I use Kansa Craft for my Stained Glass Supplies, situated in an old flour mill at Elsecar just outside Barnsley. It stocks almost everything that a stained glass hobbyist or professional could need from tools to materials. There is a vast array of glass from different manufacturers: suitable for the beginner, up to Bulls eye and Uroboros for the expert to create into Tiffany reproduction work. Much of it is available in different sizes from handy craft to full sized sheets

The supplies include tools: grinders, cutters and soldering irons, in fact almost everything that could be required. I like working with copper foil, but they do stock items needed for leaded glass work too.

For inspiration they have a display of work in their showroom upstairs and this includes tiffany style lampshades that have been made using moulds and reproduction bases to go with them. They also have a good stock of pattern books for a large variety of stained glass items.

In my experience the staff are very helpful and have in the past spent time with me helping me to choose colour combinations and types of glass that go together well. They’ve also answered any questions that I’ve needed to ask and being a beginner I’ve needed to ask quite a few!

I have a catalogue that I obtained from them and use this when I’m making my list of requirements before I visit them. It’s possible to telephone, fax or email orders through or to collect directly from them. They do mail order but I’ve never needed to use this, apart from once when they were waiting for some Ringstar pliers to come back into stock again. I paid for them along with the rest of my purchases and they arrived through my letterbox a few days later.
