What can I say about a gas hob?
Review of Neff T2164NOEU Gas Hobs by
Muddy250
Advantages: Lights first time. Powerful wok burner, easy to clean
Disadvantages: wok burner doesn't fit my wok!
...device. This means that should the flame be blown out, gas wil continue to fill the room. I have tried to blow it out but could only manage to extinguish the smallest burner whilst it was set to its lowest setting so it doesn't appear to be a problem. The nicest thing is that it lights first time and stays lit.
The pan supports are also enamelled and are in two sections which means it's easier to clean (fits in the sink or dishwasher...if you're lucky enough to have one!)whereas the old was the full size of the hob top and rather large meaning it rarely got cleaned!
There are four burners, one small simmering burner, two medium burners and a huge triple wok burner which features an interesting whistle. I'm not convinced it's supposed to do this but it doesn't seem to cause a problem, when turned down to the low setting it emits...

My steaks are Juicy on my new Zanussi!
Review of Zanussi-Electrolux ZCG7551X by
wendybull
Advantages: Timer, Glass top
Disadvantages: /
...When we moved into our house we brought the cooker that was already there from the previous owners as we did not have one and thought it made sense to make do with the old one until we had the funds to totally re-do the kitchen and buy all new appliances. Finally six years later we are getting the kitchen finished and have brought a lovely new shiny cooker. I have been producing amazing meals on it for around seven months now (Ok maybe not amazing, it's not that clever!) but feel I have enough experience to let you know what I think.
We chose this particular model to begin with as it had a glass lid that closes over the hob. Originally I wanted a Halogen hob as I thought they looked really smooth and sleek, however after hearing some bad reports on the actual cooking abilities of them, we decided to go for a gas cooker through...

Sparkly hobs as quick as a Hob Brite .
Review of Hob Brite by
grafter123
Advantages: Lasts a lond time , great results , good value .
Disadvantages: Smells a little harsh when using
...BACKGROUND
*******************
In my never ending quest for a clean house , with as little effort as possible , I have been trying yet more cleaning products . I actually bought Hob Brite a few months ago and have been using it since , about once a week to polish up my hob unit .
I have a Baumatic inset oven with a ceramic gas hob . I have had this a few years now but it is still in reasonable condition as I try to look after it . I used to just give it a wipe with a mixture of warm water and washing up liquid , cleaning the metal burner rings with a scouring powder or pad . This scouring however was not doing the metal any good .
HOB BRITE
***************
Hob Brite is packaged in a bright orange plastic bottle with a flip top lid . There is an inset to press near the bottom of the bottle which you squeeze carefully...

ZANUSSI COOKER.
Review of Zanussi ZCM700X by
packerlist
Advantages: COOKS EXTREMELY GOOD.
Disadvantages: NO TIMER.
...I wanted to reduce the rate I eat fast food, so I decided to buy this. As a young bachelor, I decided to make out time for my self and start up cooking at least once in a while. Since I got this, I normally cook at least three times in a week, which is not that bad. Zanussi is a product that deals mostly with house hold appliances and their product delights me so much. Since I started cooking, I think I have created some problem for my self by cooking every time that I cant not visit the fast food. Well I have to admit the fact that eating out side is not that a good habit because one day, I will be married and face that responsibility as a father and my kids and my wife will like me to portray that good example.
The hob is a stainless steel with 5 gas burner areas and it also has a particular good center burner that I normally use...

Zanussi Oven ZCM700X
Review of Zanussi ZCM700X by
SHARTFIE
Advantages: Good looking, easy to use, durable
Disadvantages: No Clock
...I purchased the Zanussi 70cm Stainless Steel Range Cooker about 6 weeks ago and would like to detail my experiences so far.
First of all it is a nice looking cooker, the stainless steel looks superb and feels nice and cool as well. I liked the particulary large oven that it has which is iseal for cooking for families, it comes with 2 shelves which as adjustable so will fit in a very large bird. The energy rating is “A”
The Hob is stainless steel and has 5 Gas burner areas’s with a particulary good centre burner which I use for cooking with my Wok, oriental dishes come out well because of the heat generated – a problem with electric cookers that I have had previously. The gas burners are cast iron and appear to be very durable so far, they are also really stable – no wobbles so far. The knobs are quite nice as well.
The oven...

