...Now everyone else has described the storyline already so I'm nore inclined to discuss the technical details of this particular DVD to make up for it. I've noticed on a couple of reviews that people have commented on the "predictability" of the film. Well you see that's fine by me, the film isn't supposed to be a thriller that makes you wonder what's going to happen until the dying minutes, it's simply a beautiful tale of one man's emotional awakening during his first visit home for nearly 10 years. I make no bones - it's not a thrilling plot line, there isn't any particular major event which happens in the film, it just meanders along at a lovely pace. This makes the film very enjoyable and so easy to watch again and again. Zach Braff has an obvious talent for quality directing, the angles and camera techniques he uses...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

...The Garden State soundtrack is without a doubt one of the best soundtracks I've ever had the joy of listening to. It's the kind of soundtrack that even if you have not seen the film you will, in some way be able to relate to the songs that are on it. But with having seen the film, the songs will remind you of that particular scene in the film and you will feel personally connected with it. Not every soundtrack achieves this and Zach Braff does a fantastic job at choosing the right songs for the right scenes. Each song fits perfectly with the tone, style, emotions, look & feel of the particular scene it is playing in. The opening song "Don't Panic" by Coldplay ticks every box for being a fantastic opening song to start the film. It works in setting that low tempo, light and gentle start that you get with the movie. It really fits...

Now call me tight (no that wasn?t an invite), but I like bargains and freebies and am not ashamed to say so. My quest took me to enough sites to hire DVDs for about four months so far (with plenty to come too). My latest free DVD site also happens to be the best I have tried for several reasons (see rest of op); the site in question is Blockbuster.co.uk. Other sites that I have had free rentals from and then cancelled have all been similar, two weeks free trial with two DVD?s per time ? which in effect gives you about four free DVD?s. ...Before I bought this DVD player Id never really owned a DVD player before. I had however had and still do have a ps2 on which I used to play my DVDs. I never really went and still don’t go on this so much so I was going to sell it and buy a DVD player. In the end I decided to just keep the ps2 and to get a cheaper DVD player than I was looking for in the first place. The main reason why I wanted a new DVD instead of the one in the ps2 was so I could play divx format DVDs on it. The DVD player in a ps2 doesn’t recognise this format and scene as I have several divx movies already on disk and on my laptop to put onto disk then I wanted a DVD player that would recognise and play this format. DVDs for a fixed monthly fee...

Advantages: Simple, easy to use, quick delivery, good customer service
Disadvantages: May not have all the titles you are after

...I was using one of those sites that offer you points or a few cents for trying out free offers (don't recall which one exactly, may have been 'IPoints'...) and it had Lovefilm's FREE two week trial. I signed up free for the minimal membership which allows you to keep one DVD at a time for as long as you want (with no late fees!) and although I had to give my credit card information, the agreement states that you will not be charged anything if you cancel within the two week period.. The membership ranges from £9 to £15 per month now; I do not recall how much it cost mid last year to be honest.. The other memberships get you 2 and 3 DVDs at a go. I added the films I was interested in to some sort of 'wishlist'. The idea is that they send you one DVD, you keep it for as long as you want, then they send you the next one on your list...

Predictable Supernatural (review of show & DVDs)

...was younger... I suppose there is an element of well what did I expect? but I still feel like they could have maybe made it a bit more unpredictable... Back to the DVD side of things and one real downside in my opinion, is the lack of bonus/special features. Basically in the boxset you get all 22 episodes that made up the first series/season and subtitles in English and Dutch but thats about all. There are no commentaries, deleted scenes or featurettes, none of that. I've heard you get alot more bonus features on the region 1, American version, so for some reason they've omitted that material from this version, which is a shame. The DVDs are seperated into two different sets, Volume 1 (containing 3 boxes with obviously 3 DVDs, equating to the first 11 episodes) and Volume 2 (again containing 3 boxes, equating to the last 11 episodes...
