Zafira 1.6 Dual Fuel helps the environment
Review of Vauxhall Zafira Design 1.6i 16v Dualfuel by
LJOne
Advantages: Economical and environmentally friendly
Disadvantages: Sometimes finding those autogas filling stations is a challenge
...THE VAUXHALL ZAFIRA
The Vauxhall Zafira was launched in 1999 with the 1.6 and 1.8 litre petrol or 2.0 Di diesel engines. Air conditioning was standard in all but the entry level model. However, in 2000 the entry or base level was discontinued and the Zafira was left with the Club, Comfort and Elegance models. In April 2002 the Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) / petrol dual fuel option was introduced with a 1.8 litre engine and by August 2002 a 1.6 litre LPG dual fuel option arrived in Comfort trim only. Later in the year there were 1.6 and 1.8-litre LPG Design dual fuel models available.
The Zafira was innovative when it was launched. Seven seats over three rows were squeezed into the people carrier, but due to the pioneering Flex7 system, you could fold up to five of them to suit any journey. Safe handling is also ideal for drivers...

the zafira club 1.6
Review of Vauxhall Zafira Club 1.6i by
cfcjay
Advantages: looks and fills like your driving a car
Disadvantages: seven seats
...but its not easy. The best bit with the seats is you slide the middle seats forward and the back seats fold down into the floor of the car,and with the middle seats pushed forward this creates quite a big space .In the espace you had to take the seats out and then put them back in, which was a real effort.
The petrol cost isn't to bad but short start stop journeys can cost but that the case with most cars i think, even with a full load on a long journey its quite reasonable it's unleaded petrol which is good . Mine is a 1.6 engine but you can get bigger if you want, but for the motor way its fine it do 70mph allday.Even 80 or 90 he he).And its fine for just around town.
The price was good it had 14,000 miles on the clock and was £9,000.Brand new your looking at £12,000 upwards.
Inside the zafira , there's air conditioning , (which uses...

VAUXHALL ZAFIRA ENERGY 1.6
Review of Vauxhall Zafira Energy 1.6 by
wilson252
Advantages: ALL ROUND PRACTICALITY, ESTATE,SALOON, VAN.
Disadvantages: ENGINE NOISE AT HIGHER SPEEDS.
...Ihave now owned my Zafira for 2 years and I can say it is probably the most practical vehicle I have ever owned. The advantage over the Galaxy, sharan, alhambra clones are the use of the extra two seats. I have owned the Alhambra and found that when you needed the extra two seats you had to either leave them in folded. This cut down your available load space, or put the very heavy seats in every time. With the zafira the rear two seats fold into the floor, so are available all the time. It is a one handed job to prepare the vehicle for " bus mode".
If you need to carry that awkward load on a Saturday for that inevitable DIY job the Zafira comes to the rescue. Just fold up the rear bench seat and slide the rear seat towards the front seats, and there you have it a van.
The only problem I have found with the 1.6 is I feel it is a little...

Zafira - Oh how I love you. Check out my hands.
Review of Vauxhall Zafira Club 1.6i by
dhillcrest
Advantages: 7 seats, decent drive. Ours is silver.
Disadvantages: Not a lot - a bit ugly.
...in the first section.
1.6i 16V
----------
What the f**K does that mean?
Looks
-------
That done, down to the nitty-gritty (which is apparently a very racist term, related to the slave trade but I can't remember from whence it came).
The Zafira was pretty much based on the old Astra with a slightly extended chassis. The Astra was not especially good-looking and hey - guess what? My wife dislikes it's looks totally. She likes minxy in a car and this ain't it. It isn't ugly - just bleugh. Very non-descript. The stubby bonnet sweeps up to a large windscreen and on to the long, essentially rectangular body. Very little in the way of curves here. The rear drops precipitously to the tail. Ours is silver. So it is also shiny.
Inside, the layout is much like the Astra. The dash (and I did have an Astra by the way, once, in a former marriage...

Second hand 1.6i
Review of Vauxhall Zafira Comfort 1.6i by
sskc
Advantages: Elevated view, seating flexibility, reasonable fuel consumption, fair insurance rating.
Disadvantages: Interior blandness.
...on some of the finer points.
With the older models there is no 3 point harness in the middle of the centre seats although this has now been adressed by Vauhhall.
The wipers have been designed for left hand drive so do not clear the whole side of drivers vision for right hand drive.
Air con is very good in front seats although there is only foot mounted blowers for centre seats and none for rear seats.
Luggage cover is easily removed but there is no dedicated space to stow when used with rear seats up so tends to be crammed in wherever possible.
Car is fairly quiet when driving even at motorway speeds allowing conversation without shouting.
Fuel economy drops drastically when going over 75mph but remember that this is a large vehicle. When driven sensibly 70-75 on long journeys we returned 35mpg, not bad for a 1.6.
Reversing takes some...

