...online about this Vax model. Pricing and Impressions £50 later after buying it at Argos, I took the Quicklite V046S home with me. I was really surprised when opening the box to find that all I needed to do was to drop the handle and lock it into the back of the Vax and then just switch on whenever it was needed. But before I did, I put a new bag into the Goblin and went over the carpets as I would normally do just to see what this new Vax would take up afterwards. The design of the V046S is rather pleasing if not overly loaded with too many graphics. A swirly decal showing "thunder bolt" type labels has already been embossed on the main bin and there's no way of getting rid of this. It doesn't however impede the sight of dirt flying around the cyclonic chamber, but the filter itself isn't like my sister's more expensive Dyson DC01... Read review

...I've just finished cleaning the flat and was mildly irrated by my vacuum cleaner so I thought I would share this irritation with ciao readers. Now, over the years I have gone through many vacum cleaners trying both uprights and cylinders but they all seem to have their own problems and nuisances. Some have been poor suckers, others have been heavy and cumbersome to use. So when a friend recommended the Vax VS-03 I checked the price (quite cheap!) and duly bought one. At first I was delighted with my Vax - it was small and user friendly with tremendous sucking power! However, it soon let me down. The problem seems to be overheating - I don't have a lot of carpet in my house but within 15 minutes or so of use the vacuum just cuts out, feeling very hot to the touch. ...I am sure that most of you are familiar with the bright orange, get your sunglasses out, Vax carpet cleaning system. I am now on my second one having bought my first when they were the state of the art vacuum cleaner and launched into the shops some twenty years ago. Now, don’t get me wrong, I am not an obsessive cleaner, but we currently own three hoovers. Interestingly, none of them are actually made by Hoover! When we moved here my Vax gave up the ghost after years of sterling service. It was with a sense of sadness that I hurled it into the huge skip at the council tip! I then bought a Dyson upright cleaner. I do generally prefer an upright cleaner- much easier on the old back! The Dyson has been, for the most part great. I'd heard very good reports from friends about both brands, most people said that the carpets 'came up as new' so I decided to take the plunge and buy the middle of the range model from Vax. After shopping around I decided to buy the Vax Rapide Deluxe model for £94 + VAT and delivery from www.goshopdirect.co.uk, this included paying an extra £7 for next day delivery, I believe their normal delivery time is around 7-10 days. I was very impressed with the service from goshopdirect and the hoover arrived via courier on the given delivery date. ...As somepeople may know, I own a dyson DC07 (purchased for £239.00) which I bought a couple of months ago. The manufacturer claims that it is 'the most powerful upright cleaner'. Benefits include; a hygienic remote trigger bin?, ready-to-go-hose? and Dyson root8cyclone technology giving 45% more suction than a dual cyclone. All this sound great, but what the adverts don't tell you is that they are a bugger if anything goes wrong. I've had nothing but problems with my Dyson, clogged filters after a couple of minutes, the clear waste bin becoming so scratched - it's now hard to see what you've just picked up etc etc. Unfortunately, I have the knack of being able to buy rubbish. ...After having used a well-known brand of hoover for about four years, it gave up the ghost and I was on the hunt for a new one. I needed a hoover that was reasonably priced, and an appliance that would pick up dog hairs, as one of my Springer Spaniels sheds dreadfully! (Surprisingly she is NOT bald!) Enter the Vax Turboforce cyclonic power cleaner at 1700 watt. Having seen it advertised in Argos and comparing other hoovers alongside the Vax turboforce, I opted to take the plunge with the Vax 006. When it final started to go wrong and lose suction (yep it did), I hunted around for a replacement having since acquired two dogs ..... The Purchase -------------------- The VAX 6151SX sounds a bit like a car, and has almost as man features. The 6 in 1 is trumpetted by VAX but to be honest I really only use 2 or 3. The key buying criteria were: (i) power - needed to be able to suck up Australia from the UK (ii) hepa filters - allergies need dust supression (iii) cleaning as well as vacuuming - puppies poop and pee and not always where you would like (iv) price - I picked up the VAX from an online retailer for around £150 - not bad at the time. ...This particular model came into our household about two years ago. If I remember, it was an early production model. My wife bought it, after a Dyson fell to pieces. My initial feelings were, that the Vax would be just another reincarnation of the Dyson, but I am pleased to say, 'I was wrong'!
