...Youth Group are an indie band from Sydney, Australia who formed in 1998. They had gained a good reputation from there tours, tempating Ivy League Records to sign them. There first full album release 'Urban and Eastern' soon followed. In 2005 they released there second album under Epitaph Records, making a play to getting there music heard on a world wide basis. (Ivy League still had the Aussie release, while Epitaph distributed the record through the US and Europe). The result was an album full of beautiful laid back, hauntingly mellow sublime tunes. ...I would like to introduce you to a group of extremely talented group for kids.. They perform at least 3 shows a year in Kilmarnock's Palace Theatre. Most of there show are fun filled musicals which are written by their director Chris Annetts. The group took The Edinburgh Festival by storm 2 years ago and their shows were getting full houses by the end of the week. They are taking Edinburgh by storm again this year, with 2 shows, "Numbers up" and "Future Ghost". The average age of a cast member is only 14 but the talent is enormous!. There next show at The Palace Theatre is a double bill "Test you wings" (an award winning show) followed by a "Numbers up" preview on Friday 30th March and Saturday 31st March, tickets are excellent value at a cost of £4.00 for adults and £3.00 for children/concessions or family ticket £12.00. ...I'm a massive music fan, so when I saw that my mate owned the whole Sonic Youth back catalogue I decided to investigate and educate myself in Sonic Youth ways. The first Sonic Youth album I listened to was 'Goo', but I think 'Daydream Nation' is far more accessible for first time listeners for Sonic Youth. 'Daydream Nation' was originally released in 1988, but considering this was nearly twenty years ago now it doesn't sound dated at all. A new deluxe edition of 'Daydream Nation' is out this year (2007), but the original version is still knocking about and this is the one I'm reviewing. According to Amazon this original version of the album is a penny shy of £5, whereas the new deluxe version is nearer to £15, so I think its worth investing in the cheaper one while its still avaliable - especially if you're not a die-hard fan... ...Rather Ripped is the, dare I say it, poppier follow-up to Sonic Youth's critically acclaimed duo comprising Murray Street and Sonic Nurse. And it doesn't disappoint; Thurston Moore and Lee Ranaldo serve up yet more intricate guitar interplay, while Kim Gordon provides agressive vocals and menacing bass alongside Steve Shelley's unfaltering drums. While it's not quite on a par with their best work, it serves as a reminder that Sonic Youth is as relevant today as it was in the early eighties. 1. ...Well i currently manage 5 msn groups and am a member in about 20. I first found msn groups about 4 years ago, it was pure luck i was searching one day and came accross a group called uk mums being a mum it really suited me, it had lotsof friendly mums like me and everyone was so supportive, it took me a bit to get the hang of things like posting messages but not that long at all. After a few months i decided i would open up my own group, so i did and called it hev's playroom, i had a few members and we had a laugh. Then i joined a penpal group, this was my fave one, i met lots of friends from around the world a couple of which i have met in person and am very close freinds with, we used to participate in swaps, where we would sign up for easter for example and would each spend £5 and send each other suprise easter gifts.
