Sleepless nights in Zaragoza
Advantages: Smart looking hotel in convenient location with spacious rooms
Disadvantages: In a rough area, very noisy at night
...It’s likely that most of you have never heard of Zaragoza. Well, it’s situated in northeast Spain at the foot of the Pyrenees and is not very far from Barcelona. At the moment it is not known as a foreign tourist destination but it is big with the Spanish because of the holy significance of the Basilica where the Virgin Mary was supposed to have descended from heaven on a pillar. Hence the common Spanish girl’s name, Pilar. The attraction of the place to me was that it is not overrun with other tourists, prices are not jacked up in the summer, and the new Ryanair route has made travelling there easy. However, this may change because Zaragoza hosts Expo 2008 next year.
The problem with visiting a city that is not well known is that there are very few reviews on the hotels there. So you are a bit of a pioneer for other tourists. In...

Give It A Try!
Advantages: Interesting, well-organised and well-priced
Disadvantages: Not the first place you might think of to visit in spain
...Zaragoza is not the first location in Spain you might think of to spend a weekend - well neither was it mine. I must admit it was the lure of an REM concert which led me there. And yet travelling is sometimes all about expectations. I was therefore pleasantly surprised to discover Zaragoza ia a well-run, vibrant city with plenty to do and see.
Location
I thought vaguely it was somewhere between Madrid and Barcelona. Ok as vague ideas go but it is actually quite far to the north as Spain goes.
If you arrive by air be warned, the airport bus only goes to the centre of the city twice a day. Having said this taxis, despite the distance which is around seven miles, are not too expensive. A trip should set you back around £10-£12.
The trains station, Zaragoza Delicias, has been built for the AVE trains (fast link) and it shoes. It...

Albarracin
Advantages: Beauty, nature, peace
Disadvantages: there isn't a good bus service
...Well, really this opinion isn't about Zaragoza- but I will write one- but about a nice town that is between Zaragoza and Teruel. Zaragoza's land are 3 regions: Huesca, Zaragoza and Teruel and I am going to write about this last: Teruel.
First, I am going to talk about Albarracín and, after, I am going to talk about Teruel. Both are so nice and ideal for to spend a good weekend or a relaxing holidays.
Near Teruel there is Albarracín, one of the most beautiful Spanish towns. As Morella- in Castellón- and Santillana del Mar- in Santander-, Albarracín is a Middle Age town full of narrow streets and houses from XIV, XV, XVI, and XVII Centuries.
Walk by Albarracín's streets is a true present for your eyes, because you can find a nice house or an interesting place in every corner. All those streets are full of History and you can feel you...

What then should I be?
Advantages: Good for anyone in ministry and considering ministry (ordained or not)
Disadvantages: -
...Edward Zaragoza's book, 'No Longer Servants, But Friends: A Theology of Ordained Ministry' is a very important work to me. The idea of servant ministry is as old as the church, but it has an increasingly limited appeal in today's world in many respects, not the least of which that it is a model more honoured in the breach than in the observance. How realistic is it for the man standing at the altar covered in gold and glory to be regarded as a servant? Servant ministry has been a popular concept, as well as has been servant leadership (that a pastor should be a servant with managerial skills, et al.). But this begins to be too limiting on the one hand (reducing the role of who the pastor is or can be) and requiring too much on the other.
Jesus was himself a servant, leader, but also a friend. Indeed, Jesus even says we are no longer...

From Madrid to Liverpool, Via Monaco
Advantages: Strong in the air and good on the ground. Proven Goal scorer
Disadvantages: Has taken him a bit of time to adjust to the British Game, little bit too Greedy at times
...The Spanish revolution seems to be in full flow at Liverpool these days. In fact there are probably times last season when more Spaniards were on the pitch at Anfield than for certain teams actually in Spain. One of Rafa Benitez better signings has to be the former Real Madrid striker Fernando Morientes. He arrived at Anfield in January of this year and despite being cup tied for the European run he still looked like a decent striker and an excellent signing in the Premiership.
Having started his career pottering around a few of the smaller non league teams in Spain he caught the eye of Albacete. After 2 seasons and playing 22 games for Albacete and scoring 5 goals he moved on to the top division in Spain after the chance to play for Real Zaragoza came about in 1995. At the age of just 20 he broke into the Zaragoza first team almost...

