...The Zen Micro in my mind is a good step away from the Apple Ipod and the Ipod Minis, my sister owns this version of the Zen Micro and I have decided to review it. The dimensions of the Zen Micro are: 51 mm x 84 mm x 19 mm this makes it smaller then the Ipod but having a slightly larger depth then the mini. However, still remaining small it can easily be placed within jacket pockets and even tighter jean pockets. The curved back face ensures that it doesn't dig into your body. The Zen Micro range provides 5GB of storage space which is about 2,500 songs and can playback mp3 and WMA files upto 320kbps, which can be transferred by USB 2.0 and the use of the provided software. ...Everyone thought it'd the "ipod beater", people were starting to choose the zen micro over the king of the market ipod. I thought that i'd buy one, as it was cheaper than an ipod and seemed to have more features. I've regretted it ever since. I first bought my zen micro in "Currys" in england, they were quite happy to sell me a creative player over the out of the stock ipod, and I went along with it and happily purchased one. The first thing I noticed about it is that it leaves much to be desired in terms of shape, its rounded and plump, with a side cut straight off for the buttons and screen. It makes your thumb shake after much use as it is almost to small and fat to use. I tried out the buttons and was also dissapointed. ...I recieved my Zen Micro for christmas this year and absolutley love it. Mine was around £150 but beware there can be a range in price due to the colours. I've found that the pink one is usually the most expensive and the black the cheapest with sometimes a £20 gap. If you search around though, you can find some places which sell them all for around the same price. The zen comes in a small blue box and is packaged neatly and tiderly. Itshows a picture that is lifesize of the zen micro inside. I could start using my zen as soon as I turned it on. It comes with a few default tracks so you can try it out immediatly. I was surprised about how small and cute it is, it will fit in pockets with ease. Navigating around the Zen can be a little difficult at first. ...use my Zen occasionally, although I am looking to get an I-pod very shortly to replace it. My advice on this product would be if you are not particularly bothered about colour and watching movies etc., and you don't want to put millions of songs on your on mp3, then it probably would be an good idea to purchase the Zen short term (especially as it is a lot chepaer than the I-pod Classic). Although if you want something that will lats you years, then stick with the I-pod because the Zen is prone to problems after a couple of years. Also, it is a bit 'behind the times' at the moment so go for the I-pod. Nonetheless, the Creative Zen Micro has given me a lot of joy over the years and I am still reluctant in binning it for the rival I-pod... so overall I would give this product a 3 star rating.... ...I have been using a white version of the creative zen micro since April of last year now, and casting aside one or two problems, it has served me astoundingly well. Creative are famous for their fantastic sound quality, and the micro is no exception. As for comparing the sound quality with that of the ipod mini (the micro's relative equivalent), it is substantially superior; the difference was palpable when I borrowed my friends. On the negative side however is a consistent problem with the hardware; namely the headphone jack. About 3 months after my purchase, the sound wulaity became extremely distorted. Imagine a CD player on a public bus without Anti Shock Protection...Not nice. ...2 years ago, the "craze" was to have an ipod mini....or anything made my Apple. However, i wanted to try something different, something that wasnt made by Apple, but still looked "cool". So i decided that i wanted an mp3 player made by Creative. After wanting this for ages...my parents finally decided to get me one for my birthday, and what a birthday present it was! Knowing nothing at all about capacity or anything, my brother told me the specification, which made it even more brilliant! The Zen Micro has 5GB capacity - so it can hold up to 2500 songs in wma format and 1250 in mp3 format, but at the moment i havent used all of the capacity up yet.
