...Ok, if you've not read my reviews on other drum stuff then i'll explain what i do briefly. I've been playing the drums for around 19 years now and i'm still very active in the music industry.I presently play drums in a semi/professional (hoping to be proffessional)band.I have played in professional bands in the past and i've toured in the past too, so i feel i can give an honest opinion and maybe give a good idea of what people can get for their money. I've been using Zildjian cymbals now for around 2 years, i used paiste signitures before hand. Presently i'm using 2 Zildjian avedis rock crashes, one 16inch and one 18inch. Advantages: Good quality, good brand cymbals at a good price

...The ZBT range is Zildjian's attempt at making 'budget' cymbals. For your £150 you get a pack consisting of a set of 14" Hi-hats, a 16" Crash and a 20" Ride. The cymbals all have the Zildjian logo on them and have a nich shiny finish. There is one thing that I don't like about these cymbals though, and that is the crash. It has a sound that I can only describe as the sound you would get if you hit a metal dustbin lid. It is an extremley raw, jagged sound, which dies out quite slowly. This might be the sound you want if you play in a really heavy band, but if you are mainly using the cymbals for emphasis in quieter songs, it really doesn't work. However, the hi-hats and ride are quite good, in fact they are excellent when considering the cost. Thi hi-hats give a crisp sound when they are played shut, although do suffer slightly... ...I regularly play 2 Zildjian A Custom cymbals. They are without a doubt the nicest I have ever played. The cymbals that I play are a 14" Crash and an 8" Splash. Both are quite thin cymbals, and have a nice bright finish to them. 14" Crash This cymbal gives a medium pitched sound when hit. It gives a nice warm sound whnd you hit it reasonably hard, which dies away slowly, giving a lovely deep sound as it dies out. If you hit it really hard you get a huge sound from it, which again dies away slowly. 8" Splash This cymbal gives a quick high sound that dies away quickly. Excelent for an extra bit of emphasis in a song. Both these cymbals complement each other really well. The nicest sound can be achieved by hitting them simultaneously. ...As a drummer of 12 years i've been through my fair share of drum kits and cymbals, and one of my latest purchases was a set of Z-Custom cymbals to add some power to my kit. i will break them down into their own sections. Info on Z-customs - These cymbals are the biggest and heaviest cymbals you will find by Zildjian, they were made primarily for heavy metal / metal bands but can be used infrequently by all drummers to provide a very powerful crash. Z-Custom 16" Rock Crash - This cymbal was one of my favourites out of the bunch, it has a great punching crash with a quite slow decay making it good for the heavier parts of your songs. Z-Custom 18" Medium Crash I think this cymbal would be my favourite purely because of the sound quality, it its very crisp with a medium decay making it great for the "loud to quiet" parts of songs... ...popular starting cymbal setup, due to its massive variety and great sound quality to price ratio. for around £130, you could have a hi-hat, crash and ride setup, superior in sound quality than it's similarly priced counter-parts. Whereas Paiste or Zildjian focus on their reputations by creating stunningly good, yet stunningly expensive cymbals, Sabian have maintained their focus on all ranges, including that of the beginner. This attention can clearly be seen in the B8 range, when compared with it's rivals, the Paiste 302 plus series and the Zildjian ZBT range. B8 cymbals are well-priced and good looking. They are hard to damage, yet come in all sizes, including thin-cut, and thick/heavy for rock. The cymbals have a very good ring time, fair volume and do not collapse much in quality overtime. ...worte an opinion on Zildjian ZBT cymbals earlier tonight, and someone posted a comment saying "Wouldn't know the difference between a Hi hat and a top hat, but good review nonetheless." This person obviously isn't a drummer, and has no intention of buying these cymbals, so why did they read the opinion? Was it because they think that by reading lots of other people's opinions, the opinions they have written will be read by lots of people, therefore earning them money? I personally won't read someone elses opinions just because they have read mine. I read opinions that are going to be of use to me. I am 19, so I'm not going to read opinions on holidays for the over 60's, because they are of no interest whatsoever to me. Anyway, that is what I think. Am I alone in this viewpoint?... Read review