Zippy Zafira
Review of Vauxhall Zafira Design 1.6i 16v by
stitch99
Advantages: It's big
Disadvantages: Visibility
...I wonder how we managed without our Zafira. It is like having your own tardis with the amount of room there is. And get this one, I was told it is a sexy car too. Not sure I'd go that far but it certainly does look stylish and for something so big it is pretty sleek.
We usually have the extra seats down at the back because they do limit the amount of space in the boot. We only have them up when we have our grandchildren with us because they think it's cool to sit right back there. Luckily they are small because there isn't really a lot of legroom back there. The main reason we like all the space in the boot is because we go camping. There;s only two of us that go now but we still lke to take all mod cons with us including a very large tent. No bother getting it all in and that's without putting any more seats down. The flex...

Zafira Is It Empty Or Just The Needle.
Review of Vauxhall Zafira Club 1.6i by
casper2412
Advantages: Very ideal for any small family
Disadvantages: Not alot of boot space when all seats are in use
...I have been the owner of a Vauxhall Zafira for 2 and half years, it is pretty big inside with 7 seats ideal for a small family it is a struggle to get a baby seat inside i once had to fiddle about with the baby seat putting it in and taking it back out plus moving it because it was not sat correctly on the back seat i did this 3 or 4 times before it was right, the seating arangements are cramped when all 7 seats are in use, and you have only a little boot space when all 7 seats are in use, also
its a very nice car to drive but the petrol cost to fill the vauxhall
can be costly the seats are very comfotable and it is very reliable to use. Once the seats are not in use they all fold nicely
away leaving a big boot space really ideal for putting a pram in
with more room for shopping or possibly a to carry a wheelchair
the list...

Grand Scenic Dynamique 1.6
Review of Renault Scénic 1.6 by
billyomahony
Advantages: Stylish and Comfortable
Disadvantages: Disappointing usability
...This review refers to the 1.6 Grand (5 seats plus 2 'jump' seats in the boot) Scenic Dynamique (Luxury) 2004 model. I recently drove an '06 model and there appears to be no differences.
The Good
Very stylish and bright instrument display.
Excellent interior lighting - the footwell lights are really good and make a big difference on those dark winter nights.
Lots of storage under seats and under footwells. Storage box between the two front seats is very good (and yep it's got it's own light).
Good turning circle for a large car.
Some automation works very well for instance the radio and all lights turn off automatically when you leave the car. You can also make all open windows & sunroof close automatically when you lock the car from the outside.
Automated windscreen wipers these work well and respond well to splashes from...

The New Zafira - Its a bit boring
Review of Vauxhall Zafira Club 1.6i by
JeffFromPoole
Advantages: I only have to keep it for 9,000 miles. Drives OK
Disadvantages: boring, dull, ordinary and a bit outdated
...I am currently between company cars and have been using the services of Avis to fill the gap. They ask that you return a car before it gets to 13,000 miles so I am currently changing cars about every two months.
The latest loaner is the much vaunted Vauxhall Zafira club, which I picked up early in the week and have now had for about 1,000 miles.
Looks and Styling 2/5
=
It's a Vauxhall, never renowned for their styling or attractiveness, it has all the character and style of a loaf of stale bread, and it is about the same shape, no matter, I don't need it for its pulling power.
Build Quality 3/5
Unusually for a Vauxhall it seems to be quite well put together, although the noise that the boot lid makes when closing lets it down badly. It isn't very well lined up and the noise...

GOOD VALUE MPV WITH LOW RUNNING COSTS
Review of Vauxhall Zafira Club 1.6i by
charmanarcher
Advantages: Plenty of car for the money, cheap to run and maintain.
Disadvantages: No air con on the base model
...to seven seats or even six with the same ease.
I have heard people say that the 1.6 engine can strain a little under a full load. Personally I have used my Zafira with all seven seats occupied and a fully loaded roof box attached and never experienced a problem.
In general the Zafira is a quiet car to drive, although it can be a little noisy when accelerating it is certainty not excessive. Although it wouldn't suit the lead boot brigade, acceleration is quite good and will give you the necessary pulling power if required. Handling of the Zafira is again very good, very little rolling on corners and very good but not over responsive steering.
To summarise, if you need the extra seats and space of an MPV, but don't want the high running and purchase costs to go with it.........
Get yourself a Zafira!!...
