Reviews of yorkie
It's Not a Yorkie...It's a Blokie
Review of Nestle Yorkie by
Volvagia
Advantages: Very Thick Chocolate
Disadvantages: Tastes a bit bland
...The worst marketing campaign of the centuary by a mile. 'It's not for Girls'...Yeah, that's why it's on sale in Boys and Girls schools up and down the country. Can you honestly imagine a Newsagent denying a Girl of buying one of these because apparentley Nestle are not selling to half of the country's population? Nope, niether can I. But away from the awfully stupid marketing campaigns, how does the chocolate bar fare? Let's see...
Packaging
Blue all over. On the front, yellow letters spelling out'Yorkie'. The 'O' is a red circle with a line through it, depicting a woman holding a hand bag. Down the side, 'It's NOT for girls', then on the other side, 'Original' is written. The bar weighs 68g, which is quite a lot for a chocolate bar. In a stack of chocolate, it is immediately visable, too.
Shape
The Yorkie bar is in large chunks...

My Yorkie desparation
Review of Yorkie Raisin and Biscuit by
mightyred
Advantages: MMMmmm.... nice chunky chunks of chocolate
Disadvantages: Not quite as nice as the original.....
...Right, I'm a big Yorkie fan - in fact, they are probably my favourite chocolate bars (something my fiancee finally twigged, resulting in a huuuuggee Yorkie bar at Christmas!)
Normally, I grab a plain Yorkie from the vending machine at about 3.30pm to get me through the final hours of work. However, yesterday almost turned into a disaster until I noticed that there were some raisin and biscuit Yorkies left, even if there weren't any plain ones.
Being the adventurous guy I am, I decided to plump for one. Now, I'll admit - I don't particularly like raisins but I can eat them, which probably taints my opinion ever so slightly! ;)
To be honest - it wasn't that bad considering. It probably would lovely for someone who likes raisins more than I do, but still - it was more than edible and I'd buy one again.
There are about 6...

Yorkie bar
Review of Nestle Yorkie Top Dad by
dingoo
Advantages: large taste nice, nice cold
Disadvantages: not for girls, thick to heavy
...Right as a dad and a 30 something some of a truck driver I have a great affiliation with the good old Yorker as I guess being launched in 1976 the year I was born I should have an attachment.
I am surprised at the new sort of sexist slant on the not for girls slogan but it is quite chunky I guess and not to lady unlike.
Yorkies are great I have fond memories of a kid watching the adverts with the trucks and drivers.
I love my chocolate and although not my number one from time to time I do like the odd yorkie specially oversized ones like this at 300g of rock heavy milk chocolate.
You could defiantly say this bar wasn't for a girl as it was big and heavy; it was also packaged in a cardboard box.
Its not to healthy either having 94g of fat in it 11 by 1 inch size, and over 1500 calories, which is artery blocking stuff...

Ironic - called Yorkie, yet chocolate kills dogs.
Review of Yorkie Raisin and Biscuit by
spacemonkey
Advantages: Chunky, make you feel like you're actually eating something, no pretentions to being 'good for you'
Disadvantages: Ever so slightly sexist, not the best quality chocolate in the world
...was here and typing. Settle back, and enjoy...
IT'S NOT FOR GIRLS. Not this op, of course (I'm an equal opportunities writer), but the tagline of the majestic Yorkie bar. To be fair, a complete stroke of marketing genius, I rememeber enjoying it when they started using it a couple of years ago, what with the men's magazine giveaways it entailed. Also, the fact is, that I don't think I have ever seen a girl actually eating one either. I've heard stories, obviously, but until I see photographic evidence, there's always going to be scepticism.
Anyway, I digress. Yorkie Raisin and Biscuit is a great chocolate bar. Each bar consists of 5 chunky, man-size (God advertising is pervasive) pieces, which, unlike the likes of Galaxy or Cadbury's bars, are too big to be eaten more than one at a time, and generally need to be bitten in half to avoid...

eating a melted yorkie from a nappie
Review of Nestle Yorkie by
super_stevo
Advantages: a great tasting chocolate bar
Disadvantages: not good if your a chocoholic
...is absolute bliss.
There is also different varieties of Yorkie with honeycomb, milk choclate with nuts and lso biscuit and rasin flavoured so there is something for everyone.
The bar contains milk chocolate, sugar glucose syrup, raising agent and honeycomb pieces. Nutritionally (scary) 332 calories, 3.7g protein, 41.5g Carbohydrates and wait for it 16.8g of fat. This is for the people who are looking out for calories. The only arguement I have against this is the calories. It is chocolate at the end of the day but hey don't beat yourself up this makes a great treat once in a while.
Also with the summer coming up it can be rather annoying when you don't get a chance to eat it straight away and when you finally get the chance it has melted and then it has gone to waste.
You can expect to pay about 45 p for a small bar and 75 p for a king size...

