I used Sutton Seeds for the first and last time this year. First off I ordered a number of pot ready perennial plants that the website states should reach you in a healthy condition with up to 13cm of growth. These arrived packed in small plastic containers holding 5 plants in each. The container grips the root ball of the plant in one section and foliage is held in the upper part of the packaging and if the plants inside the packaging differ from ... ...The Fuchsia plants I ordered where marked up this way so i carefully marked up the pots i potted on with but soon realized as these grew that they had not been correctly packaged an now I'm having to wait for them to flower before I can find out which is which. Due to the economic downturn, we decided to try and grow our own this season.
searching through the seed suppliers at the garden centre, We found that Suttons had a really good range of product,s.
They are , in some cases, a little bit more expensive than others, but the amount of seeds per pack was impressive.
Prices range from, 99p for the more common seeds, like radish, lettuce and spring onion. Up to £1. 79 for runner beans, broad beans or ... ...have been very impressed with the amount of seedlings that have grown. As i write, there are lettuce big enough to pull, also radishes, which taste so much better than any you can buy from the supermarket.
The runner beans were grown in pots and transplanted yesterday, with canes to grow up. Considering the price of them when they appear in the supermarket { all limp and pale looking.} I am sure Suttons are the best to grow. ...

If you are a new gardener or an experienced gardener, you will find something in the Suttons Seed Catalogue to suit you and your style of gardening.
The Suttons Seed Catalogue is well designed and well presented. It is of a good size (about A4) so it is not too small and the photographs of the items in the catalogue are easy to see and the printed descriptions are easy to read. It's also very colourful and ideal reading and viewing for the gardener ... ...their beloved garden during the winter months!

The Suttons company was founded in 1806 by John Sutton in Reading. It is now part of an international company called Vilmorin. It seems a very user friendly and easy to navigate site. The company produce three catalogues a year. The main one is available from October, the plant one is available in January and the bulb and perennial catalogue is available in July.
