ride the beast two-up
Review of Kawasaki ZZR1100c by
noofer
Advantages: a comfy ride and very fast
Disadvantages: none
...I write this as a pillion rider of the fantastic ZZR1100, the fastest bike on the road for 6 yrs running (until the Hiabusa (?) came out)
Hubby bought it new on an R plate and we still love it. I don't ride as yet <smile> but I love to ride pillion on this beast of a machine. From my point of view it's Very Comfortable and I don't sit with my head in the clouds like a lot of pillions do. I don't get the wind nearly taking my lid off as we speed <grin> down the road either!
The foot rests are easy to find and the grab rail is not too small to fit a gloved hand in. There's plenty of room on the back seat for me but I do like to be close!!!!
It's fast, it's meaty, it's the BEAST of all machines and I love it!
There's nothing like sitting at the lights next to a young wippersnapper on his 600 than to take his breath away when we...

Mines a D 2
Review of Kawasaki ZZR1100-D1 by
BigMik
Advantages: powerfull, rider friendly, comfy, loves miles
Disadvantages: eats tyres, stock exhaust is pants,
...Bought the zzr 1100 D2 6 months ago, from a dealer. Its second hand and over 10 years old, it had been dropped, but this lot stil never put me off. I had new clutch , new engine and just finished the warranty off with a full micron exhaust, thanks Bill Head, that is warranty.
this is without a doubt the best toy i have ever ridden. It is so powerfull, yet so controlable. feed back isn't great but then it weighs in at over a 1/4 tonne.
72 mph in 1st gear, regular returns of over 45 mpg and will ride round town in the top gears as easily as it will cruise at 130 MPH.
top speed is silly, but theres no weave. i fitted a flip up screen just to take the slight buffeting away, but then i am 6ft 4. i weigh over 20 stone, and even with a pillion on the bike has no bad manners. The mirrors are better than most, and the lay out works well...

Great Sports Tourer!
Review of Kawasaki ZZR1100-D1 by
iger78
Advantages: Speed, Acceleration, Comfort,
Disadvantages: Wear boots or you will be eating you're calve for supper!!
...I was given this second hand ZZR-D model a couple of times to take our customers out on Sunday breakfast runs.
What a beast.... I now understand why the ZZR was the worlds fastest production bike for a very long time. Acceleration and topspeed is phenominal for a bike this of age.... since it had a lot of kilo's on it, some fine tuning would have done wonders!
The ZZR is well on the heavy side and wheelies took a moderate amount of evert but once on the backwheel things were easy. Wind protection is great and this was a very comfy ride.
After long rides I my right calve felt a bit slow cooked from heat coming from the motor.
The suspension whas worn out bad and fast corners whent down commicly weebly wably... as I was shamefully laughed at.
Fuel consumption not bad for a beast but if you open up hard you will flush...

SIX YEARS WITH THE ZED
Review of Kawasaki ZZR1100-D1 by
fluffymonster
Advantages: POWER, SPEED, COMFORT, ENGINE
Disadvantages: DATED, QUICK ROT DOWNPIPES, POOR CALIPERS
...BOUGHT THE BIKE BACK IN '94 WHEN IT WAS TOP OF THE SPEED CHARTS.
HAD A FEW PROBLEMS (MAINLY DUE TO WINTER RIDING) INCLUDING; SIEZED CALIPERS CAUSING DISC WARPING, EXHAUST DOWNPIPES ROTTING, FORKS PITTING AND WHEELS CORRODING, BUT OTHERWISE THE OLD DOG HAS STOOD UP WELL TO THE 40,000 PLUS MILES I'VE PUT ON HER.
FRONT DISCS WERE REPLACED WITH PFM ONES AND EXHAUST REPLACED WITH MICRON 2000 SYSTEM AND RACE CAN (ALSO WITH ZXR750 CARB TOPS AND DYNOJET KIT!!)
ENGINE STILL WITHIN MANUFACTURERS TOLERANCES AND DYNO'D AT A RESPECTABLE 136.2BHP AT THE REAR WHEEL.
THE TOP SPEED CROWN FELL A WHILE BACK NOW TO THE BLACKBIRD AND LATER THE 'BUSA BUT AT A RECENT 'RUN WOT YA BRUNG' I WASTED TWO BLACKBIRDS BY AROUND 50YDS AND ONLY JUST LOST OUT TO A HAYABUSA ... SURPRISINGLY AN R1 GAVE ME A RUN FOR MY MONEY TOO.
THE ZZR IS A FANTASTIC TOURING TOOL...