Nestle Yorkie Honeycomb - This ones mine
Review of Nestle Yorkie by
lorrmid
Advantages: Gorgeous chunky chocolate with a delicious creamy taste and loads of crunch
Disadvantages: A bit pricey and addictive.
...my neighbour gave my son THE Yorkie Honeycomb. I knew at the time that he didn't like it and started coming out in a sweat. This one's for ME, I thought.
After going through the emotions of excitement and guilt I thought, go for it GAL just this once.
The wrapper to this chocolate bar is a very expensive looking gold colour with Yorkie in large bold chunky lettering in yellow on the front. Obviously the lettering is chunky to match the chocolate inside. The yellow lettering is outlined in black with a red border around the individual letters. The "O" is made out like a road warning sign with a woman in the middle and a red slash through her. I was wondering what it meant when I read underneath "IT'S NOT FOR THE GIRLS! in white letters - with the not underlined. I was a bit peeved at this but thought, tough I've got it and I...

Yorkies for a Yorkie lass that likes Yorkie pud!!
Review of Yorkshire Terrier by
rachel1431
Advantages: Loving and giving and very very loyal
Disadvantages: Yap Yap Yap and sometimes have a mind of their own
...Since owning my gorgeous Golden Retriever (who unfortunately died) I have since invested my time and love into 2 wonderful "yorkies". A lot of people call these many names including "dishcloth" and "yap bag". They say to me that's not a dog only big dogs are proper dogs - read my review you may change your mind. Prior to owning Teddy and Scrappy (my 2 Yorkies) I owned an Alsatian and a Golden Retriever - talk about going from the sublime to the ridiculous.
History
The Yorkshire Terrier is a British man-made dog and was introduced fairly recently. In the 1850's some Scottish weavers brought a small terrier dog with them from Scotland to Yorkshire. These 'Scotch Terriers,' sometimes known as 'Halifax Terriers' interbred with local small terriers. It is believed that Yorkies have some of the Manchester Terrier, the Maltese...

Er, isn't this a type of dog?
Review of Nestle Yorkie by
jammy_banana
Advantages: Huge chocolate bar
Disadvantages: perhaps too big for one person
...In my house whenever anyone says the word “Yorkie” we are usually referring to the small brown and black dog that looks like a footstool on legs with a ribbon bow at one end. Of course we are aware of the existence of a chocolate bar also called a “Yorkie” but until last Thursday no such chocolate bar had ever been found in our house. Our chocolate bars of choice were always, Cadbury’s Dairy Milk, Galaxy or Nestlé’s Double Cream. In fact as a child I did not even realise that the Yorkie was just solid chocolate. When I did realise I felt mildly disappointed and had no desire to ever try one.
But a few weeks ago all that changed. Having had such success trying all sorts of chocolate bars that I had never had before I decided I should try the Yorkie as well. As far as I am aware the Yorkie come in two varieties: the original plain...

Balls? Shrivelled grapes more like it...
Review of Yorkie Raisin and Biscuit by
jammy_banana
Advantages: nice combination
Disadvantages: melts easily, sexist
...I do believe something scandalous happened in the mid 1970's. Oh yes Cadbury slimmed down their Dairy Milk bar. Nestle saw the opportunity and released a chunky new bar to compete with the Dairy Milk in 1976. The bar narrowly avoided being called "O'Hara", "Trek" and "Rations". Instead it was named "Yorkie". It was a big success.
The Yorkie is available in the original Milk Chocolate or as Yorkie Raisin and Biscuit. Having already tried the Yorkie and quite liking it, I looked forward to trying the Raisin and Biscuit variety. And at last Woolworth's obliged by doing another one of their 4 for £1 deals. This allows me to get my hands on lots of chocolate for not too much money. However if you are not lucky enough to take advantage of such a deal the Yorkie Raisin and Biscuit will probably set up back somewhere between 40p...

NOT Available in PINK
Review of Nestle Yorkie by
jamesd
Advantages: Taste good and good value for money
Disadvantages: Very sweet and sickly.
...On the way to work from the train station I stopped in the little post office to get my first chocolate fix of the day, after spending a few minutes carefully considering what to buy I finally reached a decision and decided to break the diet yet again with an original Yorkie.
Wrapped in a shinny bright blue wrapper with the word Yorkie splashed over the front of the wrapper in big yellow letters, this bar weights in at 70g, one of the heavy weights of chocolate bars. The O of the word Yorkie has been replaced by a sign that depicts a black silhouette of a woman with a red line through it indicating that Yorkie’s are a no go Zone for women. This is a follow on from the TV advertisement that says Yorkie’s are not for Girls. Whilst this may seen on the face of it to be quite a sexist approach, I think that is very clever and actually...
