Air Miles - cheap flights
Review of Air Miles by
sjstokes
Advantages: Redeemable for cheap flights, Easy to collect.
Disadvantages: You'll need somewhere to store 110 packets of biscuits!
...at Sainsbury's. It is occasionally possible to earn enough miles for a short flight (e.g. Paris) from groceries costing LESS than the equivalent ticket price. A recent posting on the Air Miles message board tells how one person bought 110 packets(!!) of Go Ahead biscuits for about £33 and earned enough Air Miles for a return flight to Jersey. The Sainsbury's website (www.sainsbury.co.uk) gives details on the latest extra reward points offers.
(2) Petrol is also a good way to earn miles if like me you do a high mileage. The ideal combination seems to be to use a Nat West or a Sainsbury's credit card at a Sainsbury's petrol station. You can also use the credit card in conjunction with a Shell Smart card at a Shell garage though the rate of return is not as good (and appears to be gradually diminishing).
Also, you're not only restricted...

What happens on the Mile, stays on the Mile
Review of The Green Mile (Special Edition) by
yummy.mummy
Advantages: Fantastic film with great special features
Disadvantages: No other film stands a chance against it!
...it from him mouth in what looks like clouds of bugs.
This shocking event leaves Edgecomb so overwhelmed that he feels the need to find out more about Coffey and the crimes he was accused of. Once reading more and getting to know him personally as a man under his care, he becomes more and more convinced that John Coffey is an innocent man. He doesn't understand how a man with such exceptional healing powers and such gentleness could ever harm anyone.
All those who are in John Coffeys' presence are struck down with awe at the humility and feeling of awe surrounding the man. He reaches deep onto the hearts of people and strikes a chord that screams out for you to look deep into yourself and your actions.
His presence in Green Mile changes the lives of the men around him forever, and the knowledge that they have to send him to his...

Rush home to carry on up the Curry Mile
Review of Rusholme - The Curry Mile by
duskmaiden
Advantages: selection, dascinating sight
Disadvantages: bust at weekends, not f everyones taste
...like to give the new Tabak another chance trying the house specialties. Another restaurant on my list is the Punjab Tandoori House. This serves south Indian specialties such as stuffed pancakes that sound very interesting. Finally there are a number of more Middle Eastern style restaurants if you fancy the Curry mile without the curry.
Vindaloo
Price wise most curry houses are very similar. You tend to pay about £4 or £5 for a vegetable curry and up to £7 –8 for king prawns. If you want a cheaper option some such as the Darbar do a 5 courses for £6 deal whilst some have weekend buffets. I have not noticed many business men’s lunch style menus but the Curry Mile is a little out of the way for business men. Another way to save money is to go to an establishment that has a Bring Your own Bottle and no corkage charge as there is a couple...

What happens on the mile stays on the mile.
Review of The Green Mile (Wide Screen) by
andycharger
Advantages: A good movie
Disadvantages: Not as good as Shawshank.
....
A giant of a man, who hardly speaks and is very frightened.
I wont say anymore because I dont want to spoil the plot.
There are evil men in this film.
The sadistic Prison Guard Percy.
The completely mad Wild Bill who seems to only be there for comedic value.
In fact these men all have a role to fill in the film.
The actors are top notch.
Tom Hanks delivers his usual fine performance and supported by several smaller stars.
Gary Sinise plays a very small part in the film after playing much larger roles opposite Hanks in Apollo 13 and Forest Gump.
The scenery is very bland as it is mostly set within the mile itself. Very dark conditions must have been harrowing for prisoners and guards alike.
I found this a very moving film that will no doubt have most of your crying. It brought tears to my eyes I must admit.
The old...

What A Mile !!
Review of The Green Mile - Stephen King by
Aussieme1106
Advantages: One Hell of a good read.
Disadvantages: Came in parts before released as a single book.
...I first read The Green Mile a few years ago, when the partwork came out, and was eager to go to the shop for the next part. It starts off with an elderly gentleman who seems to be writing his memoirs, and turns into the most gripping will they/wont they story I have read for a long time.
The gentleman, Paul Edgecombe, is the boss of E-Block, in Cold Mountain Prison. E-Block is death row for them. It centres around a particular man, John Coffey, and his amazing story of life. He is found with two little blonde girls dead in his arms, and charged with their murder. He goes to Cold Mountain Prison, and to death row, called the Green Mile, on account of how the linoleum is the colour of faded limes.
There are a few characters in this story. Paul Edgecombe, known as Boss Edgecombe. He is married to Jan. Brutus Howell, known as Brutal...

