...Many of us have still got quite old computers, which while still doing the job we purchased them for are perhaps not quite as capable to cope with the rapid speed at which computer accessories change. These old or not quite so new PC's may not have what many consider an essential item these days, a USB card reader, or more specifically an SD card reader. The main use of these inventive little cards is to store all those precious digital images we all capture on our digital cameras. All manner of cables and leads are of course supplied with your camera, but it is not always practical to carry these rather bulky items around with you just so you can display your little masterpieces with friends, family and colleagues. It's not the smallest or lightest of the Pocket PCs reviewed in this issue. But it's nice to look at, fits comfortably in your hand, and has a powerful Intel processor, two expansion slots, and replaceable batteries. It can hold its own against any of the top Pocket PCs available, and at £279, it costs about half the price of its competitors. I didn't get a chance to look at the value version of the Axim X5. But the specs seem to indicate that it's just about as good as the top-of-the-line model. I asked Dell about their future plans.
