Unimaginative Me and You

Advantages: Celia Imrie's always good value
Disadvantages: Incredibly bland

Knowing Me, Knowing You - Aha!

Advantages: Hilarious after several views. Reasonably good value for money.
Disadvantages: Bit too short.

The basic premise is Alan Partridge (played by Steve Coogan), interviews a number of equally fictional guests, but in a cringeworthily poor and clumsy way. Following on from the equally successful series The Day Today, this series delves further into the character of Partridge. You Can Count On Me

Advantages: Reality of it all, performances, complex.
Disadvantages: Won't work for those who want easy answers.

...Rarely does one find a film of such honesty. Most films are dramatised to such an extent that it is easy to separate them from reality. This is by no more a fault than a comment on the creative process. It is generally necessary to make things a little more dramatic as, quite frankly, average people doing average things is pretty dull. That You Can Count On Me shows this, and still manages to remain compelling throughout is an incredible feat. We are offered a window into the life of Sammy (Laura Linney), an average woman in small-town America. This isn't the kind of place where people fulfil their dreams, but she is comfortable here. Advantages: funny, heart warming, not as predictable as most films like that
Disadvantages: moments where attention drifted, slow beginning.

...My favourite films are comedies and romcoms so I was rather looking forward to sitting down to watch You, Me and Dupree. The trailers made the film look hilarious and I was slightly gutted that I never managed to get down to the cinema when it was out, so it was a must for a rental. Any film Ive watched with Owen Wilson has been a laugh from start to finish so I didn't expect this one to be any different. The Film! The film starts out with Carl and Molly, they get hitched with Dupree being the best man (with a very cool best man badge!). After the happy couple come home from honeymoon, everything seems to be going well. They have loads of wedding gifts, a perfect house and Carl receives a promotion at work. ...When I was much younger I was a fan of the so called "Brat Pack", which at the time included Matt Dillon. Admittedly, he is not the world's greatest actor but I have always been drawn to films he has starred in and he is very easy on the eye. In fact, he has matured like a fine wine, and for me tops the likes of Tom Cruise in the looks department. Anyway, letching over, that sort of explains what drew me to "You, Me & Dupree", because I am not particularly a fan of the other stars Owen Wilson and Kate Hudson. I find Hudson bland, and a more watered down version of her mother, whilst I just cannot understand the huge attraction with Owen Wilson.