BS Seis - A Snapshot of Spain
Advantages: Spanish architecture
Disadvantages: Touristy
...eloquently sums it up; as you wander through the aesthetically pleasing alleys, admire and absorb the samples of architecture from Zaragoza, Sevilla, Girona, Málaga, Navarra, Barcelona itself and many other places.
If that had been all, the Poble would have earned the full 5 stars. Unfortunately, the atmosphere was uncomfortably commercialised and touristy. Every other building was a tacky souvenir store, packed with visitors trawling through postcards, pottery and paintings. Admittedly, I too succumbed and bought an olive plate, which was very traditional according to my Spanish companions. However, to be perfectly blunt, this was the exception rather than the rule.
Depending on how smitten you are by the stalls, the Poble takes an hour or two to appreciate fully. According to the guide, the venue also hosts discos and bars, which are open...

SPANISH GIANTS? WHO DO THEY THINK THEY ARE?
Advantages: Nothing wrong with the football, just not quite HD
Disadvantages: These guys should be in the Prem league, and diving
...of the league after 23 games has stretched to an 8 point gap ahead of Barca, and this has really began to get well documented after they drew 1-1 with Seville and Real went on to get a huge 7-0 win over Valladolid. Villarreal and Atletico Madrid, both third and fourth respectively, are also enjoying a good run at the moment both winning this weekend. At the bottom of the 20-team league, Levante are looking disasterous on 13pts, whilst their nearest rivals Murcia sit on 23pts, although the closeness of the league means 19th is only two wins away from tenth placed Real Zaragoza on 29pts.
Although showing spanish football is clearly just an after thought, it does make for some solid entertainment, and I'm sure if it wasn't to do with some kind of licensing laws it would be presented to our audiance much clearer. At the moment however you will have...

Only Fools Will Write Us Off Now
Advantages: Under-rated and yet to unleash their full potential
Disadvantages: Big Tone's bad back and reliance on United needing injuries
...of management as United had during the 1990s, we would have matched them for trophies. And it pains me to bring this up, but we must apologies to all ABUs for a certain semi-final in 1999. If Dennis scored United would have won nothing and the double would have returned to Highbury for the second year in a row. That miss was the single worst feeling in watching football, beating the Zaragoza goal hands down, not to mention all the troubles Ireland have had under the idiot McCarthy.
A pattern has immerged over the years too. United have never one the title more than twice in a row. So this may be a good omen. I know most people hate Arsenal with almost as much passion as Ushited. But with no other force to compare in the Premiership, you may direct your hopes to us this year.
We dislodged Liverpool twice as their reign of kings of England...

The Theatre of Dreams
Advantages: Small, yet impressive
Disadvantages: Should not be hosting League Two football
...to watch the team I support in one of the finest grounds outside of the top flight, but I fear if this season (2006/07) ends in relegation then this review will be consigned to the history books along with the ground as it is levelled to make way for housing, retail etc.
The Racecourse Ground has a wide range of facilities for visitors and offers a comfortable environment for spectators watching Wrexham, or any other teams using the stadium.
Teams such as Liverpool, Roma, Man Utd, Arsenal, Porto, Milan, Zaragoza, England, and Romania have all graced the hallowed turf, and probably been surprised at the quality of the facilities used by a club of Wrexham's stature.
If Wrexham - fingers crossed - ever pull themselves out of the bottom flight and were to - fingers still crossed - reach the dizzy heights of The Championship then...

Pau - Vroom Vroom!
Advantages: Motor racing is abolutely fantastic, not too expensive, nice shops
Disadvantages: Not really a tourist town, limited places to visit
...?
In Pau itself, you can look around the chateau, which has its own museum. There is also an Art museum. The shopping is surprisingly good in Pau - there is a large department store, and many little shops selling quirky items. Prices range from very cheap to very expensive.
Spain is also within driving distance. The nearest major Spanish city is Zaragoza. The quickest way to get to Spain is to drive under the mountians through the 8.6km long Somport tunnel, which is an experience in itself.
I will continue to visit Pau each year for the motor racing. I wouldn't go at any other time of year, because there are not enough other things in the area to interest me for a decent holiday....