Walk the mile, you would be daft not too.
Review of The Green Mile - Stephen King by
Shortsharpshock
Advantages: Emotional, tragic, epic.
Disadvantages: Some may not like plodding style.
...John Coffey arrives at Cold Mountain Penitentiary ready to walk "The Green Mile" for the murder of the twin girls under his protection. Prison Guard Paul Edgecombe has a duty to ensure even the most psychopathic of murderers such as Billy "The Kid" Wharton journey along the mile towards the electric chair is a peaceful one. Why then does Paul start to doubt Coffey's guilt and what does Coffey mean when he says, "I tried to take it back but it was too late"?
Stephen King's "The Green Mile" is that rarest of beasts, a novel that has a wide appeal crossing numerous genres along the way. Perhaps it is because it was originally written as a six-book serial that King is able to defy genre and write so expressively but either way the results are impressive. This is a novel that refuses to be pigeonholed.
Part supernatural-thriller, part...

DREAM FOR MILES
Review of Dreamland - Robert Miles by
LostWitness
Advantages: Dreamy, chilled out music
Disadvantages: Repetitive and formulaic
...dedicated to all these young people whose lives were being tragically wasted. Robert Miles believed that a period of more chilled out, mellow dance music would calm the kids in the clubs and would leave them in a much fitter state to go home after their night out. This is chilled club music at its most poignant – music dedicated to saving the lives of the clubbers who would enjoy it so much. In Miles’ own words:
“This album is dedicated to all those people who seek emotion, reflection and peace in music….It doesn’t take much…You only need to close your eyes…..And let the music take you away.”
Of all the club music albums that I possess, few are as mood-driven as this one. I seldom listen to this album, simply because it is strangely emotional. This is not an uplifting album in the conventional...

the green mile away from the rest
Review of The Green Mile (Wide Screen) by
martinwright
Advantages: good film
Disadvantages: not so good ending
...absolutely convincing by its thoroughly developed characters.
As a general rule, movies about people are more successful than movies about plot. Too many movies force cardboard characters through flaming plot hoops, and they just don't work. The Green Mile should be upheld as an example of how a good story should be told. Equally important is that the acting is top notch across the board. Tom Hanks cannot seem to go wrong these days, and he certainly doesn't here; he's done similar roles before, but it would be a mistake to discount his performance just because it looks easy. Making it look easy is one of the things that makes Hanks such a terrific actor: when you're watching him, you're watching his character, not showy acting that calls attention to itself. Michael Clarke Duncan, as John Coffey, turns in a brilliant performance worthy...

Eminem DVD - 8 Mile
Review of 8 Mile DVD by

Disadvantages: None
...8-Mile - Every moment is another chance

8-Mile is rated a 15 so it is only suitable for people aged over 15 due to some sexual scenes in the film.
The Cast
The main characters within the cast of this film are the famous white rapper Eminem, Kim Bassinger, Brittany Murphy, Mekhi Phifer.
All the cast within this film are brilliant actors making the film realistic and helping you really get into the film.
Each character is well suited to the part they play making the people within the film realistic helping drag you in all most like you are part of the film.
Story Line

Miles More Points
Review of Morrisons Miles Card by
katgoddess23
Advantages: Money off your shopping
Disadvantages: Only for petrol
...Miles More Points
The Morrisons Miles loyalty scheme is available in Wm Morrison Supermarket petrol stations. (And should soon be available in the Safeway stores, now that Morrisons have brought the company)
The Miles card is black and yellow, and in a plastic credit card style. It has a magnetic stripe on the back, and a card number on the front, along with a cryptic picture of a petrol pump, a pound sign, and a shopping trolley. You don't need to register for the card. Just pick one up, and sign the back.
The basic premise of the card, is every time you fill up with fuel, you hand the card into the cashier, and they put points onto the card. For every *litre* you fill up with, you get 15 points. When you reach 4995 points you get given a Five Pound Voucher which you can spend in the store. You cannot use the voucher...
