This is a review of the first book of this trilogy. Sunglasses after Dark opens with Sonja Blue’s (the principal character) incarceration in the high security ward of the Elysian Fields mental asylum. Unconsciously she slips into the nightmares of both the inmates and warders, perhaps to unrealisingly feed off the tortured emotions being paraded in these nightmares. This is not a vampire novel of the normal mould. The main character displays features of the normal vampire we know via the mainstream mediums of literature and film i.e. fangs and amazing strength, but in addition she can reach into the minds of others to read their thoughts... ...For me the sunglasses trend really began last year, and since then they have grown and grown as a must have fashion accessory. Drunk last summer, I remember (in a daze) wondering around Cambs as the England game was displayed on a large screen for the whole of the green to enjoy and trying on a strangers big sunglasses, because obviously if you're going to buy sunglasses in 2006/07 they HAVE to be big. That settled it, whether the ones I tried on were for girls or not, I looked good and what someone else can do I have to do bigger and better - it's just my nature. I don't think it is fair to say I look up to celebrities and that they are my idols, but there are some things that celebrities do fashion wise that does impact me. I have always struggled buying sunglasses and have never found a decent pair that suit me. ...Every time my mascara runs out i bt acompletely different brand, and YSL Mascara Faux Cils is my latest, the only mascara ive ever bought more than once is bourjois coup de theatre, because in my opinion its the best mascara on the market - and ive tried plenty! I usually keep 2 mascaras in my nameup bag, one for day, and one for night, the bourjois one is my day mascara and the YSL Mascara Faux Cils is my night time mascara. I paid £17 for it from Beatties department store in huddersfield and i believe that it is the same price in all department stores, i have since found it cheaper on cosmetics websites though. (strawberynet.com and buycosmeticsdirect.com) The mascara smells nice, it has a sort of fruity and floral scent to it, not like any other mascara ive had, and ive previously used clinique, almay, revlon, boots no7 and 17... People who have dry skin and find that the perfume doesn't have particularly good staying power on them would benefit from using the complimentary shower gel and body lotion before applying the perfume as this would gave the scent a base to layer itself upon therefore increasing the longevity of the perfume fragrance. All peoples skin types are different and perfumes, body lotions, shower gels etc act differently on each individual because of the different oils in our skin. ...Like the reviewer before me I've also tried them all. I've got a 'thing' about mascara, so I've tried most of the cheapies and the high-end mascaras. I actually first spotted this mascara adorning the lashes of a friend [who works for a high-end cosmetics co, not YSL] Adorning is the word, because her lashes looked gorgeous... In fact I was immediately reminded of Vivien Leigh as Scarlet! So, I splashed out , only to discover the superlative of all mascaras. This gives fluttery, soft looking velvety lashes, and never seems to look harsh however how much is piled on. That rather awful dry and spidery look seems to be avoided altogether. I've tried it in black, brown, aubergine and navy. Black I liked the least, as I always find it looks a little harsh [especially, in my humble opinion, over 40]. The best... Read review

...f I could only have one item in my handbag I would have to go for YSL Touch Éclat. I’ve been using it now for about three years and it’s the only thing I just can’t fault. I remember watching a programme with Geri Halliwell and she pulled it out of her handbag and slapped a load on and I though it looked so expensive. In my opinion is its good enough for every celebrity out there and every makeup artist rates it, then its good enough for me. I couldn’t believe it when for my birthday my mum had brought me one. ...After reading the only review of sunglasses-shop.co.uk on here I was rather sceptical about ordering from them, however, they were the only shop that had the glasses I wanted at a reasonable price and in stock so I thought I'd give them a try. After you have entered your details and clicked on confirm order, you are sent to an external website which takes your credit card details for the order, which is a little off-putting at first, but it is secure and just the company who the website use for their transactions. Immediately after submitting the order I was sent a confirmation email, followed by an email the following day to say that my order had been dispatched with a reference number to track my order. The glasses arrived the day after I received the email about them being dispatched, taking a grand total of 3 days to arrive... Read review
