Advantages: Navigation, loyalty, great range of products, good customer service Disadvantages: prices can be beaten elsewhere
I first discovered ‘Streetsonline’, or ‘Infront’ as you may wish to name it about January 1999 when I saw an advert on AOL, listing it as an online shop for music Compact Discs. The site was established in 1996, this was really the time when the internet was recognised as a potential home shopping mall waiting to happen.
My relationship was first of all cloudy. I discovered the site, did not read much about it, and stupidly ... ...of them then benefited from referring me to the site and picking up some points by doing so. First thing to do is to sign up. You give your details; name, phone number, address and card details over a secure server, and choose a password, and password hint. To log-in, you must enter your name, email address along with this password. The site offers more than CD’s though, and I have decided that it will be my task to convey all the information ...

...in which Mrs D finally shows she actually has some value in this wonderful world of ours...
Three or four days ago, Mrs D, as is her wont, was wandering around on the net in a vain search for something useful, when she came across something which was very, very good indeed. This particular quest for the Holy Grail was sparked off by the old harridan's listening to some of our old LP's, 'Ju Ju' by Siouxsie and the Banshees, it was. After being ... ...crackle-less nature of the compact disc, it came as something of a rude awakening to hear the crackle, blip, fart of good old vinyl, a distressing feeling indeed when you're trying to savour the majesty of 'Spellbound', and all you get is 'Cradle bars ... crack, spit, BZZZZAPPP'.
Something snapped in her great angry bonce and she resolved there and then that she was going to replace our treasured, but very crackly, LP collection with the pristine ...

Advantages: Good loyalty scheme, wide selection of books Disadvantages: Having to have a credit card to register
At first glance Streetsonline seems much like any other shopping site but there is certainly treasure to be had here! By submitting reviews on books, CD's, DVD's, or games you will receive the equivalent of £1 in points which can then be redeemed for products at Alphabetstreet, Audiostreet, DVDstreet, and Gamestreet. Each review is worth 5 points and you must collect 25 points (£5) before redeeming. Personally I think this is a good deal - especially ... ...found the site this offer was due to end this Feb 2001 but happily they have now extended this deadline to September 2001. Points MUST by redeemed by then. The reviews themselves need to be short and snappy - between 400 and 800 CHARACTERS which is not a lot when you are used to being as wordy as me! Think of the blurb on the back of a book and you have the idea of length. The reviews are hand checked rather than automatically going on the site so ...

Advantages: Some very good offers and prices and excellent service and ease of use Disadvantages: Some prices are over the top
Streets Online, to be found at infront.co.uk are among my favourite e-tailers. I stumbled across them a little over a year ago when looking for DVD’s for my new player. I was happy at their prices, and the fact that they offered free UK delivery (THEY DONT ANYMORE 5/7/01). I ordered 2 DVD’s and a book, all were with me a couple of days later. I have since used them for over thirty items, and I have never had a problem. The site itself ... ...offer. Alphabetstreet.
Books, loads of them and mostly at prices lower than the high street. Searchable by all manner of categories including authors, titles and ISDN numbers.
Audiostreet.
The weaker link, lots of CDs but all at prices that you can probably beat on the high street with a little looking. It's a shame because the service is so good, one olus is that you can listen to album samples on the website.
DVDStreet.
DVD’s they often ...

Advantages: Some good prices Disadvantages: Generally better prices elsewhere online
Streets online used to be a great source for obtaining cheap DVD's, Videos, Books and Games. I've used them several times in the past but recently I've become a little disappointed with them. This was capped off the other day when I received an e-mail informing me that they're going to be introducing p&p charges. Anyway, as mentioned they sell Books, Videos, DVD's games and CD's. A typical CD costs round £11.99 so straight away you can save yourself ... ...single CD albums!). The price of CD's is supposed to be coming down due to their new pricing policy but then add £1 on for p&p and you'll find that there isn't any difference. Luckily the p&p is per order but if like me you only buy one at a time then that's not much use. DVD's are quite expensive actually and on regular occasions you could actually get them at the same price or less from MVC and that's on the high street! www.play247.com certainly ...
