditioning was amazing and defiantly a necessity as it was so hot in Darwin.
It was great to have our own fridge in our room as it meant we could have cold water any time we wanted and keep our entire food safe in the room.
The En-Suite bathroom was also a luxury, it really made a huge difference for getting ready, no more having to walk down the corridor in a towel etc..
Facilities:
This hostel had a great pool area, the pool it self was quite big and always very popular as it was so hot, around the pool area where plenty...

Review of Darwin YHA, Darwin
Advantages: Cheaper Good Location Disadvantages: Hot Noisy Sweaty Nights
...Broome YHA ? The Kimberly Klub
Broome YHA is located in central Broome, walking distance from the town centre, it is about 20 minuets from the famous Cable Beach but the hostel to offer a free mini bus service to and from the beach.
Rooms:
Having stayed in YHA Hostels before I have to say we where a little disappointed when we saw the room, we opted for 10 bed dorm room this time to save some money but as it turned out we were the only ones in the room anyway which was a good thing.
The bad things were that we had no real air conditioning apart from a fan which didn?t really help at all, it was very hot and humid in Broom and all the fan was doing was pushing the hot air around.
Noise was also a real issue in the hostel, all of the big dorm rooms are next to each other and the walls in-between do not reach the top...
Advantages: good for people on a budget Disadvantages: not a hotel so standard is alot less
...Alice Springs Pioneer YHA
While I was in Australia we made are way to the centre and got to stay a night in Alice Springs. As we had booked the rest of our hostels through YHA we decided to keep it simple and book Alice Springs through them too.
YHA Australia is part of the world's largest backpacker accommodation network, Hostelling International (HI), providing more than 4,000 YHA hostels in over 60 countries. To be honest each hostel is individually run so the standard does vary. Each hostel is given stars Alice Springs was 4 star.
Alice Springs YHA had a reception where you could ask any questions you wanted. If you had any problems with your room or you wanted to book a trip all could be done here.
The man on the reception confirmed our tour to Uluru and was very friendly even though we had left it late to sort...
Advantages: Beautiful building, loads of facilities, near to the town centre Disadvantages: Never know who you're sharing a room with!
...breakfast of croissants, cheese, various butters and jams, and fruit. All tasting delicious apart from the toast which was a little cold.
If you are so inclined you could order a picnic lunch at a reasonable price of £4.10, packed full it was too.
Check out I at 10.30 and if you are staying more than 1 night you do have to re-check in, but you can keep your things in the room.
Did we enjoy it? Absolutely, 2 nights away with breakfast for £67 which included joining the YHA for £15.00. Anywhere else would have cost me £50+ per night and not had all the facilities we enjoyed. Of course its not for the bashful as you never know who you?re in the room with, but we did meet some fantastic people.
In fact we enjoyed it so much we?re giving the holiday camp a miss this year and are going to work our way through Cornwall down to the Lizard...

Review of YHA (Salisbury )
...Sydney Central YHA
I stayed in 5* Sydney Central YHA when I was travelling in Australia. We stayed here at the end of our trip as we had stayed at other YHA's and they had worked out good value for money and were easy to book.
It cost $120 for a double/twin ensuite room. There are different prices for various rooms and the price will vary slightly for a multi-share adult $30 and $88 for a twin room. One United Kingdom pound is equal to roughly 1.75 Australian dollars.
The hostel itself is very large and has a reception, which is open 24 hours. Even if you are not staying in the hostel you can book trips from here as well. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I found that even if you wanted help with getting work or a telephone card they helped with all sorts of queries.
For security reasons you are given a swipe card...
Advantages: Great, Clean Friendly Hostel Disadvantages: More Expensive
...Perth City YHA
Perth City YHA is in a great location, walking distance from the main shopping area and bars and restaurants. Railway and Bus services are close by.
Rooms:
Dorm rooms are available from 4 ? 10 Bed, we opted for a 4 bed dorm room so that we could all stay together, and the room was a good size with two bunk beds. All linen is provided, lockers are available for use in the rooms but you will need your own padlock.
The hostel had an overall feeling of cleanliness which was great and the female bathrooms where very nicely kept.
We had been warned previously that this hostel could be noisy and that you can hear the trains going by at the railway, but we are pleased to say we never heard a thing.
Facilities:
The kitchen at this hostel has to be one of the biggest I have seen; there are also ample food...
Advantages: Cheap, clean, central, comfortable Disadvantages: No privacy, poor bathrooms
...Rolleston House youth hostel is a HI hostel (YHA affiliated, i.e. you get a discount) on Worcester St in the centre of Christchurch, New Zealand. It is situated close to several bus stops, including the bus to the airport (which starts running early in the morning).
I came as a lone traveller here two years ago and found it an excellent base to stay. It was cheap (less than £15 per night), clean, in a nice area, and was a good place to meet like-minded travellers of all ages. The dorms were fairly small (4 bunk beds of two beds) and were mixed. The showers were very basic but clean and there were too few of them (only two in the women's bathroom).
The communal kitchens were large and well-provisioned; there are several grocery stores within a five minute walk of the hostel. There was an excellent library of books and videos that other...
