Ford Focus Edge 1.8 16v Zetec 3 Door.
Review of Ford Focus Edge 1.8i 16V Zetec by  jay.b

Advantages: Sporty, comfortable, looks good.
Disadvantages: None.

...I bought this car brand new in January 2005 and got a good discount because the new shape model was about to come out. I went for the sporty looking 3 door model in Machine Silver and the equipment included was very good. 16 inch alloys are standard on this model. The Cd player is very good and the sound quality is excellent. The driver, passenger and side airbags are a very good safety feature as are the anti-lock brakes. I was immediately impressed with the sure handling of the car and it corners like it's on rails! The speed and power of the car is also impressive. The power steering is light and responsive. Its a very comfortable car to drive with adjustments available to the steering wheel and the seat moves up and down as well as backwards and forwards. It also seats 5 adults comfortably. Air Con adds to the comfort on hot... Read review

A loaded little package. The Zetec.
Review of Ford Fiesta Zetec 1.4i 16v 5dr by  andycharger

Advantages: Great fun, loads of extras, cheap insurance
Disadvantages: Space

...Now we have just gone out and taken advantage of a cracking deal that ford are currently offering to the public. A brand new fiesta with air conditioning for free all for £8,995!!! Wow! I hear you cry. But what am I getting for my money? Well, the deal is not quite what it seems. the good price is for a 3 door with no metallic paint. This limits your colours greatly. So go for the metallic paint option. ANOTHER £250!!! OK, me and the wife are having a baby. Lets go 5 door.... ANOTHER £700!!! So the cheap car is suddenly getting expensive. However, you are still getting a lot of car for your money. Firstly, lets look under the bonnet. Here sits a pokey 1.4 litre Fuel injected Zetec engine. The 16 Valve performance gives a steady acceleration that wont break any records but will get you nipping around town. It will go... Read review

Polo 16v - Lovely Car
Review of VW Polo 16V by  VWyorks

Advantages: Looks, Comfort, quality
Disadvantages: Fuel Economy, short gear ratio

...I have had 2 of these cars and various other VW's so im quite familiar with them all. I mainly bought the polo 16v for its looks and it was also the highest spec polo at the time of production. It came with power steering, electric everything, colour coded bumpers (16v sportier bumpers) c/c mirrors and the 16v alloys as standard (there were 2 styles depending on year). The build quality of the car is something french manufacturers can only dream of, or should i say, aspire to. The doors are chunky, the sports seats are slightly bucketed for support, the interior is pleasant and not got that cheap 'plasticy' feel a lot of others have. If you break something parts are plentiful in the scrap yards and ebay. Steer clear of VW as they overcharge. The engine is easy to navigate and it is clear to see that it is a 16v under there... Kylie - The Clio 1.2 16v Dynamique
Review of Renault Clio Dynamique 1.2 16v 3dr by  almarsden

Advantages: Fun, cheap to run and insure, stylish and safe.
Disadvantages: Leaky sunroofs.

...This review is based on a 2004 Renault Clio 1.2 16v Dynamique. After having an accident in my previous Clio (a 1.6 16v Dynamique) I set out looking for a new car, eventually I found myself (after much looking) the following car… A 2004 Renault Clio 1.2 16v Dynamique in flame red, the colour I really wanted, my previous car had digital climate control and an electric sunroof so I purposefully found a car that also had these features. Being the 2004 model it had the face lifted front end (MK2 PH3) The car I found had the following specification: Performance: Engine - 1.2 16v 4cyl MPI (multipoint injection) Power - 75bhp Torque - 105Nm 0-60 - 12.6secs Top Speed - 106mph Gearbox - 5 speed manual Interior: Sports seats Digital Climate Control Electric Sunroof with sunblind Electric windows (one touch... Fiesta Zetec 1.25 - Great car for the price!
Review of Ford Fiesta Zetec 1.25 3dr by  chillygreece

Advantages: Many - Looks good, drives well, great extras, very comfortable
Disadvantages: Honestly none come to mind!