The best little hob I have seen
Review of Malata Induction Hob by
laramax
Advantages: Fast, efficient and clean - a great way to cook
Disadvantages: You must use the right pans on it
...for a gas hob so they do help reduce wasted energy.
One of the big benefits of induction cooking is that the heat is very responsive, if you turn it off the heat stops being produced immediately like it would on a gas oven and totally unlike any electric cookers I have ever used.
Having read about the background it definitely made me keen to give it a try so I duly placed my order and within a couple of weeks it arrived. The unit itself is quite smart and very compact measuring just 2½" x 11½" x 13¼". It is also quite light and has a maximum power of just 1800W.
It has a number of different settings you can select or you can choose the temperature for yourself and then adjust it up and down. The settings are :
Chaffing dish - designed to cook a hot pot and you can adjust the heat up and down.
Sauté - again you can adjust...

British Gas make a complete hash.
Review of British Gas by
eldergill
Advantages: None that I can think of...oh..they have the word "British" in their name
Disadvantages: Customer Service (lack of), Prices, Attitude...oh everything really
...'s a Homecare plan, right? It covers parts and labour, right? Er .. Yes …but NOT the flue!
In addition, even though they've just been and done their annual "service", it doesn't count for a Landlords Certificate. No, you have to pay someone else to come and do that.
So, I'm asking myself. What do they actually do for all the money you pay on a Homecare plan? Not much, it seems.
Never mind, I'm still mulling over that quotation…..
**** Gas appliance installation ****
Disaster! It's a Saturday morning. We could smell Gas in the Kitchen and we had to call out Transco. Quick as a flash (well half hour actually, but that is good) they sent a very nice man, who pinpointed our problem to the gas hob. Thank God it wasn't the boiler! Now, unfortunately, the Gas isolation switch for the hob is behind the cooker. Our "very nice man" isn...

Happy Hobs!!
Review of Hob Brite by
mightymuffin
Advantages: Works very well, fairly inexpensive, easy to use
Disadvantages: Bit runny
...A couple of summer's ago, my husband gutted our old kitchen and put me in a nice new one with all the mod cons, including my new halogen hob! He told me I needed to be careful when cleaning it and the maufacturer's instruction for cleaning recommended Hob Brite, by Homecare.
I tootled off to Tesco and found it very easily, in with the rest of the household cleaning products. It cost at the time about £1.25 but it's since gone up in price a little and the last bottle I bought cost me £1.39 from Sainsbury's - the bottle contains 300ml, and to my knowledge does not come in any different sizes.
The first time I used my new hob I'd cooked us all a spaghetti bolognese and there were a few splashes of sauce sprinkled over the hob. I left the hob to cool down before I attempted to clean it, as directed on the bottle's instructions...

Sparkly glass, my ass?
Review of Hob Brite by
Ali1000
Advantages: Cheap, removes burnt-on deposits, gives a great surface shine
Disadvantages: Need to be careful not to mix with bleach
...INTRODUCTION
Hob Brite is a cleaning agent for ceramic and halogen hobs. Now, as you might know, if you have one of these hobs, they have a flat, glass surface. This is supposed to make them easy to clean, as you are supposed to be able to just wipe them over, without the hassle of having to, for example, take gas rings apart. However, I quickly learnt after acquiring a ceramic hob in my new home that a quick wipe-down after cooking does not keep the hob clean. Whenever a saucepan boils over, or food is otherwise spilt onto the elements embedded in the hob, nasty, burnt-on deposits build up which are hard to shift. I tried various multi-purpose cleaners such as Cif and Flash but they weren't up to the job. As the surface is glass, you are not supposed to use anything too abrasive to scrub it with, and so I found myself painstakingly...

keep your hob shiny and brite!
Review of Hob Brite by
muppetlady
Advantages: Hob brite last's ages
Disadvantages: none that i can think of
...Hob brite is a cream cleaner with conditioners, for ceramic and halogen hobs.
I've been using this for the past two years and found it to be very good,
Hob brite is recommended by belling, creda, neff, tricity bendix, zanussi, rangemaster, beaumatic, stoves and De Dietrich.
It's very easy to use, pour a small amount on a cloth or tissue, don't over do it you really do only need a small amount, you'll be there for hours rinsing otherwise.
Wipe glass lightly and rinse.
I use a non-scratch scourer to get the burnt on bits off, Hob brite recommend you use the homecare razor scraper, unfortunately I lost mine!
Do not use on a hot hob, It dries intantly, I use it on a cold hob and have found it works better this way.
Hob Brite contains-
Less than 30% inert meneral filler
Less than 5% none ionic surfactant
food grade acid...
