...I’m a car nut, plain and simple - much like the Mustek mdc5500z. The 5500 (I wont give it its full title or we'll be here for weeks) is a digital camera, a nice and simple plain talking, straight up digi-cam. And as long as you remember that you'll be fine, however, if you want something more, or consider yourself to be a bit of a dab hand at photography then your going to want to take a few more notes from the ATM and pop down to your local camera specialist who will no doubt charge through the roof and be full of employees who only speak in numbers and specifications, and who all have monotone voices. You will need to do this because the 5500z is NOT a complex camera. Advantages: Stylish, Quick + Capable, Large Memory, Large hard drive + excellent screen quality
Disadvantages: Overheats very quickly, sound levels are very quiet..

...I bought this laptop for £821 from dabs.com as a replacement for my IBM T41. I had spent a long time spent looking at my options after deciding wanted a laptop with a Core 2 Duo T5500(or better), 2GB+ RAM and a screen of around 14". There were a number of laptops available with one or the other but very few that met all of the criteria I had set. The two standout laptops that met my requirements were the Dell XPS 13" and this Sony Vaio C2Z/B. After much deliberating I decided to go for the Sony. This turned out to be a brilliant decision as this has turned out to be a great replacement for my IBM. On first impressions the laptop looks very professional and could easily pass as a business laptop if you didn't want to spend the £1000+ that sony's business laptops cost. Advantages: Excellent Sound Quality, Good Bass, Very Load
Disadvantages: Sub/amp does not have magnetic protection

...card, DVD audio sounds amazing. The Sub produces nice clean bass with little to no distortion. The level of bass can easily be altered via the main display unit or the remote. If I have no sound playing, and turn the speakers up to full volume, I cant hear any crackling/interference (some of this is down to the sound card obviously). Games are great on the z5500 system, if you have everything configured for 5.1 surround sound, and the speakers are positioned correctly, when playing Battlefield 2 or Splinter Cell you can clearly hear the direction from which people are trying to creep up on you! If you want to be heard by the neighbours, then this is the kit to go for. I rarely turn the volume up past half way, with speakers on my desk it would probably make me go deaf! ...Background: I bought the S5500 by accident. I teach PhotoShop and one of my students has an S5500 so I knew it was a nice bit of kit, but I was not looking for a new camera (I already had a cam that was fine for the time being) so it was academic. My Girlfriend had said a few times that she wanted a digi-cam, but the S5500 was not an option here either. This is where luck and/or fate stepped in, I had to fly to Bangkok with a colleague on business, and he wanted to buy a camera there, as they were cheaper. I had rather stupidly left my camera at home, so decided to accompany him and get a cheap disposable. While at the shop I noticed the S5500 on the shelf for far less than I had seen it for in the UK, I bought it as my new main camera and phoned my girlfriend to tell her my old camera was now hers, everybody was happy. Advantages: Cheap, Simple, Does it's job, Clear enough...
Disadvantages: ...Not HD quality, Kinda small, not incredibly vibrant colours

...So Still sat in the Uni Library (see the COMPAQ Evo review), and I though I'd review the monitor that's sat inches in front of my bored and sad little face. It's a startling silver colour (imagine a silver ps2/ps3 if you would) on the front, with a dull black casing away from the front panel. The product name is at the top of the monitor just above the screen) with COMPAQ in red to the "viewers" left and "5500" in black to the right. Theres three buttons in the centre (menu, - and +) with an on/off switch to the right...all pretty bog standard really. The size, 15" isn't really upto much, I'd feel much more "at home" (my house PC, not laptop is 19") with a larger screen but I guess it's acceptable if nothing else. The quality is possibly off todays standards of HD ready 1080i monitors, but it's again an acceptable standard. However... Read review

...Nokia 5500 Sport In a nut shell : Candybar type phone, lightweight, durable, packed to the brim with user freindly features, Good camera, good sounds. Features : Well to start with its got a groovy wee torch, that you can turn on from a single button press ( no fumbling around in menus etc ). Its got Bluetooh, infrared, and a microSD memory card slot, which can take up to 1gb, although I have heard rumours that a 2gb can be used ( not tried it yet though ). A 2mpg camera and a radio and a pedometer (step counter). It also has a speech thing that narrates your text messages to you whilst you are out and about. In music mode you can tap the phone and it changes tracks etc. It`s the same in sports mode, by tapping it does various other things. So, should you get a 5500? It depends on what you want.