...but Ford had stopped making the car with that particular engine at that time so I was eventually convinced to go for the 1.25. I should point out that it is also 16v which gives the car an edge over my previous fiesta which was a 1.3. It is a quick car and I rarely see another car that can beat me off the mark from a standing start. Very nippy in low gears and surprisingly responsive even at high speed. Although a town car by nature I drive on the motorway for 300 miles each weekend and it performs brilliantly under these conditions and is actually well suited to these driving conditions. Fiestas have always been good budget cars however Ford have worked tirelessly on improving the image and the internal parts of the car proves that hard work brings success! The trim and equipemnt inside is black with silver detail which makes the inside... Read review

VW Corrado 16v
Review of VW Corrado 16V by  Baldrick69

Advantages: Ultimate combination of performance and looks
Disadvantages: Discontinued model, expensive to run

...Just sold my G reg Corrado 16v. It had done over 200,000 miles and was still going strong. The engine was staggeringly good. Only a 1.8 unit but kept on pouring out the power right up to the red line. Much faster than any 2.0 car I have driven. My G reg managed to avoid having a catalytic converter and I think that probably gave it the edge. Handling was very good although its quite heavy car so if you do loose traction you'll slide a long way. Inside was very bland but it can be forgiven because of its gorgeous exterior which still looks good even today. Getting it serviced at a VW dealer is horrendously expensive - non-franchasied garages are only slightly better given their tendency to use genuine VW parts. The paintwork detereorated badly after about 6 years. It seems to be the case with a lot of VWs that the paint... Read review

2004 Corsa C SRi 1.8 16v
Review of Vauxhall Corsa SRi 1.8i 16v by  MJRacer

Advantages: Fun, Pratical, Stylish....
Disadvantages: None to be honest!

...After someone crashing into the back of my Mitsubishi Galant V6 & writing it off, I was looking for a replacement car. I already own a 52 reg Corsa C SXi 1.2 16v but wanted similar power to the Galant, thats when I saw the 1.8 SRi & fell in love with it instantly. I bought a SRi 2004 1.8 in Ultra Blue for £6995 with 15k on the clock. First looks of the SRi: Looks very sporty but very under rated in my opinion & looks can be deceiving when it comes to the performance of this car. Driving the SRi: The SRi is a great car to drive, you can drive as normal getting great mpg (35) & comfort all day long. But when you want the evil, fun side of the SRi............Simply put the foot down and the fun begins. The acceleration is unbelievable of this little car, mines is 7.5s 0-60mph, Top speed is 130+mph Driving at high speeds... Read review

Vauxhall Corsa SXi 1.3CDTi 16v 2007
Review of Vauxhall Corsa SXi 1.3CDTi 16v by  linkz0rz

Advantages: Diesel engine so fuel economy is good. Much better styling inside and outside
Disadvantages: It's still a Corsa from Vauxhall, which means it's still by General Motors.

..., it was different somehow. The car had a different sort of styling to it, it had a different feel. The angled headlights made the car look angrier now, and the angled back made it look like a sports coupe. The alloys actually looked like they were the right size for the car and the backend didn’t look bad either, but it still has an unnecessary spoiler. I was thoroughly surprised, a Vauxhall Corsa that was actually pretty nice to look at. My mate then got out of his car, walked up to me with a slight swagger, and smiled at my surprised face. “It is a Corsa that is, and it is a SXi. But this is the new Corsa SXi CDTi 1.3l 16v 90ps.” For those that don’t know what that meant, he was boasting about his Corsa being the ‘sport’ model, which if you have read my previous review, I slated immensely. But this was a different sort of Corsa, it was a CDTi... Read review

Fiesta Finesse 1.25i 16v 2004 model
Review of Ford Fiesta Finesse 1.25i 16V by  jools13

Advantages: Improved looks and a more spacious Fiesta
Disadvantages: Less rear visibility

...When I needed to replace my old banger I looked at quite a number of small cars to compare looks, handling and features. I decided to purchase the 2004 model Fiesta 1.25i 16v based upon its looks, very much like a small Ford Focus, the increased interior space, fuel economy, safety features and value for money. It is quite nifty for a 1.25 engine and is comfortable to drive. The steering column can be adjusted along with the seat to enable a much more comfortable driving position. The gears are easy to use and with power steering the car handles very well. It has front airbags and ABS. I was a little disappointed to discover no electric front windows however the CD player fitted as standard makes up for that. The boot space is exceptional for a small car and the rear seats can be folded down to make even more space... Read review
