This is a great idea for a website because unlike other auction style sites you don’t bid for items with money, you bid using swapits.

You get 50 of these when you register and list your first swap to get you started. You can then earn more by somebody winning your swap and having the value of swapits credited to your account. To get the swapits, however, you have to send in your swap to Swapitshop. Once there it is sent onto the successful bidder and if there is nothing wrong with it you are then credited with your swapits.

The website is intended for kids but there are also loads of adult members too. This shows because you do not just find children’s items on the site. You can bid for horror movies and other adult orientated items (though not the ones you may be thinking of, ha ha). There is also always a huge amount of games for Playstation 1 & 2, Dreamcast, PC, Nintendo 64 and Gameboy. Not to mention the accessories that you can get including controllers and memory cards without having to fork out up to £20.00 for them.

The different sections that you can list an item or bid within are BookShop, CardTrader, GameZone, MusicSpace, SportScene, ToyBox and VideoStore. These also have lots of subsections to help you find what you are looking for much easier. If you still have trouble however, you can search for an exact item or category using the supersearch function.

The other functions on this site are: a helpdesk, a listing of the top ten swaps, a list of swaps that are ending within the hour, a place to check your account details and keep track of items you want to swap or are bidding for, The Swapulator which helps you decide how many swapits to ask for an item, the seven o clock swap which is a competition that runs every evening at 7pm, recommend a friend and a news section where you can keep up to date with what is new at Swapitshop.

They are currently running a promotion with Wotsits where you can collect token from Wotsits bags, send them in to Swapitshop and you earn more swapits. If you are swapping anything though you should make sure that it is worth doing because if it is a heavy item then you may pay more posting it to Swapitshop than the swapits you get for it are worth. Also, there have been times when I have successfully bid for an item and the swapper has not sent it in. This is usually because the swapper has not received the desired amount of swapits for the item and lists the item again in order to get more.

All in all though, it is a really good way to get things that you want without spending a fortune. Occasionally you may even find something that you can't get in the shops anymore. I recommend going and having a look if nothing else.
