Although I am a big chocolate lover I can also be partial to the odd packet of sweets. I really like fruity sweets and if they are a little on the sour side then that it just great for me. The last packet of sweets that caught my eye was the starburst tongue tangles. I like the original starburst fruit chew sweet and can even remember back to the days when they were called opal fruits so thought that I would give these a try.
I purchased the starburst tongue tangles from my local post office and they cost £0.55 for a 41g pack. I was a little surprised that they were so expensive but this may have been due to the fact that I purchased them from a smaller store where large shops tend to be a little more competitive with prices.
The sweets come in a foil wrapper which is bright orange on the outside with the starburst logo on the front with a picture and description of the flavour of each sweet inside. You can also find nutritional information and full ingredients listings on the packet too. Inside you will find the sweets individually wrapped in small waxy wrappers. The only problem that I found with the packaging is that you cannot tell which flavour sweet you are picking as the individual wrappers are all the same colour.
There are three different flavour sweets contained inside each packet, these are:
- Banana and Mango
- Blueberry and Lemon
- Apricot and Cherry
The sweets comprise of a chewy outside and liquid fruity centre, the outside being one flavour and the middle the other. The sweets are oval in shape and are a nice size to pop straight in your mouth.
Personally I loved these sweets as soon as u start to eat one you can taste the fruitiness straight away. And it is not long before the liquid centre bursts to give your taste buds another tangy fruit flavour. One thing I really did love about these sweets is that they are a little sour which I find just great as I much prefer that than sweets that are overly sweet and sickly tasting. I don't think that I have a favourite flavour out of the three I really did enjoy them all and the combination of the chewy outside and gooey liquid centre really is a great texture contrast. My packet of these really didn't last long and I will certainly be purchasing them again!
