I am always on the look out for useful sites and services and what a useful site this has proved to be, I regularly use it rather than go to the expense of buying maps. What am I going on about, Streetmaps.co.uk, here you will find OS maps for every location in the UK and in most cases you can even locate street level maps, by that I mean maps allowing you to pinpoint any individual road in the country. Finding somewhere has never been so easy.

The site can be easily searched on a variety of criteria, Post Code, UK Place Name (town city village, etc), OS Grid Reference, Landranger Grid Reference, Longitude and Latitude and Telephone area code. There is also a separate search for London Street Names. The search is simplicity itself, just type in what you want and the site will do the best to find it for you. Once found you are presented with a map of the location, from here you can zoom in (mostly down to street name level) and out, you can also navigate around to surrounding areas to give you a greater overall area. At the greatest zoom you are presented with an area scale of 500 meters to the square (approx 2 inches).

An excellent feature that is provided for your use is the URL of the map you are viewing, great for inclusion in your website or for e-mailing to a friend with directions. Just copy and paste the link and they can go directly to the map you want. It also gives you the full 6 digit OS map reference.

For those in business there are additional services that you can buy into such as the Store Locator where your business premises can be pinpointed on a map and included in your literature or web page. It also provides a list of your business premises for easy store/office location. Probably not really designed for the small business as the costs are fairly expensive but ideal for the larger business.

Overall a useful easy to use site, maps can at times be a little slow to load but remember they are fairly large graphics files.

You may never need to buy another map again.