HP1100 Business Ink Jet
Review of HP Business Inkjet 1100d by
stevenstel
Advantages: Super Quality 4800dpi printing at home
Disadvantages: Expensive Ink, Quite Big and bulky
...Having previously had a HP 1100 Inkjet at work, i loved it so much i bought one for home, the price of these printeres are a little high, but in my opinion its quite worth the extra money.
The set up and installation of the printer is very easy and so to is replacing the inks and heads should you need too.
I have owned a HP1100 for over 12 months now, Printing virtually every day and approx 20 sheets a day. I am only on my 2nd second of inks, you do get ink to start with when purchasing the machine but somewhat 30% of a full cartridge.
If you do buy HP inks which I would recommend, these can be around £20 per cartridge... be warned though, there are 4 cartridges...
If you run a business from home or you need a better quality printer for what ever reason then I highly recommend the HP1100. Ive never had a problem...

BMW RT1100 v RT1150
Review of BMW R1100RT by
ellislp
Advantages: handling, performance, functionality
Disadvantages: Price, BMW dealerships being too busy at the moment!
...So the new 1150 RT is out, with many similarities but some big differences to the 1100. I've got a 2000 RT and have tested the 1150 and confess to being impressed, but not overly. Not enough to warrant a trade in for sure!
The 1100 is a great bike and should not be under-estimated. It certainly keeps up well enough with the sporty 600s upto 110mph and is guaranteed to leave you feeling less ruffled, dryer, warmer and a lot more smug than the sports bike riders.
Personally, I prefer the looks and characters of the BMW brigade, so the Honda Pan European wasn't an option. If it was, that would be a difficult choice!
So what about the 1150? Waiting lists are long and dealerships are really busy at the moment - is it worth the wait? I have to say no! Sure the new linked brakes offer fantastic stopping power (touch the rear brake...

HP TC1100 - Pocket dynamite
Review of HP Compaq Tablet PC TC1100 - Pentium M 1 GHz - 10.4" TFT by
maxmidnight
Advantages: Incredibly slick, lightweight and robust. Toughened screen and powerful.
Disadvantages: Screen display is somewhat 'fiddly', compressed into 10". No extra casing protection.
...Over the past few months, I have been evaluating and rolling out tablet PC's across my organisation within the Health industry. My evaluation has covered the HP Compaq TC1100, the Motion M1200, the Fujitsu Stylistic ST4120, and the Toshiba Portégé 3500. What follows is a brief discussion of the HP TC1100 which I hope will give users some guidance and prove informative.
The HP TC1100 is the most versatile tablet PC design overall. You can use it like a regular notebook with attached keyboard or fold the keyboard under to use it in tablet mode, what sets it apart from the rest however is that it can be totally detached from the keyboard. This was a very attractive proposition and makes for a very slick and streamlined tablet for the truly mobile user. This option makes the device a staggeringly lightweight (3.1 lb) slate. As a pure...

'03 CBR1100xx-Oh what a motorcycle!
Review of Honda CBR1100XX by
skater69
Advantages: POWER, handling, smoothness, stability
Disadvantages: Some may need time to adapt to riding position
...I've had my CBR1100xx only a month and have logged about 1450 miles so far. I came from cruiser bikes so the riding position took some adjustment for me. If you haven't ridden forward seating bikes like the XX, you'd be wise to get a book ("Sport Riding Techniques” by Nick Ienatsch is invaluable) or some pointers from someone who has one. Otherwise, you're likely to position yourself wrong and end up with unneeded pain. Helibars or VFR bars is a common upgrade to these bikes as the stock handlebar position can be a bit low especially if you're under 6 ft like I am. I have VFR handlebars installed on mine with gel grips, which raise the bars about another inch or so and is much better for me.
For the record, the proper way to ride is to sit with your crotch 1 inch from the tank, with your elbows totally bent and relaxed (not...

BT Quartet 1100
Review of BT Quart 1100 by
jehowe
Advantages: Good shape and design; Page button; 1-touch '1471'
Disadvantages: Tends to cut out; Reception is unpredictable
...We bought the BT Quartet 1100 as a replacement for out existing cordless telephone, which had a bit of an accident with the floor - it was never the same again!
PRICE
We were basically looking for something at the cheaper end of the BT range, having previously had problems with a lesser-known brand phone. The BT Quartet 1100 seemed to be a great price, especially as it was in the sale. This was something we later regretted as I suppose sometimes you just get what you pay for.
DESIGN
I like the look of the phone a lot. It is white, so does tend to fit in with most decor. Unlike our previous model, it has a more curved body and sits in the moulded base very well. It feels very comfortable to hold, which is a great asset when you spend ages on the phone. It also seems quite robust and has put up with many months of daily use...
