Surf and Turf in the Yorkshire Dales
Advantages: Good accomodation, really good food.
Disadvantages: A couple - see the review
...Firstly I have to say when writing this I was wondering whether I was rating a pub, a restaurant, a hotel or the package as a whole. The place itself describes itself as a boutique hotel but is perhaps better known for its food and is clearly in the shell of a pub. I decided on my experience as a whole.
The Heifer is located in Wensleydale, the valley of the River Ure, itself in the Yorkshire Dales national park. It can be found in the village of West Witton located between the market towns of Leyburn and Hawes with Aysgarth and its falls (the filming location for the tussle between Robin and Little John in the film Robin Hood Prince of Thieves) just down the road. The area is a good base for all the sights and walking this area offers.
The inn has 9 rooms. Each is individually themed and a little unique in what it does and doesn...

Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales
Advantages: Rich in history, Beautiful countryside, Georgian architecture
Disadvantages: Difficult and expensive to park
..."Richmond is a town unlike others, a place unique, rich in relics of the past. It is too good to be passed by." Alfred Wainwright.
Richmond is a small market town in North Yorkshire, on the edge of the Dales, and if you believe what you read in Lonely Planet guides, then it is one of the great undiscovered towns of England as far as visitors are concerned. This might be a little odd when you consider the popularity of the Dales and that the proximity of the town to the A1 (just 4 miles away) makes it easily accessible as a day trip location from a large part of the North East and Yorkshire. Indeed, I travelled down from Newcastle for the day (lured by the promise of a living history event) and it took me little more than an hour to find the town, although it unfortunately felt like it took me the same amount of time to find...

Holiday with peace - visit Settle(Yorkshire Dales)
Advantages: Relax and get good country walking and to explore tradinational market.
Disadvantages: Not for City lovers
...WHY THE NAME
Settle- name ,thought to be Anglian 7th. century meaning a settlement .
WHAT IS THERE
Settle is a place which offers great countryside walking. Its has Englands most appelling landscapes. So its the place for us to relax. From a gentle riverside stroll to the more challenging fell walks of the 3 Peaks, the Pennine Way , Dales Way and the Ribble Way. It has typical seventeenth century market placefor shopping in one of our traditional market towns. The town stands beside the largest outcrop of limestone in Britain - in a region of scars, cliffs, caves and potholes.
It was seventh month for me with my baby.Working all days through the month, i felt so frustrurated. I really really needed a break with peace. And i thought having a romantic pleasent break during this is good...

Luxury from the Dales Ice-cream Mines
Advantages: Absolute Luxury in your mouth
Disadvantages: can be a bit pricey
...Bear with my on this but imagine the scene, it makes no difference in seasons, Summer or Winter up in the Yorkshire Dales, the ice cream mines by virtue of their great depth, are always kept at a constant sub freezing temperature.
Dalesman are on the surface supervising the whippets on the treadmills, who in turn operate the mechanical buckets that bring the raw Ice cream up from the mines below.
This particular mine just outside Cononley has a deep vein of Rapsberry Pavlova running almost to Skipton, droves of miget Yorkshiremen on forced community service from the Courts mine and follow the icecream veins, put them into the buckets to be brought up to the surface, for processing.
This Processing takes place in great secrecy, where the final preparation takes place on the finishing line, where droves of Northern mother...

Ahhh! Yorkshire
Advantages: Can use just one. Authentic taste
Disadvantages: Not really big enough for my liking and not the same as home-made!
...Having a fussy eater as a son means that I've become a little more "experimental" in the food that's available in the house. In desperation I've tried products that I wouldn't have dreamed of buying before having children. Sometimes this is just to offer variety, other times it's for convenience.
Yorkshire puds have to be one of the easiest things to make. There's nothing fancy in the batter and, when you're cooking a roast it's no hassle to slip a tray in the top oven. However, upon discovering that my son actually liked these and having had little success in freezing home-made pies I decided to try some of the ready-made versions so that, when offering my son a roast mid-week (made from a roast that my husband and I have most likely shared the night before) I can also offer a pud alongside.

Skipton gateway to the Yorkshire Dales
Advantages: Warm and welcoming, nice folk, good holiday centre, Gateway to the Dales
Disadvantages: you have to go home sometime
...Skipton gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, lies for the most part in Airedale, although some of the outer area nestles in Wharfedale ( just), it is served by a regular rail service from Leeds and Bradford ( Forster Square) with trains running every 30 mins throughout the day and a direct service to Carlisle, Glasgow and London Kings Cross(GNER). bus services run by Pennine link Skipton to other parts of Craven including a regular bus service to Burnley via Colne.
Skipton has a Castle, a High street with a Variety of shops and a Market on the High Street on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays/ in addition to this we also have a medieval Market at Christmas and on the First Sunday in July the High street is closed for the annual Sheep Day ( see The Town Councils Website www.sheepday.co.uk for pictures and details)..... A nice Yorkshire beach
Advantages: Good quality bathing
Disadvantages: No facilities on beach
...Filey Beach stretches for 10 kilometres and sits within a natural bay on the rugged east cost of Yorkshire. To the north of the beach lie steep sandstone cliffs whilst to the south there are sheer limestone cliffs. These white limestone cliffs extend south to Flamborough Head and onto Bempton Cliffs, the highest sea cliffs in England. During the summer months these cliffs are home to many thousands of breeding seabirds; predominantly guillemots, razorbills, puffins, kittiwakes and fulmars.
Filey is an ancient fishing village that grew up around the bay. It has a rich history with the sea and everywhere you look there are references to it. At the side of the jetty there is a RNLI lifeboat station that has saved dozens of lives over the years. Whilst at the side of this there are a few café's and gift shops but it is a lot smaller...

Yorkshire Tea - Pricey but Nicey
Advantages: Yorkshire Gold is the Best
Disadvantages: overpriced
...Yorkshire tea for Yorkshire water, that is what they used to say on the advert, for Yorkshire folk, as well I think. The advert was a load of twaddle, but I must say I do like the tea, coming from Yorkshire I suppose I ought to if the advert is to be believed.
There are three varieties of Yorkshire tea, they are the ordinary Yorkshire tea, Yorkshire tea for hard water areas (anywhere south of Yorkshire maybe) and Yorkshire Gold the premium tea just that bit more special, and a bit more expensive.
The first is regular Yorkshire tea, personally I do not like it, it has no real flavour no body no after taste, fullness, you name it, its really not worth the money, and even the ordinary tea is a bit more expensive than other everyday tea bag teas like Tetley, PG tips, Ty-phoo and the like. It is disappointingly flat and un refreshing...

Culture in Yorkshire
Advantages: Good exhibits, easy to get to
Disadvantages: None
...When we went to visit friends in Yorkshire in the summer we stopped of at the Yorkshire sculpture park. We have meant to visit before, but somehow never have.
This park was founded 1977 at, West Bretton, Wakefield. Originally a large house on a parkland of some 500 acres This Park is very easy to get to as it is only one mile from junction 38 of the M1. There was quite a lot of parking which costs £2.00 entrance to the park itself is free.
We got there after taking 5 hours to get there from near Lupton it usually takes about 3, So were tired and in need of a cup of tea so we went into the café / restaurant.
The tea was good about the same price you pay anywhere and there was a terrific view over the parkland with the hills as a backdrop .The restaurant was on the first floor and there was an outside balcony you could sit on if...
